FOOD REVIEW ON RESTORAN AL-HAMID MERSING

RESTORAN AL-HAMID MERSING

This place is most famous for the cendol.  It doesn’t serve alcoholic drinks since it is a Muslim restaurant.  There is free wifi provided in this restaurant and it is 24 hours.  Service is a little slow by the boss since the worker is the one doing everything.  However, the workers are really nice and not rude even if they are foreign workers.  Make sure to speak slow but clear.

The cendol is serve cold with brown sugar as the ice.  Normally, the ice is made from plain white water but this cendol uses brown sugar and fresh fragrant coconut milk. This is sure must try when coming to this restaurant.  The red beans are really soft and delicious.  Overall, one of the cendol around in Mersing. Rm2.50

The rojak is nice because they use the satay sauce which is why the orange colour plus lots of groundnuts bits.  The mixture of cucumber, pineapple, galangal and the soft prawn cracker is not bad making this rojak taste unique.  There is also half boiled egg in this rojak that makes it delicious and goes well with the tofu too.  The plate is enough for sharing with others.
Rm3.00

chapatti
The chapatti is not bad but a little burn on the outside.  The portion is slightly bigger than typical chapatti and consider pretty cheap for that.  There are layers inside the chapatti and it is soft so it is pretty enjoyable to eat them.  Chapatti is made from wheat so it is a healthy choice compare to roti canai.  It is also less oily. Rm1.00

roti canai
Roti canai is not bad.  It is crispy and cooked perfectly.  However, I don’t really like the sauce as I find that is too thick for my liking.  Here, the roti canai is serve with dhal and chicken curry (no chicken).
Rm0.90

tosai

tosai
For tosai, the portion is not so big but it is super crispy and cooked to perfection.  Again, I don’t really like the curry and dhal sauce but I love the white sauce which is the specialty that one can only get it here.  It is a little spicy, fragrant and just an excellent dip to along with the tosai.  I wish they could give the white sauce more instead of the dhal.
Rm1.30

mee goreng
They do not have vermicelli for fried so one can only have mee goreng.  The mee goreng here is just okay since it is quite oily and I do not really like oily food.  However, there is the spiciness that Malaysian would welcome.  However, some may not be able to tolerate the level of spicines and would sure break out in sweat.  The chicken is properly cook and there is no tiny bits of chicken bones in them which I might find in some shops.
RM3.50

Mersing Town, 86800 Mersing, Johor.  You would probably need to pass here to go to Tioman Island.

ROSKEN SKIN REPAIR DAILY MOISTURISER FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

Got this Rosken Skin repair daily moisturiser for sensitive skin because the sales girl at guardian show me this when I was looking for moisturiser.

ROSKEN SKIN REPAIR DAILY MOISTURISER FOR SENSITIVE SKIN
Rosken Skin repair daily moisturiser for sensitive skin

ROSKEN SKIN REPAIR DAILY MOISTURISER FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

Ingredients:

Water (Aqua), Glycerine, Cetearyl alcohol, Polysorbate 20, Caprylic/ capric Triglyceride, Isopropyl Myristate, Glyceryl Stearate, Simmondsia Chinensis (jojoba) Seed oil, Olea Europaea (olive) Fruit oil, Glycine soja (soybean) oil, Sorbitan Stearate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Carbomer, Dimethicone, Cyclohexasiloxane, Ethylhexyglycerine, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Sodium hydroxide.

ROSKEN SKIN REPAIR DAILY MOISTURISER FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

There was a time when my skin's hurt because I hurt it.  I couldn't use my normal moisturiser because everything sting.  Even cleanser sting and I have to use water on my face.  The only moisturiser I could use is Cetaphil but then I decided to buy this because this is cheaper .  Besides, I saw that this doesn't contain anything that might trigger my 'angry' skin and well if it doesn't work at least I can use it on my legs again.  My legs is always receiving end of anything but I don't know why it is still dry.

Overall, it does help with the moisture but I have to keep applying every  four hours if you have really dry skin as this is not moisturising enough.  The other range contains mineral oil so that is why decided to buy this instead.  I don't want to anger my already 'angry' skin.

