FOOD:CHINESE NEW YEAR PEANUT COOKIES RECIPE

Hi beauties!

Just want to share with you what I bake for Chinese New Year and before chinese new year, it has already goes down into my stomach.

Peanut cookies are one of my favourites cookies but too bad I can't eat them too much or my skin has to suffer the consequences later.  For those having acne prone skin, better avoid eating too much peanuts.  It is actually cheaper if you make it yourselves and generally it is cheaper than you buy outside.

FOOD:CHINESE NEW YEAR PEANUT COOKIES RECIPE
FOOD:CHINESE NEW YEAR PEANUT COOKIES RECIPE

FOOD:CHINESE NEW YEAR PEANUT COOKIES RECIPE

So here is the cookies.  Does it look delicious? I used the straw to make the pattern.

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:
200g blended peanuts
150g icing sugar
150g vegetables oil
200g flour (Blue key brand if your are in Malaysia)
a pinch of salt

Steps:
1. Pour all the blended peanuts, sugar, oil and flour into a bowl and just mix together.
2. Then just mold it into a round shape.
3. Glaze with with egg yolk for a nicer colour.  I don't use it because am afraid I will burnt it.
3. Put in the oven and cooked it at 180 celcius for 15minutes.

*I am using a medium Khind toaster oven so if you may need to change the temperature and time according to your oven.

So it is really easy to make it right?  Why not try it yourselves at home?

SKINCARE VIEWS: WHY SHOULD YOU SPEND MORE ON SKINCARE THAN MAKEUP?

Hi beauties,

SKINCARE VIEWS: WHY SHOULD YOU SPEND MORE ON SKINCARE THAN MAKEUP?

I wanted to write about this for some time. Since I have the time now, it would be better for me to share my views.

Depending on people, some people prefer to spend on skincare products for a smooth canvas for their makeup while some prefer to use makeup to cover up all their skin problems. Most people think that having makeup is important but it is not an excuse to neglect the skincare part.

Here is my opinion on why it is important to invest in a proper skincare routine and really put effort into choosing skincare products rather than getting the latest limited edition cosmetics.

You do not want to scare the daylight out of the husband or boyfriend-I think some might think that the husband might not mind it but most men want to see girl's bare face. The huge differences can scare men away and the reason why some men like to say 'natural beauty'.

Neglecting your skincare can age your skin- I mean who wants to look older than their real age? Using a lot of makeup and not bothering about skincare can lead to clogged pores, pigmentation, acne and wrinkles in the long run. Of course makeup can temporarily cover that problem but it won’t help the skin in the long run so there is a need to use different targeted products to help combat the sign or aging and other skin problems. Even makeup can’t cover up wrinkles.

Skincare can save you lot of money- Using the proper skincare products can save you a lot of money, time and tears in the long run. You won’t be having low confidence, having to try so many products and to pay a lot of money to ‘fix’ your skin problem. At least you would feel happier looking into the mirror without those wrinkles or acne staring right at your face.

Makeup is to enhance your looks not cover everything- Makeup is not to cover all the flaws but it is suppose to enhance the features so having a good skin makes most makeup products work easier on your skin. It is also very much easier to choose products on less troublesome skin than to use so many concealer and whole lot of other products to cover oozing acne skin.

So overall, I think investing in using proper skincare products is more important than buying lots of makeup product because to tell you the truth I am just one lazy bum and rather go out bare face than having to put on layers of foundation before I am able to go out. It is always best to start having a proper skincare routine before problems start to arise. Most people start using makeup early but then do not have a proper skincare routine thus the skin problems later.

It does not mean using the whole lot of 20 products but a simple skincare routine such as cleanser, moisturizer, serum and sunblock are really important to save the trouble later in life. You could read Here on how to get flawless skin.

What do you think? Do you prefer to spend on skincare products or makeup?

