South Korea is famous with their Asian skincare routine and the skincare products that works on par with some high end brands at the fraction of price.  Korean brands come up with products that suits every skin type making it easy to choose the suitable products for your skin.

How to use:

The tube is made from plastic. It is 80g and you should finish it within 6months after opening since it is not hygienic to keep dip your fingers into the tube.

The first ingredients is water and the second ingredient is glycerin which are beneficial for the skin. Dimethicone is a type of silicone-the reason of suggestion for dry skin type and as night cream.  It is good to use it during winter or in cold weather.  The ingredients are not irritating or pores clogging =).

It will be a little heavier if you have super oily skin type.

I have combination skin type (oily on nose & normal on the other area) as well as sensitivity.  However, skin gets dry during the night so this is perfect for it.  I think it is very thoughtful of Skinmiso to come up with skincare products that has pore tightening properties for dry skin type.  The usual products for pore are for oily skin type.  Dry skin type should not use skincare products for oily skin type or else your skin will be irritated and turn really red.

The cream smell faintly of mixture of licorice and sage.  The cream might look heavy but it will melt upon contact with your skin leaving no trace of oiliness.  A little is enough for the whole face which is really economical.  A jar can last few months.  My skin is really more moisturised and pores are less obvious after 1month of usage.  Skin is really soft too.  I do recommend dry skin type to try this =) .

The is some differences from the lighting but I guess one can see the differences because I actually took the after even clearer and nearer.  My pores are smaller =). Smoother and brighter skin too.

BEAUTY JUICE: COOLING JUICE FOR HOT SUMMER

If you are into natural way of taking care of you skin, then you have probably heard of traditional medicine that talks about the balance of ying and yang.  This applies even to the skin health.  If you are 'overheated' with food such as red meat and fried food, then it is recommended to drink or eat vegetables to balance the 'qi' out.

If you still do not do anything about it, then you are probably going to have sudden flare up of skin issues such as acne or pimples.

Personally, I hate eating cucumber because I can never like the smell not matter how hard I tried.  I know there are so much benefits from eating cucumber but well I just 'hate it'.  So, I will just make juice out of it.

This is a vegetables juice to cool down your body especially on hot day or in a summer.

Ingredients (for 2 person)
1 big Jicama turnip(chinese turnip) (peeled the skin and cut)
1 Cucumber (I used the Japanese cucumber because it is sweet and not bitter) (I just washed the skin and cut it in half)


The reason that you can get such beautiful colour is I pressed the juice from the chinese turnip first. Then followed by the cucumber. Lastly, top it up with chinese turnip.  After you mix it, it will be light green.  The juice will look cool XP.

If you like cucumber, then you will enjoy the smell and the taste.  It is lightly sweet so it doesn't taste bad.  In fact, it is actually nice.  There is no need to add in any sugar or whatever sweetener.

The only thing is it has strong fresh cucumber smell.  It is just in my genes (I am the only one in my family that hates it).

Please don't tell me to keep forcing myself to eat cucumber everyday T_T  .  I had been doing it for the past 10 years but still hate it.  I wonder when my taste buds are going to change for the better and be in love with cucumber? XD

Another tips for drinking juice.   Drink the juice one to two hours before bed.  There is no need to eat heavy supper.  However, do drink a cup of vegetables or fruit juice which can assist your stomach and help your body.

*word of advice-do not give this juice to your children at night or they will either pee in the bed or run to the toilet in the middle of the night.

I have no time in the morning because I always in rush or am way to lazy.  Moreover, I prefer coffee or tea in the morning.  So fruit juice and vegetables juice is for my supper. XP

Sheet masks are part of beauty routine in Asian and now it has also becomes favourited by many skincare junkies for the calming, faster visible results properties and not to mention handy to carry during travel.  It is recommended to use a face mask to calm the face during the flight =).

So, here is my review on the rice sheet masks.

Rice:- It exfoliates dead skin cells and brightens dull skin with no artificial coloring contained.