There is no fragrance, colouring or other ingredients that might trigger your skin sensitivity  and the cheap price too so this is quite good.  It does sink it fast or perhaps my skin was too dry that it absorb everything immediately.  My skin is in a phase of transition now which surprised me.  Yes, one can also break out even with dry and ageing skin.  So, do preventive measure before that.

Overall, if your skin is in sensitive phase or after some peeling procedure you could use this moisturiser.  This is not suitable for dry skin or ageing skin as it sink in too fast and the moisturise effect only lasted at most four hours before you start seeing the dry patches or flakes again.

Products retails at RM14.90 for 75ml.  Made in Australia

FOOD REVIEW ON EE LO RESTAURANT 一而海鲜烧腊饭店

Ee Lo Restaurant 一而海鲜烧腊饭店
No. 10A, Jalan Dato Mohd Ali, Mersing Kechil, Mersing Town

kangkung or water spinach in English

This restaurant serves liquor but I don’t order beer.  I notice that tourist from other countries would order  beer here since this is one of the few that sell beer.  It is also just next to a cake house so there is choice of food.  It is very near to hotels so this shop is quite convenient.  However, on a busy day I would see that many would need to line up and wait for food.  So to avoid that, I usually arrive on the time they opened which is at 6.30pm or one may need to wait 1 hour for food.  I don't like to wait and this is the only shop that I see many would do that consider this is a tourist spot where many would come here for Tioman Island.

The plate of rice is really little so I would usually need to add on.  I do like the crunchy kangkung(water spinach) as it is fresh and cook with belacan which is tasty.  The spiciness is just right as it goes well with white rice.  The plate size depends on the amount of people as I asked for 4 person so the price will change according to the size of the plate.

sweet sour pork

Sweet sour pork is really nice and tasty.  It is very crunchy on the outside and the meat is still soft and juicy inside.  The meat is fried with flour and it is not oily at all.  Just that it comes with a lot of cucumber slices which I don’t like at all.  There are some pineapples and onions with it.  The sour sauce that comes with it is just nice and because it is serve immediately, the sauce doesn't soften the meat.

RM 22 Sweet Sour pork
RM7 water spinach with belacan
Rm1.50 per plate

SKINCARE VIEW:BIZARRE ACNE TREATMENT

BIZARRE ACNE TREATMENT

Have there been a time when you are so desperate to find remedies for acne that you are so willing to try anything? Here are some weird acne remedies.  Skip number 1 and 2 incase it gross you out.

1.   Hydrogen peroxide
I tried using this before and it only irritates the pimples further.  Hydrogen peroxide is usually use to clean wound and thus I don't think it will treat the problem of pimples.  So, don't use hydrogen peroxide on the pimples and hope that it will disappear overnight because it won't.  Hydrogen peroxide might also upset the skin balance and thus more pimples will appear later.  Worse if the skin become dry, peels, irritated , blotches with patches of colour.  So, don't use this on your face!

2. .Calamine lotion
The pink lotion apparently contains zinc and iron oxide that can calm the skin from rashes or skin allergy. It is usually very cheap and available over the counter. However, this pink lotion does not treat or get rid of your acne problem. Rather it just calm and get rid of the itchy feeling that one has. At least the acne won’t be so red after applying it. I tried it before much like applying mask and it does sooth the redness. So don’t expect much from this calamine lotion.

3 Using allergic cream
Allergic cream will thin the skin making it look less noticeable temporarily but prolong of using allergic cream will make the skin very thin and more prone to breakouts. Really, I tried it before and this is obviously not for breakouts.

4. Snail cream
Oh, this comes from the Korean. Although it is already few years since the snails product came out, it is still one of the favourite skincare ingredients for the calming and moisturising effect on skin. It also fasten the healing product.  I do like their snails mask and cream as it works especially for anti aging.   I haven't got the gut to try the snail facial yet because it looks uncomfortable with snail walking around the face?