VIEWS: STRANGE FOOD FOR BEAUTY

After watching this Korean beauty show about exotic food for beauty, I was inspired and decided to discuss the kind of food Asians or in my country people actually eat for beauty.

VIEWS: STRANGE FOOD FOR BEAUTY

I mean it would be interesting to show what kind of food that people here eat and some always swear that is the secret to their flawless beauty. Please take it with a pinch of salt because I personally tried many of it and truth to say eating that alone without using skincare products or healthy lifestyle is sure not going to make your skin flawless.

1. chicken butt
I am sure where this comes from but many people swear by eating the chicken butt, one face can be flawless and smooth.  I don't know but the friend who told me about eating the chicken butt has super soft and smooth skin.  She said she only use water to wash her face???? Okay. I tried it and it didn't work on me. It only helped to increase the size of boobs and my waist too!  Lucky the effect was temporary because I sure do not want increase in waist line.  I don't know where goes wrong but I heard there is a method to eat the chicken butt to get the best out of it.

2. chillies
chillies

This is my mum's" method" of having flawless skin.  To her, the spicier the chillies the better.  Her theory is the chillies kills all the acne bacteria.  She can't eat her rice without chillies in soya sauce everyday.  Her skin doesn't have such problem like I do.  Too bad, I just can't stand her level of spiciness and maybe that is the reason my skin is having the acne problem.  I don't know if it is true but my family members who love spicy food don't have such problem except me. I can't help but break out in sweat every time I have to dip my meals with spicy curry.  Not to mentioned my lips swell in size which is not a good thing to look at.

3. sea horse soup
Sea horse is to said having a lot of collagen and cleanses the blood well which leads to making one's  skin flawless.  Personally, I think it didn't help much because I was just relying on it alone and it was cruel of me to drink such cute creatures up. =(  I mean I personally feel that way but you can try if you really want. I since stop eating or drinking such thing already.

4. Sting ray
This is one of the Korean exotic food for beauty which they happens to eat it fresh. It smells like toilet or ammonia so can't be eating it in 'sashimi' form.  I rather throw it away! Here, it is common for people to eat it in form of "asam pedas" meaning cooked in lots of chillies and Garcinia atroviridis to get rid of that stinky smell.  I don't know about the effect on skin but it is good for those who likes sour and spiciness.

5. chicken feet

This is also my favourite and I think it is common for people to eat it here.  Some people cook in soup but Chinese will cook it black making it has the dark brown colour.  It taste like chicken wings but of course with a lot of bones.  There is the collagen in there and it is good for the skin since there is no fats at all in the chicken feet.  Well, collagen minus the fat right!  Double good for the skin!

6. Sharks
No, not shark fins.  It is cruel to just eat the shark fins.  We decided to eat the whole shark into the stomach.   It is not easy to clean the black colour shark and the whole house will stink of fish.  It is said to cleanses the blood and the skin from toxic.  I am not sure how true it is but it taste good to me. I like it with lots of dry chillies and onions.  It is not the same shark as the one people eat for shark fins and by the way, I don't eat shark fins.

7. Pig trotter
*non-halal* (not for the muslims)   .  Many non muslims eat it because it contains high level of collagen.  Expensive though to eat it weekly.  The amount of time and the effort to cook it are also enormous which makes it becomes a rare thing.  Usually the one cooked in black vinegar, black beans and ginger.

So, what do you think?  Is there any food that people in your countries eat for beauty?

This is not a food recommendation.  Please read for a laugh or just for information purposes.  The opinions expressed here are my own and honest as always.

PART 3 : HALAL FOOD &NON HALAL(CAN GET LIQUOR HERE)

I put up a few places for the choices of food here if you are coming to Tioman Island because Mersing is the station to Tioman Island and sorry to say that there is not much choices especially if you are looking for liquor such as beers or even halal food.

Here is the non-halal one where you can get beers and pork.

