MY HAUL AT HISHOP

Last month, I did a haul from HiShop.  Personally, there are many things that I wanted to buy but since am broke so I only did a little haul from it.  So, here is what I bought.

Personally, service was okay since I bought everything on a public holiday so they get back to me a few days later.  The courier was really fast as HiShop email back to me on Monday and I got my things on Tuesday itself via Gdex.  They also send the tracking number to me so that I can track your things incase it get lost somewhere.  Their customer service was good as they replied to your message the next day itself.

I always have to worry about my things since some certain courier will not even message or call me to tell me that my things have arrived and then they will just send my things back to the original sender!  How pissed I was when that happened to me since I couldn't be going to that courier counter everyday and ask if my things has arrived?  I would look like an idiot.

So, personally I prefer Post Laju or Gdex here.  Fast, efficient and good.

So, I got this question to help answer from Clinic Natta Cosme.  I am a believer that one should use cotton pad to use toner.  This is because there is difference between using and not using toner.  Let me tell you a story about how important of using cotton pad to apply toner on the face.

Here is the story about using cotton pads:

A: This toner is no good!  I don't see any difference on my face.

B: How come?  Everyone said that it is good.  Are you using it with cotton pad?

A: Really?  I only pat it on my face using my hand.

B: *horrified*.  It doesn't work that way!  You should use cotton pad. Bla bla bla.....

After one week

A: I am in love with this toner!  Thanks for telling me the correct way of using the toner.

B: Glad that it work for you. (it is important to use cotton pads)

This is a true story of the importance of using cotton pad to apply toner.  Some people may not find it importance to get good cotton pad or soft cotton pad but to me it does make a difference.  It is not necessary to choose expensive or branded cotton pad if you can't afford it as long as you choose some fluffy cotton pad that doesn't hurt the skin.  Some cotton pad are really rough to use, so avoid those.

Using the cotton pad correctly help to clean the skin from all the dead cells and dirt accumulated through the day.  It will also allows the skin to absorb the importance ingredients from serum, essence or moisturiser later.  You don't want those precious ingredients to just stay on top of your skin right?  Besides that, cotton pads have even surface that allow the toner to cover all the area of the skin so that our skin is clean throughout.  This can't be done if we are just using our hands.  Besides that our hands is full with bacteria and using your hands to use the toner is asking for trouble.  It means you are putting bacteria on your skin.

There are two side to the cotton pads and I always utilise both side.  I realise this method work with most of the toner that I am using.  Your skin will be more plump up and softer after that.  Try it yourself to see the differences.


How to use the toner:
1.  Pour about 3.5cm/1,5inch of toner on to the cotton pad.  Make sure it is really wet up to the other side.  It is optional to use two cotton pads.
2.  Then swipe on the T zone first (your nose, and forehead), then swipe on the other area.  Only go through your skin one time.  Don't swipe more than once.  Your skin is not some rough tree bark.
3.  Then turn over to the other side.  Use the other side to pat the toner onto the skin 2-3 few times on each area.

If you are hardworking, you can do this twice a day for faster effect.  Don't do this more than twice a day.  Nothing good will come of being overboard.

Warning-don't do the "swiping method" if your skin is super sensitive to friction.

DIET TIPS-EAT LIKE A KING IN THE MORNING

Seriously there is not fast rules towards a slim body or healthy body. I  can tell you that I am lazy to exercise.  The only exercise I do daily is walking to buy groceries.  For people that know me, they will tell you that I eat a lot and yet still stay slim.  The truth is I am really picky when it comes to food.  I don't eat anything that doesn't taste good or should you say my mum spoiled me with chinese 'Dim Sum'. If only I inherited my mum's genes to make Chinese dim sum.

Okay, let us move to this one important diet tips that is I must eat breakfast everyday and it must be heavy one.  However, most will say that they get worry if they will gain more weight if they eat heavy breakfast.  I can tell you it doesn't work that way.

One rules my family follow until now is have breakfast like a King, have lunch like a Prince and have dinner like a Pauper.

However, most people do it the other way around.  So, there goes your waist too.

