POPULAR SNACKS IN KOREA- HAVE YOU TRIED IT?

Hi beauties,

Do you love Korean snacks?

A few months ago, I was involved in a Christmas gift exchange. It was really exciting as buying and choosing things for people is really not an easy task.  I was wondering if I should send Durian flavour things but then ... I am sure you will faint because .....well Durian is the "stinkiest fruits on Earth" so well I better not.  I send mostly snacks that is only available in Malaysia.  I don't think you can find it anywhere else than Malaysia.  Alright, save that for another day unless you are curious enough to find out what snacks are good to eat in Malaysia.

So, here are snacks that I got from the exchange.  It is already in my stomach the day I opened the box so hahahahaha.  I was told that these are some of the popular snacks in Korea.

Here is the cheese crackers.  There is a light hint of ginseng.
Seriously, I couldn't get enough of these cheese crackers because the taste is so good! So thin and crispy just like potato chips but in a healthier version.

The biscuit is written in Hangul and also Chinese.  I don't know what it means in Hangul but the Chinese words means "tall little girl".  Probably referring to the illustrated girl.  It is a crackers with taste of coconut and lots of sesame.  Really tasty and fragrant.

This is jellies which the smell immediately float the whole room the moment I opened the packet. The jellies are shaped like grapes so it is really cute.  The taste is okay. Not too sweet.

REVIEW ON STARBUCKS COFFEE HOUSE CAKES S BANANA CC MUFFIN AND ABSOLUTE VIA

When life is just sometimes busy and depressing, we usually crave for something sweet. I can’t help but have some sweet craving. It happens that we passed by Starbucks and there are some cakes *my eyes light up at cakes"! I know Starbucks is famous for their coffee but since am rushing, cakes over coffee for me!

So, I chose S Banana Chocolate Muffin and Absolute Via for mum. She loves Swiss Roll and couldn't get enough of it.

I had a take away since I am rushing for time and mum doesn’t like to be in a place where youngsters like to hang out. So, I bought it home and prepared tea to go along with the cakes. Wow, sounds like I am having a great time. Well, one should try to enjoy the little things in life =) .

A beautiful paper bag. Inside the bag, there even tissues and fork prepared.

The muffin is put inside a brown bag while the Absolute Via is inside a paper box. Really pretty and mum keep asking me why it is unlike the one she brought from usual cake shop.

The banana muffin is very soft and the sweetness is just right. Love the amount of chocolate chips in it as well the taste. It is just a little more expensive considering the size. I shared it with my family members and my family members do like it as much as I do.

Absolute Via is actually coffee flavor Swiss roll which my mum though was chocolate, her favourite cakes of all time. The Swiss roll is soft with good amount of cream and the right sweetness. Unlike the typical type of Swiss Roll which my mum used to love, this is has very fine ‘holes’ means little baking powder in it. Starbuck also uses good quality of flour and it is worth the price since the size is also quite big. Sorry Mum, I spoil her image of her “favourited” cake shop (meaning she no longer like that shop now). Now, she finally understands why I don’t like the swiss roll from the shop she usually buys. Mum might be blaming me for pampering her with cakes now XP .


Next time, I think ordering the cakes are more worth than pies in Starbuck which can be quite dry.

It helps with healing the skin and it sucks up those pus from the wound.  It won't work if your skin is not broken meaning it won't work for those that you feel has something underneath the skin but then there is no pus.  Since in Malaysia, there is no way that we can find Duo Derm, this is an option.

It comes in one big pieces that you can cut into the size you want, then remove the plastic and just put it on the wound.  It works on place like the face compare to the 'plaster kind'
Too bad that the size has reduced a little from the one I previously bought.

The healing balm smells wonderful and not the typical bitter herbal. This smells soothing and reminds me of vegetables soup.  Even my family who hates anything with fragrance finds this smells good and do not need to pinch their nose while applying it.  The balm has a natural greenish look but turn transparent when applied on the skin.  There is no greasy feeling or discomfort when this *thumbs up*  .

This a healing balm that really works to heal the scratches, dry patches on my legs.  I also use it to ease those bites from those mosquitoes.  The mosquitoes would leave an ugly marks on my legs and hands.  It took few months for those marks to disappear.  Surprisingly, the healing balm get rid of those ugly marks fast and it is just perfect for New Year.  It works slower than those 'steroid' cream but it is natural so there won't be side effect of the dry patches coming back. It is sure a essential items for me now with so many uses and again it smell fabulous!

Love the smell of the oriental herbal soap is earthy with smell of herbs =) .  There is not artificial colouring as the colours comes from the herbs and thus a bit brownish.

Since it is a handmade soap, it doesn't lather that a lot of foam but it cleanses the skin well, doesn't really dry my skin and help with my back-acne.  The smell isn't strong after you wash it off.  It foams up really easy even without using any foaming net.