MERSING SEAFOOD RESTAURANT- a affordable Chinese restaurant that you can order beer.  It is always full on weekends or when there are tourist from Singapore. Quality wise is not bad.

EE LO RESTAURANT 一而海鲜烧腊饭店- this is another restaurant that I do visit for their food but the time to wait for food is quite slow.  So, there early by 30minutes or else you will have to wait long for food. Price is not that expensive but higher a bit than Mersing Seafood restaurant. The lady boss can understand English so no problem in communication.

Here is the halal ones which means no pork or beers.

AL-ARIP RESTAURANT- This one is located opposite the Giant and serves Mamak food.  Service is quite slow but food is not bad.

SYED ALI RESTAURANT- This restaurant is always full with people and patronised by Malays and Indians for their mamak food.  Looks clean but not much choice

RESTORAN AL-HAMID MERSING- Their cendol is really nice but too bad the boss is lazy making that the restaurant isn't hygienic enough. Hard to communicate with the workers too as they are generally not local and so can't understand even Bahasa Melayu nevermind English.

XIANG GUO- This is a cake house next to Ee Lo but there is no beer or pork.  They sell mostly cakes and bread.  There is some other food but generally the price is high and portion is small so if you are looking for local food this is not a recommend place.  It is fully air conditioned.

This is not a sponsored review.  The opinions expressed here are my own and honest as always.

VALENTINE GIFT IDEAS AND THE TOP WORST GIFTS

Hi gorgeous,

VALENTINE GIFT IDEAS AND THE TOP WORST GIFTS

Sorry, I couldn’t update this blog space as much as I want because am having serious writer’s block. My brain is already clogged up and I couldn’t think of anything else to write. I could just sit in front of the laptop and stare into the space because I don't know what else to write. So, to you reader out there, could you let me know if there is anything you would like to know from me? Just leave me a comment or pm me at my facebook. It would be easier for me to come up with a post later.

While I think Valentine Day is probably a day where couples get together while singles stay at home because we couldn’t stand the sight of being reminded that nobody wants us, I think it is a great idea to exchange gifts with friends and here my thought about the gifts that you could give to friends.

Gifts idea

1. Body and bath gift sets. There are many types of brands out there so there are many choices. I think most people like receiving bath products as it practically and everyone use it?

2. Shopping vouchers. Hahaha, this is generally what people would gift so that they person could get what they want rather than making us choosing something they might not like.

3. A nice dinner. I mean it is the experience that most people will enjoy being in rather than the lavish gifts that one might not like.

4. Chocolates. This is one gift that most people would enjoy. Check if the person prefers milk or the dark chocolates as many only goes for the dark cocoa. You could also DIY it yourself or make one =) . Just make sure it is really tasty.

5. Gadgets/Tools- This is men’s favourite. From shaving tools, fishing rods, electronic games, smart phones or others electronics things There are so many to choose from and many love those it.

6. Wallet- I think many would find it useful and there are types of wallet ranging from expensive ones to affordable one. Many love it because it is practical and useful

Worst gift

I think generally many would not like to get this kind of gift. The list doesn’t follow any particular order

1. Photo frames. Usually people would buy it themselves if they want it.

2. Fashion accessories. Unless you are very sure of that person’s fashion sense, don’t get for them.

3. Shoes or clothes. It is hard to know their styles and to know their shoes fit. Some shoes don’t fit that well with certain feet build so you might buying the wrong one.

4. Things for display. I find many told me that they do not like getting unpractical things that are only for display purposes and they can’t do anything about it.

5. Cosmetics- If you do not know your friends’ like, skin types or preference, please try not to get this because if might just make her unhappy.

So, what other gifts or not so great gift that you have received?

How are you celebrating your Valentine this year?

REVIEW ON SHILLS MIRACLE LIFT 3D FIRMING GEL TONER

A well toned V shape face means we will look younger. If you have read this blog post here , I also use this toner to help with the shaping of my V shape face. It a good value for such a good big bottle and it can last very long considering that I use it day and night. This also can act as a light moisturizer especially if you are in a hurry every morning and have no time for all the steps.