I am out of my breath looking at how much DIY they did to all the wrapping of the things. I thought I will just get a bottle of Thayers Rose Petal and that's it. I can't believe my eyes when I see all the other thoughtful extras inside the box. LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

Thayers Rose Petal is very popular in the western countries. I heard so much about them until I know that Natta Cosme do sell them here. This toner is amazing for dry skin. Since rose is well known ingredients for dry skin and aloe vera for soothing, I think this is a really fantastic product for dry skin or just to cool down the skin.


Rests assure that you won’t break the bottle as it is made of plastic. Good for clumsy people who has butter hands like me. Everything just slips out of my hands easily. 355 ml can last me some time. I think it is really worth the money and the bottle is really practical and easy to use.


When I open the cap, I was greeted by the wonderful smell of roses.  It is like having a a bottle of roses perfumed water.  The liquid is transparent and watery. It also get absorb into the skin real fast.  There are three ways I use this toner-as toner with cotton pad, mask and also as mist.

how I use Thayers toner

When I used the toner with cotton pad, it is moisturizing and I think that it does cleanse my skin without feeling strip of moisturiser and it doesn't make my skin having the 'tight' feeling. It doesn't aggravate my sensitive condition as I am quite sensitive with products. After using for a week, I release that my forehead does look more hydrated and my skin is not oily. I think it must be this Thayer toner!



Make sure you wet at least diameter of 2cm or else there wouldn't be any benefits in using it. Do not be stingy with products. =)


I also tried using it with the compressed mask on my skin. Just wet the compressed mask with the toner and put it on the face for 5 to 10 minutes. It works just like a hydrating mask =). Put the toner inside the fridge for better effect.


I pour some of the Thayers Rose Petal Toner into an empty spray bottle and just spray on my face when I feel dry or to refresh my face. It works to set up makeup too.


Overall, Thayers Rose Petal toner works great to moisturize your skin and hydrate it especially if you have dry skin or to heal skin when you get sunburn.

TIPS: THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BB CREAM AND CC CREAM

When the market was hit by BB cream, everyone went crazy with BB cream and now the market are hit by another tsunami of craze that is the CC cream. Unfortunately this CC cream comes with so many names such as cream control, cream correct, colour correcting and complete control. With this BB cream and CC cream, I am sure you are just as confuse on what are the differences between this two. Here is a little breakout between the two.

BB Cream-Blemish Balm focuses more on covering acne scarring and uneven skin tone caused by acne. The texture are slightly heavier than cc cream and are not waterproof. Besides, BB cream only has one colour which could cater to different skin tone.

CC Cream - Correct CC cream will have the colour change effect and complexion correct to create the radiant glow with the help of light diffusing particles in it. The cream usually changes the colour from white to light beige. 

The Control CC cream is for the brightening up and complexion care effect. Usually one can mix this type of CC cream with BB cream for the extra benefits.

On the other hand, most CC cream are waterproof but provide sheerer coverage. One can use them as makeup base. Besides, that most CC has few colour selection to cater to different to skin tone.

So, CC cream is not the same as BB cream or the upgraded version of BB cream.

REVIEW ON MONTAGNE JEUNESSE APRICOT SCRUB

As a girl, I think everyone wanted a better and flawless skin.  Although I am not a scrub loving person, I am going to give this a try since my skin is recently clogged because I have been consuming food high in dairy, sugar and meat.  If you do not remove all the things clogging the pores, then all benefits from your serum or moisturiser would work on your skin.

I usually do my own facial at home since it is cheaper although you will need to get everything ready yourself.  So, I incorporate this scrub and mask into it.  I would usually followed up with a sheet mask after that.

This scrub is use to exfoliate for a radiant, glowing complexion. Your tired, dull looking skin will be radically transformed to smooth, bright looking healthier skin. It is suitable For vegans, gluten Free, dairy free with no added parabens.

Here is the list of ingredients: Aloe Vera, Apricot, Evening Primrose, Green Tea and Mango

Here is the direction to use them: Cleanse face and dry. Apply evenly over face and neck with fingertips, avoiding eyes and lips. Lie back & relax for 5-10 minutes, or until dry. Rinse off with warm water. Pat dry. Use weekly.

It is suitable for combination, dry,normal and oily skin. It is not recommended for sensitive skin though since there is particle and the skin might react to scrubs.

