SKINCARE TIPS:ACNE SCARS PRODUCTS

SKINCARE TIPS:ACNE SCARS PRODUCTS

After we are done with our acne, there will be those red marks left on our skin and it can be months until it disappears or it will turn into ugly dark spots if we do not find cream to fade it away. Of course, we won’t look great with all those dark spots to remind us of those pesky acne that is already giving us hell and these marks add more to our already sad problem

Here are some of the things that I had tried before that works and some products that others rave about. I will update this post from time to time.

Over the counter products

Vitamin C-generally vitamin V product are very expensive because they are highly reactive and unstable.  It help to brighten the skin so those acne darks scars will be reduce. Seriously, I haven't get to try them yet but many said it is fabulous.

La Roche Posay Effaclar duo-we don’t have this product in Malaysia.  You can try getting it from Singapore.

Regen Oil-some said it works better than Bio Oil.  One can get it from the pharmacies

Bio Oil-can get it from pharmacies.  I find it good in removing scars on body but not for my face.

Vitamin E-it help to heal the skin.  I personally haven't try using the vitamin E capsules.  The one I tried before was the vitamin E cream and it doesn't work.  Don't use it everyday after your scars heal as it will cause your hair to be more prominent or grow more hairs????

Aspirin Mask-can get it from pharmacies.  This is sure my favourite as it work the fastest. Don't use if you are allergic to antibiotic.

Aloe Vera-can buy it from pharmacies.  Well known one would be Fruit of Earth and Nature Republic Aloe Vera.

Acne ampoule-I think it is because the ingredients penetrate fast into the skin so it works quite fast too.

Mandelic Acid- It renew the skin and deep clean the skin of all the impurities.

Hydrocolloid dressing

If you are a person who do not like to use products then you try using
DIY products.

Tomato mask-it heal the skin and lessen the acne, pimples but one need to use it three days straight to see the effect.

Lemon juice- do not go out into the sun when you applied this as it will cause the skin to darken more.

Egg mask-nice but I don't like the smell.

Epsom salt-It does work but quite slow.  I find many said it is good.  Even Korean show recommended it to mix the Epsom salt with cleanser for a cleaner face.

Honey-Personally this is good but I rather eat the honey than put it on my face. XP

VERSATILE BLOGGER

I was nominated by Nindya Retnasatiti from http://silvertreasure.blogspot.com
Actually, I am lazy and that is why I took so long to answer this question. I don't know how to play this verstaile blogger tag thing so I think I will just answer question here.

Here are the questions:

1. Why did you start to blog about beauty?
It was actually 1 year ago when someone suggested that I should start blogging since I buy a lot of skincare to try because of my horrible skincare condition. I was pimply, acne prone and looked so much like an erupting volcanoes.  I kept on trying which wasted a lot of money and finally found some products suitable for my skin.  So, I was just sharing what works for my skin and what I notice from the current skincare products.

2. If you could do some famous celebrity's makeup, who'd you pick?
I am actually am really horrible at makeup. I can't never get the eyeliner, foundation colour, eyeshadow colour right. Even lipstick take me 10minutes to get it correct. I think the makeup would end up not looking at all like those celebrity flawless makeup if I do one.

3. How do you store your makeup collection?
I actually do not have much makeup and definitely not a collection at all. I put all my skincare and makeup into a huge box and that that also make my family members make a fuss about me using so much of skincare and makeup.

4. Who is your favorite beauty guru?
None actually because I don't like to makeup and couldn't get it right =(. I think makeup hates me.

5. Who is your girl crush celebrity?
Not sure actually.  I don't know many celebrities.

6. What is your favorite makeup brand and why?
MAC because their colour are so pigmented and beautiful. Quite pricey for my pocket tough. Drugstore products would be something Maybelline and recently try a made in Malaysia products.  Korean brand would be Tony Moly since the brands has so many cheap and good base makeup such as bb and cc cream.  I am basically a person who looks for affordable makeup.

7. What's your favorite animal?
I actually like most animal but it would be a tiger I guess but I can never keep one.

8. What's your favorite food?
I have a lot of food that I like to eat.  Mainly I don't like food that are too sweet but I like dessert very much especially ice cream which can contribute to bad skin. XP  I still eat them but only on weekly basis.  Most food that are like are all very bad for the waist and skin XP.  Can't help it right?  Who doesn't like chocolates, cakes, pies, macaroons, ice cream, coffee and blended drinks?  I don't like cucumber and no matter how I force myself to eat them, I just can't accept the smell.