The bottle is made from plastic so there is worries of dropping it to the floor.

The toner has ticker texture than water and has gelish texture.  The red beads will break and disappeared after application on the face so do not worry about looking like some cartoon characters with beads on the face after applying this toner. It has a light fragrance which disappear after a while.

After using it for a month, I think it does help with the moisture level of my skin and in firming my skin.  Although I don't have a V shape because of the structure of my bones, my skin is not sagging.  Overall it is not bad and it will suit those looking for anti aging and to hydrate the skin.

SKINCARE VIEWS: IS FACIAL OIL GOOD FOR YOU?

Hi gorgeous,

Facial oil has been out for already some time. If not mistaken, the proponent of this facial would from the west where using facial oil has become common during winter. I personally have tried some facial oil and I think they are great regardless of what type of skin you have. There are many type of facial out there but some still think that facial oil can cause outbreak. So, let us debunk some issues regarding facial oil.

SKINCARE VIEWS: IS FACIAL OIL GOOD FOR YOU?

Facial oil cause clogged pores and breakouts
Well, yes if you are using hair oil on the face. Of course facial oil will not cause breakout. Facial oils are made for the face and it is not the same oil made for body or hair. I have personally tried quite an amount of facial oil there and there are many which does not cause breakout. In fact, some facial oil such as Marula the leakey collection and argan oil is really great to soothe the allergy of the skin. It can help with the absorption of other ingredients and provide relief to dry skin or acne prone red skin. Just two drops will be enough for the whole face.

Facial oil is only for dry skin
This is not true. Facial oil actually balance the production of oil cheating the skin thinking that it has enough oil. Using it in long run will cause the skin to produce less oil and in turn more balance matte skin. Our skin produce more oil because we strip it of oil so applying two drops of oil over the face helps to reduce the amount of oil our skin thinks it need to produce. So, oily skin can or should use facial oil. Choose one for oily skin or help to balance skin conditions.

We do not need moisturizer when using facial oil
Well, it is not true that facial oil can replace the moisturizer that we need to use. One or two drops of oil are not enough to provide everything for the skin. You still need serum, moisturizer and toner (optional). Facial oil help with the penetration of skin products and protecting your skin from free radical so it is good to apply it as the last option of skin care routine. I am not a fan of layering too many skincare products but applying facial on its own is not going to help your skin. If you are afraid of clogged pores, warm one drop of oil and pat it on the face after cleansing, toning and moisturizer will be good.

There is only one type of facial oil
It is wrong as there are many facial oils out there so find the one for your skin type. Not all facial oils are the same because they are not. Using the wrong one can cause problems to your skin or not helping with your skin but using the right one sure help the skin to recover fast into a healthy state. There are tea tree oil for acne oily skin, Marula oil for sensitive skin, Argan oil for acne prone skin, rose hip oil for dry ageing skin, regen oil for bodily scars , dry oil such as Nuxe which doesn’t have dry feeling at all , Clarins lotus oil and many more. I have personally tried some of them and do like it for the different effects it has on the skin.

Overall, I think it is a matter of preference, your skin type and concern when you are going to add facial oil into your skin care regime. I think facial oil is good in balancing the oil production on my skin and with the moisture of the skin. Do not be scared just because it is oil because there are many products especially retinol which has oil base but it works wonderful on the skin. Besides, even acne prone skin like me has benefited from using facial oil and so would you.

Do you like facial like I do? Do tell what is your favourite?

Hi gorgeous, today I am reviewing an organic brand from France.  Here is the Melvita Organic rose beauty mist.

MELVITA ORGANIC ROSE BEAUTY MIST

Ingredients:Rosa damascena flower water* - aqua/water - rosa canina fruit extract* - glycerin - levulinic acid - sodium levulinate - sodium benzoate - potassium sorbate - citronellol** - geraniol**.