First of all, it smell of walnut which can be quite delicious but please don't eat it.  The scrub are quite tiny but it can be harsh if you scrub too hard.  So, only massage gently and leave it to dry for about 10minutes.  It was super easy to wash it off the face and my face felt super clean after that.  =)

My skin become more refined and soft.  Definitely an effective mask to clean the skin. It is budget friendly mask and you can use it two times.  Moreover, it is organic and natural.

Sheet  masks may one look silly for 20minutes but it is fine since no one is going to look at me.  Using a sheet mask is good to cool down the dry peeling skin especially in a country like Malaysia.  It is scorching hot here-34 degrees at night especially when one is living near the sea like me.

Although the mask sheet is thin, it doesn't drip at all!

The fit is great.  It is just enough for my face and there wouldn't be too much of extra at the side.  The mask adhere to my face properly and the essence does not drip at all.  There isn't extra essence inside the mask as the sheets mask soaked it all.  The sheet mask is still moist even after 30 minutes.  So, I think this is excellent =0.  My face does look brighter and moist the next day =0.

The sheet mask is a little brownish but fear not as it is the colour of the essence is from fermentation process.  It smelt a little like yeast used in baking bread but the smell isn't overpowering.  Using this for a few times and the skin will definitely be as soft as baby since fermented  precious medicinal herbs is really good for skin =).  Kind on your pocket too.

Overall, I do like the mask very much.  The cooling and moisturise level is great.  Do try them out.

I have been waiting to try the eye cream for some time since it is organic and was hoping that my eyes doesn't get sensitive towards them.  It's been some time since I last try any eye cream and normally eye creams are usually expensive and well if we want to splurge on it, we will have to make sure that it is effective.

I don't have dark eye circles but I have bulging eye bags since young that made me look tired.  Yeah and after that serious allergy, I do not dare to use any cheap or unknown eye cream anymore.  However, since this is a organic brand from French, I feel more confident and less worried.  It does help moisturising my eyes area.  I can actually feel the taut feeling but since I don't have wrinkles,  I couldn't see the effects on wrinkles.  It is just my genetic eye bags are still there.  One can't do anything when it is genetic.

TIPS: 7 MYTHS ABOUT SUNSCREEN

We do know about the benefits of using sunscreen until I came upon an article discussing about the danger of using chemical sunscreen in your life. I was quite shocked to read it saying that using chemical sunscreen is one of the reason people gets cancer as the toxic gets absorb into the body. Sometimes, there are so many mix reviews until we do not who to believe. I have compiled some of myth about sunscreen and my views on it.



Myth 1: Chemical Sunscreen Cause Cancer
No, it is not true. It is not like the chemical inside the sunscreen get absorb into our skin all the time. The particle of the sunscreen is way too big to be absorbed into the skin. Well, there are some pills that can be use as sunscreen but for those applied sunscreen, it is not possible to get absorb into the skin. Do we actually feel the taste of the sunscreen we applied on our skin after 30minutes? Well, I don’t know about you but don’t taste anything.  I have been using chemical sunscreen for more than 16 years so i wonder if that is true.

As for those natural sunscreen, normally they would not contain as much as UVA and UVB blocker as in chemical sunscreen. Besides, how sure you are of how natural they are unless you grow them behind your garden and mix the ingredients yourself.

For me, natural and chemical sunscreen are quite the same as long as they are effective enough to prevent the skin from burning.



Myth 2: Wear Sunscreen Even Indoor

Gosh, I don’t wear sunscreen indoor as I don’t get burn or any darker unless you are always sitting next to the window where you get direct sunlight. Sunscreen cause me clogged pores so I don’t wear them unless I need to when I go outside. It is really frustrating when I don’t want any dark spots but do not want clogged pores.

A friend told me that her dermatologist told her to only wear it at the cheek and also nose area as that area is more prone to get dark spots. We don’t get dark spot at our forehead. I find that is true.

I do wear sunscreen with 130 pa+++ only when I go swimming at the sea for 5hours as the salty water plus the sunlight is really burning my skin. For that, I applied on the whole face and everywhere on my body 30minutes before I go into the water. I don’t reapply though as I would look like an idiot waiting for another 30minutes before going into the water again.





Myth 3: Sunscreen Clogged Pores


This is actually true for my acne prone skin. I find that sunscreen do blocked the pores and cause acne especially for acne prone skin. It is even worse if you like wearing layer after layer of skincare and makeup.