5. Urine therapy
Yes, using your own urine to treat acne. Using the first urine in the morning to apply on the face and wash it off after few second. Personally, I know this is gross and downright disgusting but many said that it does work. Someone told me before and actually I had tried it because I was so desperate that I was willing to do anything, anything at all (as long it is not too expensive) to ‘cure’ my acne.  It was so disappointing as my skin was still as bad as ever. X  So, this doesn't work for me. Perhaps if you are daring enough, then you can try this and let me know the results.

\

6.Semen
They said leave it 3minutes to liquefied and apply to the skin. Well, I don’t dare to try this since I don’t want to be using someone else semen out of desperation! Besides, this is so embarrassing unless you are using your own. Ermm, gross! I read some people do use the semen of a male bull but I don’t know about the results. Probably, using our own urine sound better than semen.

SKINCARE TIPS: SEQUENCE OF SKINCARE PRODUCTS (ESSENCE, SERUM, LOTION, AMPOULE, EMULSION, GEL, TONER, BOOSTER & CREAM)

SKINCARE TIPS: SEQUENCE OF SKINCARE PRODUCTS (ESSENCE, SERUM, LOTION, AMPOULE, EMULSION, GEL, TONER, BOOSTER & CREAM)

Some time ago, I wrote about THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ESSENCE, SERUM, LOTION, AMPOULE, EMULSION, GEL, TONER, BOOSTER & CREAM? I was surprised but am really really happy when reader comments or gives response to my article. It has been very quite in here > < . So, here it is especially for Jojo Shim and I hope it will help readers out there with all the humongous skincare products out there.  Here is the Mindmap guide for skincare products.

I left out eye cream because we don’t do layering for the eye because it might cause oil seed! However, it does not mean that you can’t use eye cream

The general rules and guide is that the lighter products comes first.

This is a general guide but there is some changes to the sequence for certain products such as Dr.Jart (Korean product) so always do read their labels& instruction beforehand.

Sequence of usage of products

Morning

1. Cleanser

2. Toner/Mist (make sure it is skincare Mist and not Makeup Mist)

3. Serum

4. Lotion or emulsion (moisturizer)

5. Cream (skip this if you are using lotion or if it is summer)
6. Skincare finisher (just recently launched in Korea)
7. Sunblock

8. Makeup

Night Care

1. Makeup remover (oil, water base or gel base depending on your skin and preference)

2. Cleanser (if you are using massage cream then it is after the cleanser)

3. Booster (only for certain brands. The usual sequuence is after toner)

4. Toner/Mist( pat it into your skin) (if is Korean toner)

5. Ampoule (try to use the same category for ampoule, serum&essence(for example ageing) if you plan to use all three or just use one to avoid clashes of ingredients)

6. Serum (if it is more watery than essence. If it is oil then essence first)

7. Essence

8. Sheet mask or gel mask (optional but Korean use mask everyday)

9. Lotion or Emulsion (moisturizer)

10. Cream or oil capsules

11. Night pack or sleeping mask

I know the night care is shocking with that kind of amount and one may break out if you use that in a humid and hot country like Malaysia along with ingredients that is all very moisturising.  However, I think it will work fine during winter.  Make sure your ingredients doesn't clash with each other. (for examples retinol cream can't be mix with AHA or BHA cream/salicylic acid/ latic acid )

Mask sequence for few days

Day 1 Deep cleansing

Day 2 Calming

Day 3 Hydrating

Day4 Ageing

This is a general guide for normal and dry skin. It is not suitable for acne prone skin or one that is battling acne because too much of layering will cause break out.

My sequence if you add in pimples cream
Night Care

1. Makeup remover (oil, water base or gel base depending on your skin and preference)

2. Cleanser

3. pimples cream (applied it all over the face .  Only do spot treatment if it is benzoyl peroxide)

4.  Lotion or Emulsion (moisturizer) on area that is dry

You can check out my other posts for acne prone skin Here and Here

I hope that this will help readers and again make sure that you are aware of the ingredients that you are using because some can cause break out!

REVIEW ON DOVE HAIR THERAPY HAIR FALL

conditioner(the tube) and shampoo(the bottle)

such pretty keychain right?

the conditioner  :instruction and ingredients

The shampoo:instruction and ingredients

DOVE HAIR THERAPY HAIR FALL

The shampoo is opaque white with tiny shimmering of particles(looks like fairy dust) and it lathered up easily.  It does clean the hair and the effect does last considering I have oily hair.