9. If you could be a superhero, what kind of super power you wish to have?
Superpower well, if only it can come true but well it fine to dream =) .  I would like if it has something to do with water. =)

10. Lipstick or eyeliner?
I prefer lipstick as it can change my appearance from day to night in a flash. I am better in using lipstick than eyeliner that would take me 1hour to just draw a crooked line.  Why everyone can do it so easily while I can't although I have been practising every week?

11. Fuchsia or Peach?
Fuchsia as I am a person who love bright colour this year.

REVIEW ON HEAVEN ON EARTH LAVENDER FLORAL WATER

Let just admit that everyone want a hydrated soft skin. Who don’t right? Using mist does help with the skin hydration especially when it is super hot here and we do not like to use thick moisturizer that will later just make the face look slick and greasy.

Personally, I do use mist to help with the hydration of my skin. Although I have combination skin, it does not mean that there is no need for moisturizer throughout the day. I don’t like applying moisturizer on my face if I don’t wash so using mist is a good option. Just spray and one can leave.

HEAVEN ON EARTH LAVENDER FLORAL WATER
the results of using the mist. my skin look very much moist

The correct way to use a mist is to spray it after 0.5m distance as too near will make the mist eveporated fast and make your skin dry faster. Then, pat the mist into your face.  I use it to increase hydration of my skin or when I feel dry or oily.  It smell really nice and help me to go to sleep since I have been having trouble to sleep this few weeks.  The smell is not overpowering and nice that make me feel very relaxing.

Another way I am using is spray the mist into the cotton pad and then pat around 5 times into my skin.  The skin will feel much plump and moist.

NEUTROGENA HYDRO BOOST GEL SPF30 PA++ is to complement the existing Hydro Boost series features innovative 12hour progressive release system that releases moisturise to dry skin cells throughout the day.  Its refreshing gel formula with purified Hyaluronic Acid and Olive extract for a hydrated, luminous and bouncy skin.  It replenishes and retains water all the night.

Al right, I only tried the 5ml samples that I have and 5ml finishes fast with this kind of humid weather we have here. It has been few months since it last rained and it is already 40 Celsius here.  Yes, it is very hot here.  I think SPF 30 is not enough for such hot weather unless you stay indoor all the time.  The gel texture is quite light and not greasy.  I find the gel smell something like typical body shampoo or soap.

The gel contains dimethicone and glycerin for skin hydration.  I find that the gel does absorb well into my skin leaving my skin quite soft to the touch.  My skin is smooth and there is a dewy look. The moisturiser lasted few hours before I sweating too much and my skin become too oily after few hours to really test it out. It is 40 Celsius here X(  ! I think this suits people with normal skin to dry skin and for one who like dimethicone.

REVIEW ON TOTAL IMAGE SMELLY NO MORE

Add caption
this photo is from Total Image official brand website

If there is one beauty product that I can’t leave the house is deodorant no matter how busy or lazy I am. I don’t know about you but I have been trying to get rid of the body odour problem since like forever. I have tried type ranging from deodorant and perfume but still it doesn't help with getting rid of the smell.  I still smell bad! I get very caution when someone is near me in case they can smell my horrible body odour since I perspire easily compare to others.

Of course it is humiliating even if they don’t want to mention it at all. The first thing that I get to know about beauty products was actually deodorant because my kind aunt bought this for me. Being presentable is not just looking nice with makeup but also not to smell bad. It is torturing to keep smelling bad air but we can’t them to back off!

So, today I am introducing to you this Total Image Smelly No More.

Banish odours once and for all in underarms, behind the knees, neck and feet with a deodorant made from natural ingredients, and take on the world with renewed confidence.

TOTAL IMAGE SMELLY NO MORE
TOTAL IMAGE SMELLY NO MORE

Smelly no More is a straightforward name and I was surprised that I can actually use it on my foot and arms area. There is actually no smell at all no matter how you try to sniff at it so I can use it with my perfume without clashes of different type of perfume.

TOTAL IMAGE SMELLY NO MORE
TOTAL IMAGE SMELLY NO MORE Bottom of the deodorant. can you see the small holes?

It is easy to carry the mineral salt around since it is small and compact. It is a little heavy.  On the base of the deodorant, there is a hole for the extra water to flow out.  So, don't wet the whole deodorant or be prepare to find a lot of crystallise mineral salt around it the next day.Just use a little water to wet the top part will do.