That is why sunscreen should be removed at night or else you will get clogged pores and worse acne forming on your face. Well, if you don’t wear sunscreen, your skin will create a lot of sebum and cause acne too.

So, choosing and using the suitable sunscreen for your face is important. I learn it the hard way so that is why I am sharing it here. Not everyone have clear skin all the time so do I.





Myth 4: All Sunscreen are The Same

Actually, there are many differences in the ingredients inside the sunscreen. Some sunscreen contains physical blocker such as titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. There is usually a white cast when wearing them. Besides, one also has to wear it 30minutes earlier to be effective. Once, I only wear the sunscreen using physical blocker on the spot and it make me burned even though I was wearing sunscreen.

Other chemical such as Meroxyl SX, helioplex and avobenzone also work differently to block the UVA and UVB. It is stable and doesn’t break down easily too and doesn’t clog the pores as much.

About which one works better, it is still a question of debate. Some said that it is physical sunscreen and some said it is chemical sunscreen.





Myth 5: The high the SPF and PA, the better


Not really. Choose a sunscreen with wide broad spectrum and suitable for your purpose. There is no point using high SPF and PA when you are just staying indoor most of the time as those ingredients stay on top of the skin and cause clogged pores.

So, choose one suitable for the skin and apply enough for the cheek area.

I don’t usually use sunscreen on my leg as I find that long thick jeans are better at blocking the harmful ray than sunscreen. Clothing is an amazing UVA and UVB blocker =). Maybe now, you would start thinking of wearing cover up clothes.





Myth 6: I don’t need sunscreen because my makeup contain Sunscreen

This is a myth most people know that is not true. Unless the makeup doesn’t slick off your face and they are really opaque, chance it would not be enough.



Myth 7: Sunscreen will make my dark spot and pigmentation disappeared

Normally, many would not wear sunscreen until the day they see dark spot starts appearing on the skin. Then, normally they will ask for sunscreen that will make the dark spot disappear or at least get rid of it.

No, sunscreen doesn’t get rid of dark spot. This is a wrong preconception that sunscreen will make your dark spot disappear. Sunscreen will only prevent dark spot from appearing but does not get rid of it. If using sunscreen will make the dark spot disappear, what is the purpose of laser and ingredients such as Vitamin C, hydroquinone or retinol?

So, there would still be in need of using skincare products that contain brightening products to lighten the dark spot.





I hope that my view on this is helpful =).  I am believer in using sunscreen but not 24hours and 7 days all the time.  Moderation is the key to using sunscreen correctly =).

REVIEW ON MELVITA SKIN SOFTENING NOURISHING BODY MILK

It is moisturising but the moisture doesn't last very long.  The absorption rate of the milky lotion was quite slow.  My skin's ability to absorb things are below average so that is why it doesn't absorb as fast as for other people.  Even my healing ability is slow =(   .

The body milk really smell exactly like honey plus milk.  If you don't like honey plus milk, then you won't like this.  It does help with the dry patches I have on my legs.  It felt that it does soften the skin but the feeling does not last long so one would have to reapply the next day.

I think it is not bady for a body lotion since the cream is not thick or oily at all.  It won't leave you with a sticky feeling .  If you love organic products, this is one for you.  Melvita products are from France =0.

REVIEW ON CLEAN&CLEAR FRUIT ESSENTIALS FACIAL CLEANSER PURIFYING APPLE

I am sure that there are many who used Clean&Clear products before.  So did I until my skin turned 180 degree because I don't take care of it at all.  However, it remain a favourite with my family members.

Over the years, I bought my mum many types of cleansers and she everytime she would still tell me that she still prefer Clean&Clear.  My family are very loyal to this brand unlike me who stray from one to another.  Many told me that this brand is for teenagers but if it works well with your skin, I think why you should you stop using it?  After all, the purpose of cleanser is to clean the skin and unlike other products that provides the skin with essential benefits.  My mum find this is the one most useful in cleaning her face.

So, this is the new types of cleanser that contains bursting beads.  The bursting beads will  provide the skin with gentle exfoliation for thoroughly clean deep into your pores.  The liquid contains small beads that cleans my skin and leave it quite soft.  I think this is a great cleanser for people with oily skin and I find my nose clean properly without feeling dry.  The smell of green apple is great and i can feel refreshed after using it =)  .  Those with dry skin will find it drying though.  Overall this is a budget effective cleanser.