I have been using it for sometimes and it is one of the essential in my recent makeupbag.  To be frank, the mist smell of rose but some might not like the after smell which smelt a little like 'dried rose'.  To me it smell fine.  In case if you are worry about the smell, it disappeared after a few second.  The mist is not that fine and there is a wet feeling or water droplets left on the skin if you spray too near. So, follow the instruction and don't spray too near.

What I like about Melvita Organic Rose Beauty Mist is it does make the the skin soft and cool down the skin especially on a hot day. Easy to carry around and even if you drop on the floor it won't break into pieces.  It is really useful to carry such mist during summer or in countries that one have two seasons.  One plus point for this product it is made from organic products and safe for your skin.

Products retails at RM55. Made in France.

RANDOM:PLANTING PAPAYA

Hi gorgeous,
This is a random post about my life.  More like talking about what I eat.  It might bore you so if you are interested in reading about fruits and diet read on. Otherwise, just close this post.

This is a papaya.  I know no papaya looks like this but this papaya looks like a watermelon here.

yeah, papaya in gold colour!  Looks like honeydew but this is not honey dew.

Finish my papaya. Yummm...

This is actually a papaya but I know it looks so huge and I don’t know where I get the seeds. It happens that seeds was brought by some birds that happens to ‘visit’ behind the house.  All my papaya trees just died off because some neighbour’s cats or animal just trespassed at the back of my house.  I guess I should thank The Big Man for leaving this fabulous papaya trees when others had died.
I really mean it because the taste is absolute sweet and the colour is gold orange.  It is not yellow or red like the usual papaya I have eaten.  I have been waiting for more than 6months for this papaya and we got three from the tree before the flood came to destroy the trees.  So, always enjoy it before it is taken away from you.
Sometimes, I do feel upset just like everyone else when we don’t get what we want but who knows what could happen to be on our way.  Just like all my papaya trees die but suddenly one papaya trees happened to just raised from the poop from birds.  Unexpected things happen when we least think it will.

Opps, sorry.  I am supposed to be talking about diet here and here I rambled off so much.  Papaya is very good for digestion and it contains lots of good vitamin for skin so having daily papaya is good to help getting rid of toxic in your body.  It also can keep the stomach full because it has lots of juice in it.  I prefer to just scoop the papaya with spoon instead of making it into juice.

During my teenage time, some girls like to drink papaya milk because it was rumored to make the bust bigger.  I don’t know but I am allergic to milk so avoid that as far as possible.

WHAT IS IN MY MAKEUP BAG?

Hi, I think I am just going to share what I have in makeup bag for a change.  If you are interested in what I have in my makeup bag, read on.

This is a bag from the beauty bag in Malaysia.  Bag of love is one of the beauty boxes in Malaysia.  I don't know what happened to others but this Bag of love is sure love by others.  Mimi, the founder came out with new design every subscriptions.  I like this edition of bag for the simple design.  I am not much of a frilly person.

Here are the products that I have in my makeup bag.  Here are some of the products that I am currently using.  What I have in the makeup bag changes from time to time but the essentials are still the same.  I need tissues to blot my oil, face mist or carbonated water, lip products(it can be any since girls have lots of lip products) , eyebrow pencil and powder.

I don't carry BB or CC cream because I don't like using my fingers to apply.  I have lack of skills and only sponge works for me.  So, I can't never understand how others are able to have flawless makeup using fingers or brush because those just don't work for me now.

My lips crack all the times so it is a must for me to carry lipbalm because it is not nice to be seen with dry lips.  I also have carbonated water or mist in the bag because when it is hot and I just need something to spray on.

Sorry to disappoint you because I sure don't carry my whole lots of makeup bag to work because for me my bag has to be as light as possible because I am just not use to do my makeup in the toilet.  The must items for me even on days when I look so sick are bright lips products and eyebrow pencil.  These two are must items.  I take lots of time to draw eyeliner and put on foundation so usually I skip those if I am short of time in the morning.