However, I find that the mineral salt can be easily broken when trying to screw especially when I am in the hurry. Most of the time, I just leave it like that because it is better not for me to broke it. I would prefer if it is in form of twist up.  Other than that, everything is great =) .

I have been using it for about few weeks and yes, I don't smell bad even when I am sweating like crazy.  It is also very smooth and you won't feel anything on your before applying or applying.  The skin area is just normal =)  .

It is safe since there is not alcohol, fragrance and it is not even anti antiperspirant.  I would recommend this for those looking for natural way of banishing smell =).  It really works =)  .

SKINCARE TIPS:HOW TO HEAL PIMPLES AFTER PICKING THEM

HOW TO HEAL PIMPLES AFTER PICKING THEM

I know we can help but pick the pimples when it is just staring right at our face. Actually squeezing it is bad for the skin but I understand because I had been through that experience before. I don’t think I need to keep telling that if you squeeze and pick that It will leave scars and heal extremely slow. Moreover, there will the more pimples coming out from that area where you pick.

If you really can’t stand it and still want to pick, here is some tips. However, it doesn't guarantee that there is no scars left. I have been there and just like you, I can't help picking it.  I know our fingers will go and touch that bumps XP  .

1. Make sure the one pimples you want to pick is not those underground one or else it would hurt so much and it won't heal at for more than a week.  Yeah, it will be bloody bluish red or some purple and you it is painful when you use your finger to touch it but even if you press it to bloody death, there won't be anything coming out of it.  That is the type to avoid picking at.

You can get those underground to come to a head faster by using a warm compressed and keep applying on that are until it come out or disappeared.

Pick one with whitish head.

2. Wash your face before that. A normal cleanser will do.  Do not use scrub or you will be redder than the magma coming from the volcanoes.

3.   Use a lancer to poke a small hole.  Becareful when you are using lancer because you can scar it .  Then cover your fingers with the cotton pads and squeeze everything out.  Make sure you get all the gunk out. This procedure actually hurt your skin up to the dermis layer.  The pain is from your second layer of skin.

4.    Now, that your pimples has already erupted, apply antibiotic(clindamycin) and hydro colloid gel (NEXCARE 3M-acne patch, Duo Derm or Dr.Check).  I just use plaster because Nexcare doesn't really work for me. I couldn't find Duo derm from the local pharmacies so I just use plaster or most people call it band aid .  It does works too and I do feel it heal faster than I just let it alone.  Oh, make sure you are not allergic to zinc if you want to use the plasters. Another one that you can use if you are from Malaysia would be The Dr.Check (buy the big one sheet which you can cut)

That is pretty much how I treat it when if I pop those pimples.  Yes, it heals slower compare to if you just leave it alone.  Well, what to do when we just can't stand looking at the ugly bumps on the face.

Products you need:
Lancer
Duo Derm hyrocolloid gel, hydrocolloid dressing or Non stick plasters
cotton pad
antibiotic (clindamycin) (T3 Hoe mycin)

NAIL TUTORIAL- SIMPLE HEART SHAPE NAILS

I like nail art but I usually do them myself because it is quite pricey to do it at the salon. I know it is not easy especially the right hand but with practice it will come to you. =)

Many find that white nail matte polish look just like putting liquid paper on the hand but it would much nicer with some patterns on it. One doesn't necessarily use white nail polish for french manicure alone.

Today, I would just do a simple tutorial for heart shape on white background.

NAIL TUTORIAL- SIMPLE HEART SHAPE NAILS
NAIL TUTORIAL- SIMPLE HEART SHAPE NAILS

1. Paint the nail with nail white polish. Wait for it to dry.

2. Put two dot of purple or red nail polish on the nail.
3. Quickly, use a toothpick or pin to drag the colour from the left dot in a diagonal line. Do the same for another dot too. So, both will join and form a heart shape. Don’t wait long else it will dry up.
4. Paint other nails.

You don't need to use the same products I use here.  Other nail polish will do too =)

Products used here:
Toothpick
Bloop H119-white nail matte polish
Bloop H184

RA8 RENEWAL SKIN CRÈME
RA8 RENEWAL SKIN CRÈME

The cream comes felt a little thick and it comes with a strong smell which I don't fancy.  I think the cream is meant for those with dry skin rather than my acne prone skin type.  The cream doesn't cause me breakout because I only apply on my forehead as I can't bear with the smell on my nose.