How to use:
Step 1: Apply the sheet on your face after thorough rinsing
Step 2: Leave it for a few minutes
Step 3: Gently rinse with water and wipe with cotton for best results


Rice mask has brightening effect and is gentler to the skin so skin.  It is also moisturising to skin.  The mask sheet is huge enough for my face.  There is some scent which is not too strong but I have no idea what it is. Overall, it does make my face brighter and more moisturise.  The effect lasts for few hours.  One will need to continuously use the mask to see more brightening effect.

Not for anyone who wants to avoid paraben and fragrance.

TIPS FOR LOSING WEIGHT WITHOUT STARVATION

It is a common thing to hear people going on diet to achieve that 'S' body or that 'hourglass' body.  I will not recommend anyone to go on that one food diet and juice cleanse. I had tried it resulting in me being hungry all the time and I gained 2kg right the moment I started eating.
There are many losing weight ways out there which I find ridiculous and absolutely not going to work.  Some will even cause serious side effects. However, I shall not go on and on since I guess you might have different opinions on what works.

However, I think everyone just want to lose weight to look healthy and not skinny.

I think the trend of diet now is to have those healthy looking body. While many wanted to achieve that kind of body, not many are willing to do exercise for it. So in order to reduce weight, most will modify their food intake or go for surgery.


Here are few tips on gaining a healthy body.


Be realistic

No matter how much you starve yourself it is going to work because your bones structure is like that. So, be real on how much you can lose to stay healthy. If you already can see bones and already fainting few times per day, you are not supposed to lose more than that. So check your body built first.

Our body grow cell fats if you eat too much food containing sugar, carbs and not good fats but it will only shrink when you lose fats.  It means the cells has the potential to grow bigger if you do not care about your food intake.  So do not grow more fats cells by eating too much of those kind of food.


Be patient
Everything takes time; it is not a one day thing. The same goes for the reason you gain weight. Have a healthy diet and lifestyle. Check what’s your recommended calories intake is. Everyone is different depending on your lifestyle and body mass. So, do not try those celebrities’ diets just because this people look gorgeous with their "S" or hourglass body. There is no fast track.


Word of caution, losing weight too fast can cause you to have stretch marks and flabby skin so don't lose it too fast.  Nothing good comes from a roller coaster meals and lifestyle.




Be natural

What I mean here is eating natural food compare to those pills and diet drinks. I prefer natural method which is eating real stuff. Chewing on real vegetables, fishes and carbohydrates are way better than eating sugar laden drinks. It is slow but it works and the effect last long. It is also good to cultivate good eating habits than relying on those unproven methods.

When you are eating outside, please check for the hidden sugar, carbohydrates and trans fats. It is usually hidden in many of the so called “healthy food”-salad, fishes, sauces, desserts and diet drinks.


I did calculate my food calories daily and I don’t eat more than my recommended intake. That is the reason for maintaining weight. I do eat desserts, cakes and fried stuff but that is once a week and not daily. Don’t feel guilty because one meal of dessert is not going to make you fat. Just remember not to go overboard with your counting calories.



However, if you are going to do exercise heavily that day, do eat more. Don’t fix yourself to only one calories intake or should I say don't starve yourself because nothing good comes from starving yourself. It will only result in you gaining more fat after that.

The shampoo is yellowish clear gel with smell of rosemary, cypress and citrus.  I find it really refreshing since I do love smell of rosemary.  It does lathered but not much considering that this doesn't contain sodium laureth sulfate which is harmful.  It has soft foam since it is made of natural ingredients and rest assure since a lot of foam doesn't mean it actually clean the scalp better.

I find it cleanses the hair well and doesn't leave residue on the hair.  It makes my hair fluffy without the use of conditioner as well.  I think this natural shampoo products are really great even for the whole family.  My family members love it very much.  It is also easy to carry just this one bottle of shampoo for the whole family during travelling =) .

CHEE CHEONG FUN RECIPE/ STEAMED RICE NOODLES/ HONG KONG STYLE CHEE CHEONG FUN

I guess many knew about that famous leaning tower of Teluk Intan, Malaysia and "the must eat" food when you are in Teluk Intan. Today, I am sharing the similar food recipe of this famous Chee cheong fun or the direct translation will be the ‘intestine’.