I have review some of the products and some I haven't.  There is no specific reasons I haven't review them yet but if you want me to review them, let me know.

REVIEW ON HING KEE ROASTED

It has been long since I posted about food.  Here is one review about food that I had when I was in KL area.

HING KEE ROASTED

Here is one of the stalls that sells food here.  It is not bad considering that I see quite many peoples here in this restaurant.  It has a good ventilation.

Fish bowl noodles
Sorry I don't know how this taste like but I think it is not bad.  I am *shy* to ask for a try.  It looks good.

ROASTED PORK RICE
Roasted pork

PORK AND CHA SIEW

milk ice tea

The shop has many stalls around and they have good ventilation since there are the ‘fans’ to suck out all those hot air of the cooking. Your clothes will not have those cooking smell stuck to it.

The roasted pork and cha siew is not bad. The rice is soft and not too hard. The set comes with a soup too. The chillies are not bad and are fragrant.

However, I can’t say the same for the milk tea. There is too much of creamer inside the tea and so I feel sick after drinking it. Not to mentioned that I forget that I am allergic to milk.

Sorry, I can’t remember the price. Non halal

SKINCARE TIPS: CAN WE MIX DIFFERENT BRANDS OF SKINCARE PRODUCTS TOGETHER?

Someone asked me “if it is okay to use different kind of brands” because the sales girl said that she should only use the products from entire line.  Here is what I think.

SKINCARE TIPS: CAN WE MIX DIFFERENT BRANDS OF SKINCARE PRODUCTS TOGETHER?

Not Buying one brand

The truth is I don’t buy the whole range of skincare products from just one brand.

Reasons:

- I finish my skincare products at different rates and I don’t like to stick to just one brand for all the skincare products that I use. I can’t just buy cleanser, toner, emulsion, mask, eye cream, mist, serum, essence and everything else from the same brands over again for 3 years. Sorry, my skin is just not that loyal.

-blame it on the advertisement or people raving about it as I would want to get ONLY the fame products thus the reason I can’t be forever loyal to one brand.

-I usually look for alternative of product for certain skincare products that I can’t find in Malaysia which makes the reason that I can’t stick to just one brand.

-I don’t want to risk my skin by spending so much of money for the whole set of brand new skincare products when I can just buy one to try. That way, it lessen my risk of getting allergic as I know I only add in one product to my whole skincare regime. Of course you need to read up the ingredients in the skincare products and know your skin type.

- Usually my skin doesn’t necessarily like everything from the same brand. Some works wonderful but some break me out. So, I usually choose a mixture of products from different skincare brands based on the ingredients and my skin condition.

Who said that we must use everything from the same range and the same brand? I think not buying everything from just one brand gives me more opportunities to explore more brands and skincare products. I haven’t found a brand that has everything that I truly like so it is hard to just say “Yes” to one brand forever.

Be loyal to just one brand

Reasons to be loyal:

-If you are new to skincare products and don’t know which brand suit you, it is probably advisable to start with a brand instead of trying to ‘mix &match’. You will end up with lesser problem.

-well, if everything works fine and it suits your skin, then why change right?

-well, if you have the money and think that the products work in sync with each other of the same brand better. This is for those who are not sure about the ingredients in the skincare brands so to be safer, get everything from the same range and the same brand.

So, overall it bounds to preference and your knowledge of skincare products. I don’t find any reason to get married to one brand FOREVER given the cosmetics technologies, the ever changing weather and your skin. Moreover, there are always reviews online where we can read up before we buy them for usage. I think the main reason is to be more educated in cosmetics than just simply buy whatever sales girl recommend.

So, what do you think? Buy everything from one brand or a mixture of brands?

No products recommendation here and it is not to bash any brands here.  My opinions expressed here are my own and honest as always.