The cream is like a tinted moisturiser meant for fair skin as there is whitish colour left on the skin.  It would be a good makeup base as it moisturise the skin area.  I only manage to use it for few days because I don't think it is suitable for my acne prone skin since it is quite rich and I feel a little uncomfortable with heavier texture.

Product is from October Wonderbox 2013. It is not a sponsored product.

FOOD REVIEW ON NYONYA COLORS

NYONYA COLORS Koswee
Koswee

This place is self service that one need to line up when ordering and mentioning your table.  So, get a seat first before ordering.  They will send the food our table too.

Koswee was soft but I guess I don't smell anything fragrant as the green colour comes from the colouring rather from pure pandan leaves.  It is just okay for me and edible but not the extend that I would buy it again.

NYONYA COLORS Cendol
cendol
Cendol was okay but not really very fragrant since the green comes from colouring and not from fresh pandan leaves.  The red beans on other hand is a little hard and I prefer softer red beans to go with the cendol.  Portion was medium and they use normal ice and add some brown syrup on it.  There is some groundnuts inside.

NYONYA COLORS dry curry mee
dry curry mee

NYONYA COLORS dry curry mee
dry curry mee
The dry curry mee is okay but a little salty for my liking.  The sauce could be more because I sure do not have enough to cover the noodles.  Noodles wasn't that soft and it was a little feeling of eating 'wires'.  There weren't much side adding to the curry mee other than chicken which I think is not quite normal for dry curry mee.  The sauce wasn't that good compare to the curry mee so this is a pass for me.

NYONYA COLORS Rojak
rojak

Rojak is horrible.  The crackers were equivalent to rocks that I almost lost my teeth from it.  Fruits were okay and fresh but there were more cucumbers than fruits.Sauce was okay but too little for enough dipping.  That is also the reason that the crackers weren't soak enough in sauce to make it less hard.  I hardly get to taste the sauce because it was so little.  I don't think I would not order this again.

NYONYA COLORS Nasi kunyit+curry chicken

I notice many love to order this.  The rice is fragrant and smell good.  It was quite soft too.  I do love the curry chicken.  It is soft and the sauce really goes well with the rice.  This is one of my favourite dish here and would order this again. Hoping that the portion or the rice and the curry chicken sauce could be bigger

koswee RM2.50
Fruit rojak RM6.90
Dry curry mee RM9.80
Cendol+kacang merah RM4.50

TIPS: THE ARTS OF ALTERNATING YOUR SKINCARE PRODUCTS

Skin adapts to the skincare products and it stop working.

I came across this questions that we should only use one brand that suits us as changing can risk “spoiling” our skin.   Then, I also heard or read somewhere stating that we should not use the same skincare products for 5 years.  Whatever the case, I do salute those who are very loyal to their skincare products.

With so many products, changes in skin condition, I find it hard to just stay loyal at just using one product or one brand.  Over the years, I kept on trying and do find few favourites products bur the quest doesn't just stop there.  Most of the time my skin would go "WOW' at the first tube but the hype stop after 3months or less.  This happens to me because I tend to use products meant for acne.

DO you find that your favourites products stop working just after the second bottle or tubes?  Does this happen to you?  Then, I heard someone will say your skin get immune to it.  Whether our skin get immune to certain products is still in the debate and there are many reasons on the products not working as amazing as before.  It can be the formulations, handling of products, changes in skin, diet and external conditions.

Alternating skincare does help in making most of your skincare work for you as well as being kind on your pocket too.  Most of us usually finish half of the jar/tube because the effect stop working on the skin.

Alternating products doesn’t have to be changing products every month. It could simply just mean using different products in the morning and at night or different products during travelling to places with different weather. After all, it is better to use products that you are familiar than do drastic changes that will sure create havoc on your skin.

So, how do you know when to alternate your skincare products?
ALTERNATING SKINCARE PRODUCTS

1. Changes in external factor

Changes in the environment, weather and season. Even in country like Malaysia with a humid and hot weather, we need to rotate the skincare products. The same products wouldn’t work the same for our skin in an air-conditioner room and when we are going to an island for vacation.  The same goes for morning and night routine.

2.  Changes in your skincare routine

If you are introducing some new products into your current skincare, make sure that the ingredients doesn’t clash or use them on different time. For example, use anti aging products at night and brightening products in the morning or switch to products suitable for current skin condition. Alternating between these products ensure that you will get the best of them.