REVIEW ON MONTAGNE JEUNESSE ORANGE OIL &VITAMIN C PEEL OFF FACE MASQUE

The orange oil&vitamin C peel off masque is under the face food range that get two sachets for the price of one.  Their mask are made from natural ingredients and well I would say effective and cheap.  Definitely one of my favourite drugstore products ^^.

Cleanse face and dry. Apply thinly and evenly over face and neck with fingertips, avoiding eyes, lips and hair. Relax for 5-10 minutes or when totally dry gently peel off masque (never pull) wash off any stuck bits with water. Pat dry. Use weekly.

The packet smell full of Vitamin C and oranges.  The gel is quite thick, transparent and orange clear.  The amount inside the packet is enough for the whole face.  I like everything that smell like orange so i loveeee this too.  The mask is easy to apply as well as easy to peel off too.  I don't find any fray left behind after i peeled them off.  My face does look much brighter too.  I usually use this kind of mask at night.  If you use vitamin C and go out without sunblock in the day time, your skin will turn even darker.  Vitamin C is very sensitive with harmful rays from the sun and it will hurt the skin even more if you do not wear any sun protection.  So, i suggest using this when you are not planning to go out to achieve better benefits.  By the way, don't use it on broken skin.  If you like peel-off mask, brighter skin and also oranges, i guess this mask is suitable for you. ^^

HOW TO USE:

5. Remove the mask, and let the skin absorb the remaining essence by gently patting the skin.


The mask comes with pictures and instruction in English to help non Korean to understand how to use the pack. The rest is in Korean which I couldn't understand.

The mask looks big on me because I have a small face.  The fit is nice and comfortable.  It is rather soothing and cooling to the face especially in a humid and hot country such as Malaysia.  It is still 35 degree at night
=(. Using a mask is really good way to cool down the face and moisturise the skin.  It just like having a facial at home with such a cheap price =0.

The colour of the powder mask for Overlab Yellow Pumpkin is more obvious than Overlab Orange Mandarin.

Just like the Orange mandarin, there is some smell to this mask but I am fine with it =) .  There are a lot of extra ampoule which I used with the mask on my neck after pampering my face.  It really soften my skin and I can still feel the skin moisturise the next day.

The only thing that I dislike about this Overlab mask was probably it is so thin that the ampoule tend to drip onto my clothes. =(   I prefer the Clinic Mediheal Cacao ADE Mask because of the mask sheet texture =)

REVIEW ON BAYER ASPIRIN MASK

 I like to use the aspirin mask when I have breakouts.  Aspirin is actually also known as acetylsalicylic acid turned into salicylic acid when mixed with water.  However, recently all the Dispirin which is also aspirin is all out of stocks.  Everywhere I went, it is all out of stocks =(  .   So, I have no choice and bought this  Bayer Aspirin instead.  It should be the same since it is Aspirin.  My mum thought that I wanted to commit suicide by buying such a huge packet of medicine.  I have to explain to her that it is medicine for my face and not for consumption purposes =P.

For many people who always have clogged pores and acne, this is definitely a saviour.  The Bayer Aspirin tablet is actually bigger than Dispirin so the quantity needed for a face mask is also lesser.  I have to use 2 tablets if i am using Dispirin but will only need 1 table for Bayer aspirin.

However, the Bayer Aspirin seems to produce beads that is actually larger than Dispirin.  Both will give me the same effect on my skin so that is really fine if i couldn't have Dispirin anymore.

I tend to use Aspirin in two ways- with water or mix it with Aloe vera.  Don't worry about using it with Aloe Vera unless aloe vera make you feel itchy.  I am using about one tablet spoon of Fruit of Earth aloe vera to mix it with one tablet of Bayer Aspirin.  The result is more cooling and there would not be flakes forming on the skin fast.

Using with water would be drying on the skin but it works too fine too if you got oily skin=) .


If you are out of Panadol for headaches, you can use this Bayer Aspirin too but make sure your stomach is not empty since it is acidic.  Besides, make sure you are not below 16 years to consume this medicine.  Only use it for external use if possible.
