Now you can have hibiscus tea on your skin too 😉.  Hibiscus tea is really great for skin, beauty and your health.  It is one of the tea that I see recommended in Korean beauty shows.  In Malaysia we called it Roselle.

This is my first time seeing a cream with this ingredient in Korean skincare products and for acne prone skin.

LHA + PHA + Hibiscus Flower Extract 63%

The Acid-Duo Hibiscus Cream is a light cream type exfoliant that you may use on a daily basis. It consists of LHA and PHA which has exceptional exfoliating capabilities but are known to be less irritating and perfect for sensitive skin. It not only improves clogged pores and sebum, but it can also help minimize pigmentation and help with a dull complexion. As the main ingredient, it consists of 63% Hibiscus Flower Extract that are rich in antioxidants and help support the effectiveness of LHA and PHA.


Usage:
Apply an adequate amount of the cream at the last step of your skincare. May be used during the day and night.


Packaging:  It comes in a pink plastic jar with a lid inside.  The pretty pink packaging fit the pink hibiscus flower.  The box is glossy and has ingredients listed in English along with Korean.  50ml is the standard size for moisturiser.

Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Butylene Glycol, Water, Glycerin, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetyl Alcohol, Gluconolactone, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Hydroxyacetophenone, Carbomer, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Potassium Hydroxide, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Dimethicone, Cyanocobalamin

Paraben free, sulfate free, alcohol free,  Eu allergen free.  It has silicone  and not fungal-acne safe (malassezia).  The ingredient being Ethylhexyl Palmitate.

It has ph4.2 which is slightly acidic for gentle exfoliation.

The star ingredient which 63% Hibiscus Flower Extract is a gentle ingredient that many drink as a beauty tea for great skin.  I personally love the Hibiscus Sabdariffa tea too.

Gluconolactone is a polyhydroxy acid (PHA) has benefits of AHA but is more gentle to the skin.
Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, lipophilized derivative of salicylic acid which is Lipohydroxy Acid (LHA).  It has benefit of BHA but gentler.

Cyanocobalamin is a man-made form of vitamin B12 in anti-aging creams to strengthen the skin's capillaries and reduce inflammations.

Hydroxyacetophenone is a synthetic antioxidant and soothing ingredient because it can inhibit an enzyme (known as COX-2) that can lead to signs of irritation.

The rest the ingredients are for hydration, emulsifier, texture, pH adjusting and preservatives.


Texture and scent:  The cream is pink light texture gel goes on without stickness leaving a semi matte texture.  It doesn't have any added synthetic fragrance so it just smells like some sort of strong industrial plastic which disappeared once the gel dries down.

Review:  After using it for 3 weeks, I think the oil control effect lasted about 5 hours before a little oil start showing on my T zone while the rest of my face stays matte. It doesn't irritate my skin or cause clogged pores. along with my acne serum, it keeps my acne under control.  One does need to use it for at least 3 weeks before seeing the oil control ability and keeping skin healthy.  I don't break out much with this moisturiser.

Overall:  By Wishtrend Acid Duo Hibiscus 63 Cream is an affordable gentle light gel moisturiser for acne prone oily skin type.  It does lightly exfoliate the skin which is hard to notice since it takes about 3 weeks to see noticeable results

Packaging:  It comes in one piece fold packet with (12patches) 6X10mm 6X 13mm inside.  The pimples patches are totally flat without the middle bulge.

It has all the BHA, centella asiatica, tea tree oil and volcanic ash which is to control the oil, speed up the healing process and killed the acne causing bacteria.  However I am not sure if those actually are able to go into the skin other than the ability to suck up the exude(those watery liquid from your wound).

Texture: It is a hydrocolloid trouble patch that is very thin, very close to being invisible on the skin and has no scent.  It does stick to the skin until I woke up the next day.  Just make that area has no cream or oil else it wouldn't stick.

Review:  I do like it for the simple packaging and the price point.  As for the effect, it does keep me from picking on my skin just like the other pimple patches that I had tried in the past.  It is easy to carry it if you need to travel.  Just like many other pimple patches it doesn't work on nodular acne (the type that is red, hard, painful but has not head bump)

Overall:  Etude House AC Clean Up Spot Patch is pretty good for the price point and helps keep the skin area clean.  It doesn't work on cystic acne but it works for whiteheads and sucking up exude left from pustules and papule.

Here is a review on the Japanese brand, Shiseido Benefiance NutriPerfect Night Cream.

Benefiance skincare line in Shiseido is for mature skin that needs to deal with wrinkles, sagging, dullness and over 45 years old.

I am reviewing it from my perspective of acne prone, combination skin type and under 40 years old so take it with grains of salt.   Also the one I have here is a 10ml travel size jar which I could use for a month because of how little I use.