Overall,  I find that it is good for people with skin trouble such as back acne and oily skin type.  If you are the type that still love to use the feeling of soap go for handmade soap as it was less harsh than those bar soap. For drier skin type, you can still use this soap.  Just don't leave it on the skin for more than 1minute and apply moisturising lotion after that. Alternative, go for their Jeanie Botanicals charcoal soap which is equally awesome too =)  .

True castile soap made this way is exceptionally mild and moisturizing. 100% olive oil soaps produces low lather but cleanses just as well while being gentle on the skin. There is a paper seal at the bottle so that bottle will not leak during the shipping. Shake well before using.

I like the simple packaging =0.

The facial soap comes in form of transparent liquid that lathered a bit and mild to my skin. There is only very light smell.
I can still feel the moisture left on my skin after the wash.  It also cleanses the skin well without irritation.  It does remove light makeup but not waterproof makeup so use a separate makeup remover to remove eyes makeup before hand.

Unlike the real pure olive oil, this doesn't clogged my pores. I couldn't use those cooking olive oil as it leave a greasy form on my skin. There is no any strong smell or fragrance at all so it would be good even for skin that can't handle synthetic fragrance or preservative.

If you are into the 'no -shampoo method' loved by celebrities but is afraid of looking like a greasy ball for a month, you could use this olive castile facial soap as your "no poo method" before moving to the real thing.  It makes the hair soft and it is natural!

SKINCARE TIPS: SKIN DIET, WHAT TO DO?

People always talking about diet diet and diet.  Do you know what is skin diet?

Someone said I love to use *what to do* so that is why I have to make my trademark. *shy*  Hope you do not mind it my dear readers.

While I am not a supporter of eating pills or something to beautify my skin, I do go on a skin detox or skin diet after a harsh time.

Recently, my skin was not in a good condition after a week of celebration with eating so much of processed food, cookies, peanuts, beers, high protein but without enough vegetables. Side effect of it? I breakouts, redness and had oily skin with dry patches all over.

Yeah, right after my skin was just good enough to see the daylight. If you experience something like me, it is probably time to look after it.

Don’t be scared, I don’t do anything drastic such as going for extreme measures such as one food diet or not eating anything at all. You could probably incorporate or adapt some of the method for your daily.



1. Drink 8 glasses of water daily. Drink more in the morning and noon.  Try to reduce the liquid intake at night to avoid bloating.

2. Drink two or three cups of pure warm green tea. Cold one doesn't really work.

3. Each and munch lots of fruits that contain high vitamin C and minerals. Don’t turn them into juice.

4. Eat plain greek yogurt. No sugar in it.

5. No red meat for the whole week.

6. Eat food high in Omega 3 such as fishes.

7. Avoid everything processed ( for examples: burger, fries, cookies, candy, sweets, can drinks, dairy , sugar)

8. No fried stuffs.

9. No alcohol.

10. Try a detox bath-Epsom salt and lemongrass oil.

11. Use masks daily.  If you love DIY mask, try ingredients such as yogurt, tomatoes, rice or aspirin.

12. I like to go free without makeup for a week.  Well, you don't have to force yourself.

13. No smoking. Duh, don’t smoke forever.

FOOD:HOTTEOK RECIPE (KOREAN PANCAKE)

My dear readers,

Just made this Korean pancake for breakfast because I am bore with the usual pancake I have.

This is a Korean pancake.  You can change the filling according to your preference.
I just change a little by adding the sausages on top of the pancake for fun. I like adding a little meat. *hahahaha*


Korean Hotteok has sweet fillings such as brown sugar or honey and is eaten during winter.  It is one of the street food but well you can always make it at home yourself =) .  It is actually easy and not difficult at all.

Dough:
1 cups of wheat flour

1/2 cup water

milk (you can add a little milk powder if you are not allergic to it)

1tbs sugar

1 tbs yeast
1.  Mix the water, milk (you can add a little milk powder if you are not allergic to it), sugar, yeast together.  Stir well.
2,  Add in the wheat flour or you can use all purpose flour and mix it.
3.  Let it seat for about 1/2 hour and then knead it a little.
4. Leave for another 10 minutes.



Fillings:
two leaves of cabbages cut into strips
1/2 carrots strips
2 stick of sausages cut into the circles shape

You can create your own fillings.  I am health conscious so the traditional fillings as brown sugar or cheese is too high in calories for me so I decided to just use vegetables.

1. Mix all the vegetables together.  You can either mix the sausages together or leave it aside.


Make the Hotteok:
1.  Just knead the dough together again and then make it into 4 balls.
2. Then just take the ball and put the fillings in the centre. Then knead it into a ball.
Okay, here I cheated because I am lousy in kneading it into a ball so I actually separate the balls into two. Then put the fillings in between the two dough and sealed the side. *embarrassed*
3.  Then heat the pan and cooked the hotteok.  Press on the hotteok and turn to another side when the bottom become golden brown.
4.  Serve it hot.


I think it is good for tea or for breakfast.  Try it yourself at home.