This shampoo is really affordable and I think it smell really nice.  It doesn't smell anything flowery but the smell lasted me whole day.  It does moisturise the hair and my hair is really soft even without using the conditioner.  I think that it really help with reducing hair fall since my hair drop lesser after using this shampoo.

The conditioner is texture is thicker and it is opaque white.  It does make my so soft using them ^^.  The conditioner is more watery than the shampoo but very easy to use and wash off too.

Overall, I think this is a good affordable drugstore shampoo for daily usage.

REVIEW ON MVNE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

MVNE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER
 MVNE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

MVNE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER
MVNE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

MVNE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER
MVNE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

To tell you the truth, normally I don’t buy shampoo or conditioner with natural ingredients because these products usually don’t clean my oily hair well and I have to use huge amount of the shampoo and that makes me poorer since I finished 500ml in 2weeks. *sob* *sob* Poorer, broke and I need to wash the hair twice per day which is very bad for the hair.

I always have issues with oily hair and I am not surprised that every hairdresser that I go to would complain that my hair is oily. Well, better than dry hair right? So, I tend to stick to chemical shampoo and to me as long as it works, I don’t really care much.

MVNE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

MVNE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

However, this MVNE shampoo has changed my views on shampoo with natural ingredients. The packet which is 10ml is more than enough to create generous amount of foam on my hair. It cleanses my hair really well and I don’t feel any residue left on my scalp because it is free of silicone =) . The subtle scent of Eucalyptus oil, lavender oil and peppermint oil makes the process of washing my hair enjoyable and relaxing. The scent is not overpowering and so the scent lasted on my about 2hours after wash. The shampoo liquid is clear and quite watery with a slight texture of a gel. The effect lasted for two days when I normally have to wash my hair everyday. Surprisingly this shampoo is for all sort of hair and It works on my oily too. Love this shampoo and would definitely recommend this if you are looking for natural shampoo without silicone.

The conditioner is opaque white and cream type. It smells the same as the shampoo and equally relaxing. I use conditioner at the end of my hair and it make the hair strands super smooth without the silicone feeling or greasy. In fact, I don’t feel like there is any residue on the hair strands after washing off and my hair become so smooth. Combing my hair is made easy. I don’t have to untangle my hair with combs after shampoo and conditioner. This is really a marvelous conditioner to go by with the shampoo.

REVIEW ON BOBBI BROWN BLACK COFFEE SMOKEY EYE KAJAL LINER

BOBBI BROWN BLACK COFFEE SMOKEY EYE KAJAL LINER

BOBBI BROWN BLACK COFFEE SMOKEY EYE KAJAL LINER
it comes with a smudger on the other end

BOBBI BROWN BLACK COFFEE SMOKEY EYE KAJAL LINER
so sorry for the blur swatches-the colour is brownish black

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Kajal Liner is a pencil type eyeliner.  The other end contain the smudger is very soft to create smokey eyes.  The colour of this eyeliner is black coffee and it is perfect for natural smokey eyes.

The brownish colour is not very intense so one may need to apply a few coat if you want an intense look.  However, it is super soft and doesn't tug on my eyelid at all.  Application is easy although it is in pencil form.

I don't think this is an oil proof product as I get a little panda eyes after few hours of application.  On the hand, it is easy to remove the eyeliner too.

I guess for the price it is worth if one doesn't want to have wrinkles all over the eyes because of the tugging caused by using pencil eyeliner.

The Smokey Eye Kajal Liner is available in 6 shades : Noir, Black Coffee, Pacific, Black Amethyst, Jade and Storm. It retails at RM90.

Products retails at RM90.made in Germany

FOOD REVIEW ON XIANG GUO

Xiang Guo Bakery and Cake House 香果屋Jalan Abu Bakar, Mersing Kechil, Mersing Town, 86800

The rolls is not bad. The cake is quite dry and smell of vanilla essence. It could be better if it is more moist. The icing makeup for it since the thin layer of icing is soft and not too sweet. Recently, they increase of price and also make the cake shrunk in size. However, this is one of the best cake shop since I find many patron this cake house for the cakes and the air-conditioned area.