3.  Introducing new active ingredients

Active ingredients such as Vitamin C, retinol, copper peptide, AHA &BHA can really dry out the skin if not used in a proper way. Besides, using all the active ingredients into your skincare routine may shock your skin and make it go into sensitivity mode. Sensitive skin will be inactive to all these active ingredients no matter how fantastic it is. So, if you have all skincare products with such active ingredients, make sure to alternate them and do not use them at the same time. After all, too many chefs spoil the broth.

4.  Been using ingredients humectants for a long time

If you are using ingredients such as silicone and oil for a pro long time, chances are the skin finding it hard to absorb other ingredients that are beneficial for the repair of the skin cells. That is not to say that ingredients like silicone or oil is bad for the skin. It is just the barrier created to keep the moisture inside the skin may not be suitable if you are about to using active ingredients such as serum at night. So, give the skin a break from silicone base ingredients at night for the serum or essence to get absorb.

5.  Changes in your skin condition

Changes in the skin condition is a definite call to alternate your skincare products to one that suits your current skin condition. One should not continue using whitening products when you are having acne problems at the moment. So, switch to products suitable to current skin concern and not what you want at the moment.

SNACK IN KUALA LUMPUR-STARBUCK

This is a self service place and so one need to order it at the counter and just place your order. They will ask for your name and write it on the plastic cup. They handcraft each of the beverage so it is freshly made.

I like this Java Chip Frappuccino Blended Beverage as it is not too sweet or bitter at all. I love chocolate and this is just nice =). The cream is generous and one can taste the chocolate chips in it as well. I couldn’t help but to sip all the beverage to the last drip.

Old fashion Pie is portion is quite big and I would suggest sharing it with someone if you are planning to order something else. I think it the peas and meat in it is just nice. It is not too salty or bland. It is just that the pastry is easily crumbled but I think that is okay.

Cheese Monkey Wrap is indeed the suitable name for it. There is cheese and banana inside the pastry and I think children would like since it is quite sweet but with dose of healthy fruits in it. The amount of cheese is just okay and not too much that it covers up the freshness of banana. Overall, it is a healthy pastry for tea.

FOOD REVIEW ON MY KUALI PENANG WHITE CURRY NOODLE

MY KUALI PENANG WHITE CURRY NOODLE
MY KUALI PENANG WHITE CURRY NOODLE THE THREE PACKET THAT COMES WITH THE NOODLES

When this My Kuali Penang White Curry became a viral item throughout Malaysia, it was sold out all over. Even my mum who doesn’t like eating instant noodles have suddenly asked me about this. She told me that one DJ said it was SUPERX10 delicious??????

Well, then I goggle up and saw many ‘amazing’ review about this instant noodles. There are a lot at the place I am staying to the point I think nobody knows about and I was surprised that many said it was sold out at other places especially Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

I am a curious person especially when it comes to food and so I bought it because many food bloggers said it was delicious.

So, here is how it looks like. It comes with the three packet or chillies, cream, sambal and the noodles. I know it look very spicy, red and appetizing right? Yes, I was fooled by the appearances. Those vegetables are added on my own XP . It smelt very good when I was cooking it probably because of the noodles.

I was actually disappointed when I took the first bite into the noodles. The noodles just doesn't go well with the soup. It does not suck up the flavour of the soup base making the noodles tasteless. I can say that the soup is spicy but at the same time it is bland because the curry powder covers everything. I can hardly taste any herbs used in cooking because the ‘boring’ curry powder overpowered it. Overall, there is only spiciness and it made my tongue swell. However, spicy is not a taste but just a reaction from chillies. No sweetness, no sour, no amazing smells of mixture of curry herbs that can make me cry.

Sigh, I really wanted to say I like this but this is so much different from the curry noodles I usually eat. I know that I am such a picker but seriously something must done about that strong bland curry powder. It is as if I could taste the cheap curry powder with this My Kuali Penang White Curry. It might taste good for others but for a person who grew up eating curry noodles every day, this is disappointing.

So if you have such a picky person like me, I don’t think you would really enjoy eating this.
Oh, by the way I found that using our own vermicelli with their soup base makes it taste better. In fact many find it delicious than using the noodles that comes with the packet.  OH,  do not add in the cream if you can. That is what makes the soup smell funny.

I think probably My Kuali should think about their soup base and also their noodles.  Curry noodles doesn’t taste good because of the soup but the noodles is important as well.