It has Paraben, Eu allergen. silicone and not fungal-acne safe (malassezia).
The ingredient that can cause fungal acne are Glyceryl Stearate Se, Peg-40 Stearate and Meadowfoam Seed Oil which is high on the ingredient list.

There are also synthetic fragrance ingredients and essential oils in this product.

There is a stable vitamin C with vitamin E that can help with brightening the skin.

The rest the ingredients are for texture and preservatives.

Texture and scent:  It has soft smooth pink cream that goes in easily on my driest area of the face.  It absorbs really well on the skin without greasiness on skin.  It does have slight dry rose floral scent.  If compared to the day cream Shiseido Benefiance NutriPerfect Day SPF 15, this night cream feel lighter with no oil film feeling on the skin.

Review:  I was using it for a month.  I find that it makes my skin driest area of my face super smooth and soft.  On my my oily area,  I use a pea size and find that it is pretty nice as occlusive on my skin.  It works really great on my Sahara dry body and as neck cream.  The skin on my body feels so smooth.

Overall:  It is a great cream for very dry Sahara skin type, dealing with wrinkles, age over 45years old, don't have fungal acne or acne prone skin and has no problem with synthetic fragrance, this can be a good night cream for your skin.  Get all the occlusives you can get.

This is my personal experience with Shiseido Benefiance NutriPerfect Day Cream SPF15 based on a 10ml travel size cream which equal to about a month of usage on my acne prone combination ageing skin.  not a PR product.

Most of the ingredients are made for dry skin.
There are ingredients for sunscreen which Avobenzone 2.5%  , Octinoxate 7.4% and Octocrylene 2.0%


Texture and scent: The slight yellowish cream goes on the skin smoothly leaving a dewy texture. It does have light floral scent which disappeared after 30minutes later.

Review:  The sunscreen proctection inside this cream is low which is suitable for indoor only so do use a separate sunscreen to out outside.  I find that it does moisturise my skin the whole day.  I use it on my driest skin area which is near my nose area and mouth area that just stay dewy throughout 9hours.  On my other oily parts, it is actually a bit greasier and heavy on my combination acne prone skin since I look oily by 1pm.  If you are using powdery makeup that dries your skin, this is a good base as it keep the skin moisturise inside your skin.


Overall:  It is a good day cream for dry ageing skin type with not fungal acne or acne problem.  Recommend for desert dry skin type and people over 45years old.  If you are young as in under 25years old and have oily skin type, I will recommend to look into other Shiseido skincare lines.

REVIEW ON ACROPASS TROUBLE CURE

I bought into this hyped up new type of dermapatch which is better than the pimple patches.
Here is review on Acropass Trouble Cure (not sponsored).


Acropass Trouble Cure is new type of acne treatment called dermapatch which gets below the surface with "microneedles" that dissolve into skin.  Two-step acne treatment is made to tackle deep, hard to reach hormonal pimples.  Wake up with a calmed, flattened cystic blemish that heal faster.

Usage:
Best if used as an overnight treatment.

1.  After your cleansing routine, dry the desired area and wipe the inflamed area with the acropass Skin Cleanser pad. 

2.  After cleansing, allow the area to dry completely before moving on to the patch. 

3.  Remove the protective film and apply the patch to desired area (avoid touching the microneedles). 

4.  Lightly press on the patch to secure. 

5.  Allow at least 2 hours for the treatment to absorb before removing.

Packaging: Inside the box there are 6 Skin Cleanser pad and 6 Trouble Patches.  It is very expensive compare to the pimple patches.  They are non reusable so you can only use it 6 times.

Ingredients: Free of fragrances, parabens, mineral oils, and silicone.

The Skin Cleanser pad contains Tree Leaf Oil and Salicylic Acid.  The pads are single use.  The swabs smell strong of tea tree oil.

Trouble Cure patch size is slightly bigger than other brands.  The microneedles in the middle of the patch are made from 90% Hyaluronic Acid and niacinamide.  It actually disolves after a few minutes and doesn't hurt.  The microneedle is thinner than 1/3 the width of a hair.

Review: It does stick well to my face and doesn't budge overnight.  The patch doesn't hurt or feel anything.  I tried it on a cystic part of my face and it does work to reduce the pain and reduce the size overnight.  One time usage isn't going to get rid of the cyst totally so you will need to use it a few times.  It doesn't get rid of nodular kind of acne forever so it is still best to find out the source of your acne problem and get rid of it.

Overall:  It does work on cystic acne with few times usage.  It is great for sudden emergency especially when you need to get rid of that cystic acne fast.  I just find it very expensive since there are only 6.  If you need to use the all the 6patches and still not enough to cover your face, it is going to be very costly than just getting a good serum.