I don’t like the service though as the cashier or rather the owner is quite rude. She actually pull out the money from my hand since I was slow in giving the money. Besides, I asked for a spoon but she didn’t give me any and pretend not to hear anything when I inquire about it. No receipt given even when you ask for it.
 butter cream chocolate roll
huffy

RM1.50 per slices

Since the increase of petrol, this green tea increased Rm1 per slice but the size is still the same. Moreover, they change from using the paper box to the plastic box which makes it look cheap. If not for this green tea cake, I wouldn’t buy it anymore. The frosting is nice because there is the red beans but the cake layer is a little dry. Red beans is not so soft compare to the one I bought few months back probably because they had change the type of red beans use. Overall it is okay to indulge once in a while but eating this everyday will make me broke for sure since it is RM4.50 for a small slices. I had taste chocolate cheese cake before and it was horrible so think that is why green tea is always one of few sold out cakes.

RM4.50 per slice

The egg tart crumbled at the slight bite and it is not as crunchy as I thought that it will be. The yellow is because of yellow colouring and not because of eggs. There is a lot of sweetened milk used and I am so happy considering the price. It is just too sweet for my palate. Overall, i wouldn't recommend this egg tart. RM1.80 per tart

Bread is soft but it is empty inside and I think it is quite expensive compare to Kuala Lumpur. The topping were simple and not much as seen from the phot so I think it is just okay and edible. There weren’t much cheese and the sauce is really thin. Not much to say about this bread since I bought it when I was really hungry.
RM2.80

Donut is not cheap. It is soft but not fully coated with sugar. It is quite fluffy and taste okay. The donut is not that big I compare to the ones we can get outside. It is not too oily too but taste quite bland so I think it is just an average donut that I can simply find elsewhere. Overall, it is okay for tea and left no impression on me other than the higher than average donut price.
Rm1.10

Scent: Fresh green clover, lavender, sage rosemary and thyme.

Retail Price: RM48

It has a beautiful packaging and it is a great gift for friends =)  .  Everyone would love a nice packaging, simple and gorgeous.  The tube is made of high quality aluminium as the colour doesn't fade and it is really easy to get the cream out from the tube.

The cream is opaque white and it does smell nice.  It smell of fresh trees instead of grass.  The smell is neither masculine or feminine so I think this would suit almost anybody.  I find that it is quite nice because even men would use this hand cream.

The cream absorbed fast and doesn't leave traces of oil on my hand.  If you apply it on your hands, wear gloves and leaves overnight, your hand will be very soft the next day.  This is good for those who have dry hands.  Besides, the ingredients is all natural and it is great for vegans =)  .

I think the smell is very appealing to me and not all choking or too floral.  I personally find this better than Somerset Meadow in terms of smell.  The mosturisation level is also better and does leave my hand soft and silky to the touch.  Even man would find this hand cream appealing.  My brother who hated perfume personally stole this from me because he loves it so much and keep applying it on his hand.

MARY KAY PRECIOUS PINK/ROSE
can you see the slight pink shimmer on the centre of my hand?  That is the colour.

MARY KAY PRECIOUS PINK/ROSE

the colour is really light on the eyelid

The colour look quite opague but it is actually very light once applied on the eyelid.
The colour is really too light and hardly visible so I think if you are looking for just some glow and unnoticeable eyeshadow on your face, this would be right.  I don't think it would show on darker colour skin tone.

I am not sure how much this cost.

REVIEW ON THE SKIN SHOP PREMIUM SECRET SNAIL VITAL MUCIN CREAM

I hope everyone is having a nice day.  I was so surprised when I saw the extra samples from Honeyz Cube.  To tell you the truth, I am just a normal consumer and money constricted people so trying before buying is important for us but ... we don't get samples even when we asked for it at shops right? I know that kind of feeling that they will give us when we ask for samples.  Usually the answer is finished or they don't have it right?  Can blame me for prefer to shop online or at drugstore where we can browse to our heart content.