There are actually few shops that selling the same thing but they amount of ingredients and price are different. Tourist will usually patronise the famous Liew Kee Chee Cheong Fun shop in Jalan Hill the road which only has takeaway.  The locals will go to San Siew Yeah Chee Cheong Fun further away from the town, Jalan Sultan Abdullah. which only opens at night.


The chee cheong fun in Teluk Intan is actually different because we eat it with green pickles chillies and the ingredients is mixed up inside the noodles itself. However, many who are used to plain chee cheong fun will not find it interesting or tasty.

Anyway, here my mum’s homemade chee cheong fun. We don’t know what is inside the real chee cheong fun as those are secret recipe that they won't tell anyone.  Here we put in anything we like. XP





Ingredients:

A: Flour
150 g rice flour

25g tapioca flour
25 g corn flour
50 g flour
a pinch of salt

25g oil

600ml boiled water

B: The toppings: (you can modified it to your liking)

3 spring onions cut
soya sauce
dice pork meat / dice meat

50g fried shrimps
80g Jicama turnip(chinese turnip) julienne turnip
30g preserved turnip/ chai po
2 cloves of garlic
a pinch of salt
small spoon of dark black soya cause
 a pinch pepper

Steps:

1.Mix everything of the A:flour together well.  Set aside.

2.  The mix up everything of B and stir them in the wok or pan until it is cook.

3.  Boiled the water in a steamer.
4.  Oil the pan and put inside the pan to heat it up first.
5.  Pour a thin sliced of mixture of A:Flour. Make sure it is even.
6.  Sprinkle the B:toppings on top.
7.  Steam it for 8 minutes.
8. Remove the chee cheong fun when it is still warm or else it will stick to the pan. Served with green chillies and soya sauces.




 Do try it and see if you like it.

RANDOM: HOW TO COLOUR SEA SCENERY

Dearest readers,

Today is just a day when I don't feel like doing anything, stress going up to the roof and people are testing your patience.  I have one of those days too. T_T

I like to draw although I am actually not very good in it.  It is actually self taught since I don't get to go for art classes.  Most Asian parents like mine doesn't encourage it and find that drawing is a waste of time.  I don't get to draw or colour at home so if I do colour, it has to be a secret. .

Anyhow, here is a drawing inspired by my feelings.  I didn't use any pencil in this drawing.  I just use the white pastel colour to draw the outline of it.(just the rock).  There is not smudging here.

I am only using the 6 colours-yellow, brown, dark blue, light blue, black and white.

If you are interested on how I come up with this, here is the few simple steps:

Ingredients: 6 main pastel colour (yellow, brown, dark blue, light blue, black and white) You can use pencil colour too.

1. draw outline with white pastel colour.

2. Use the yellow to colour the rock. Just colour anywhere you like and leave some empty white space.Use the dark brown to colour on the yellow and places near the water. Use the black to top it on the outline of the rock.

3..  Use the light blue to colour the flow of the water.  Leave some empty white spaces near those rocks where the waves will hit.  Use the dark blue to darken it.  Lastly, use the black to lightly draw on the outline.

4.  Just colour the light blue from the left to outside to the inside.  Leave some empty spaces in upper centre.  Then use the dark blue to darken some part follow up by black.  Then use the grey to fill up some spaces between the two colours.

5. Finally, use the white pastel to clear up and lighten up some part.

As you can see, my rocks look weird XP.

KOREAN SKINCARE ROUTINE 2015 FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN

Many had actually emailed me and asked me to recommend products for acne prone skin.  Actually I am not in a position to tell what you should buy because I haven't get to try all the products in the world as well as my limited knowledge to what I had tried and what works for me.  Besides, I am not a certified dermatologist who is trained with many years of knowledge about skin.

I am just a self-taught person who through trial and errors found products suitable for me.