So, that is why I prefer to shop online or get samples from website that offer free samples.  One of it would be Honeyz Cube.  They offer samples and what is good about them is that redemption is base on points collected and on 'first come first serve' basis.  I think it is fairer than the 'lucky draw'.  They always have amazing products and of course it was redeemed off like 'hot cakes'.  There were SKII samples, full size hair products and body shampoo. Really, I am not kidding!  Where can you get free amazing high ended samples delivered to your doorsteps?

Hahaha, enough of raving about it or you would think that I get money or other benefits from Honeyz Cube.  I just feel the need to introduce such website to you and be a better consumer =) .  I don't earn or get anything at all XP .  Not every bloggers get everything and I usually buy, redeem or win it from somewhere.  It is just some was sponsored and I am truly grateful when that happens.

So, here I am to review it since I am sure many of my friend would be truly disgusted at mentioning snail.hahaha
the sample

behind the sample.  I can't read a word ><

here is the snail cream which is more gel like texture

Here is the direct link to the product http://www.theskinshop.sg/snail-cream/12-premium-secret-snail-vital-mucin-cream.html

Here is some details about this snail cream:
· Contains high concentrations for high effectiveness
· Dries out pimples in one day
· Skin is smoother and moisturised
· Reduces all irritations and fine lines

BEST SNAIL CREAM WITH 90% OF SNAIL SLIME EXTRACT
Skin regeneration effect + minimize skin irritation + skin trouble care
The Snail Vital Mucin Mask Cream contains 90% of Snail Secretion filtrate that prevents and treats skin problems. Skin is regenerated, moisturised while scars and blemishes are reduced. Say goodbye to pimples, redness, irritations and fine lines and wrinkles, say hello to beautifully natural, glowing, healthy skin! Rich in collagen, elastin, proteins and Glyolic acid this animal byproduct has everything your skin needs to stay stunningly preserved and flawless.

Of course it doesn’t smell anything yucky at all.  In fact, it smell floral and it is quite nice.  The cream doesn’t feel slimy at all.  The snail slime is quite thick but absorb immediately into my skin.  The texture is more gel, it sure doesn't have the thickness or oil or a typical cream.  It is more like gel that immediately turns into serum when applied on skin.

My skin is sure is more hydrated the next morning.  It also calm my redness and I really like this cream.  The price is a little shocking but I won't hesitate to buy it again because it really help me with the healing.  It doesn't break me out too.  I am not saying good things just because it is free.Besides, it is only 3g of samples.

I think snail skincare is suitable for those with pimples but if you are afraid of snails, there are other alternative out there such as green tea and mud.

FOOD REVIEW ON MASTAN GHANI AND CHEE CHEONG FUN

Gerai Chee Cheong Fun Anson Sam Siew Yeah 三小爷加料猪肠粉
Location: Jalan Bandar, Teluk Intan, 36000

Best Chee Cheong Fun in Teluk Intan
This is definitely the specialty of Teluk Intan. The taste is the same over the years and I am sure they maintain good quality control of the food. Nothing really comes close to the chee cheong fun from this shop and I am not the only ones that rave about it. It is soft, fill with generous amount of pork meat, turnip, dry shrimps and comes with vinegar green chilies. The taste reminds me of the old days and the hometown I grow in. The chee cheong fun will be wrapped up in newspaper. This is the shop to look for if you are looking for chee cheong fun with generous amount of fillings in it. It will only open after 6.30pm.

Price at RM3.50

Mastan Ghani

Mee Rebus
I usually take seriously about Mee Rebus because of the sauce. I guess this outlet of Mastan Ghani is really not delicious because of quality control problem. The one at the town is better. The Mee Rebus in this shop is a disappointment. The taste is nothing similar to the one I ate when I was 12 years old or when it was still under their grandparents hands. The quality deteriorates so much that I can’t hardly recognize the famous mee rebus anymore. The cracker was not crunchy and the sauce is badly made. I am sure that they pour the orange sauce into the plastic pail which cause the smell of plastic. The only good thing I can about it is warm.  Overall, I would buy or eat again from this outlet.