Before getting whatever I use, please check your age, skin types, your allergies(acne prone skin are known to be allergic to few things namely nuts, milk, sugar or medicine) and your type of acne (cystic, small localised bumps, pustules, blackheads or whiteheads).

Currently my skin is not bad but it is not perfect.  I still have those box scars and only procedure can remove it.  By the way, if you are pregnant, then I don't suggest you to use exactly what I used.


I am actually already in my late 20s so the type of skincare products I used are different from teenagers because adult skin can't take any harsh beating. Skin also heal way slower than the teenagers thus the scars =( .

Nevertheless here is what I actually use when I have pimples/trouble/acne.


Cleanser

Natural skincare cleanser- a'kin sandalwood and neroli pure facial cleansing gel (combination skin)
Drugstore - cetaphil gentle skin cleanser (dry skin) (if you do not mind paraben) Amazon link
Ayurveda-Himalaya Purifying gel cleanser (for oily skin and for men) Amazon Link


These two are my favourite cleansers after trying so many in the market.  Cetaphil has paraben if you don't mind.  I don't use cleanser specifically for acne because they are mostly drying.



Acne/pimples cream
Hoe T3 Mycin Clindamycin Gel 1% (afternoon)

Here are my few favourites.  I had tried so many and will still come back to these.  They are not from expensive brands but they work wonders.  Clindamycin is a type of antibiotic so stay away from it if you are allergic to aspirin or antibiotic.  Differin is a type of gentle retinoid but I think one need prescription if you are from the US.  In Malaysia, you can just get it from pharmacies.

Pure tea tree oil is generally recommended for oily skin type and do not use it too much as it is can be toxic.  It works.

Nixoderm is actually sulfur and it works wonderfully but do not apply too much as it will burnt your face.  Mmm, after all beauty is pain?

I love calamine to heal the skin and to reduce the size of the pimples but of course you can only use it at night or else looking like a ghost with white patches around the face.

It is really important to use moisturiser since acne prone skin get irritated when it is dry.  Even if you have oily skin, you should use one.  Marula oil works the best on irritated skin but it is the most expensive one out of the four but if you have the money, you should try it.



Blackheads&whitehead

skinmiso pore beauty nose pack from koreaIf you only have blackheads and whiteheads on the nose then try this.  I think it is still the best even after trying so many brands for blackheads and whiteheads.  This is the only one that hasn't fail me and still work despite using it for few years.



If you are wondering why I didn't recommend toner, serum or emulsion, it is because my skin is too irritated to be able to use too many things when I have pimples so I will just use few products.  You should use sunscreen during the day even when you have pimples to prevent further damage to the skin.

Linden Leaves is very famous for their body oil with real ingredients in it. One of their most famous one would be the Memories body oil which has a stalk of rose inside the bottle.  Of course it is more unique to receive a bottle with flowers that will not wilt.

What I have here for today is the Absolute Dreams body oil which contains lavender flowers in it.  Of course it is not as romantic as receiving a stalk of rose but I prefer lavender for the relaxing properties and you can use it as a bath oil or as massage oil.

Here is the list of ingredients.  There is no harmful ingredients in it as the products contains natural ingredients of oil blends. The parfum are from essential oils as well.

Absolute dreams body oil comes in gold yellowish liquid and it is quite thick but the application is easy and absorb well into the skin leaving no trace of stickiness.  The smell is absolutely soothing. I love the lavender scent that is not overpowering.  My skin is still lightly scented with lavender even after few hours.

Since it contains vitamin E, it will help with dry skin and also help to prevent stretch marks. I think it would make a useful gift during special occasions such as anniversary, birthdays, Valentines or Christmas exchange.

Application is easy because of the tip.  Just press the tube and the lipbalm will come out.  The lipbalm has yellowish transparent waxy gel.  There is smell of bubblegum.  One only need a little for the lips.  It does moisturise my lip and feel minty because of the menthol ingredients in it.  However, I am not sure about other beneficial effect that I can see from using it for a week. After all, our lips doesn't have oil gland that makes it prone to acne.
