REVIEW ON ORION CHOCO PIE

Hi foodies,

One of the things I love are snacks and thanks to Jing Jung Sung official website I get this nice famous Orion choco Pie from Korea.

So here is the review on Orion choco pie which you can also buy online.

Orion has been making snacks since many years ago and it is one of the oldest company in Korea for snacks.  This choco pie is the original flavour and they do have another flavour which I hope to try in the future.

Packaging:  The is a box for 12 packs. Inside is the choco pie with sealed foil packaging printed in Korean Hangul wording.  The wording is the name of the company Orion and the flavour which is chocolates.

Review:  This choco pie reminds me of the olden time snacks which is like in the 80s where snacks are simple but still delicious.  Orion choco pie is two round layers of cake, with marshmallow filling in the middle  and a chocolate covering the whole cakes.  The cakes is similar to pound cake texture with medium softness and slight dryness but not to the point of stuck inside my throat.  It is balanced out with the sweetness from the chocolates with the softness of the marshmallow.  The marshmallows in Choco-Pie contain gelatin obtained from pigs.


Overall, Orion choco pie chocolate flavour is a nice Korean snacks and I do enjoy it very much.

WHAT ARE RETINOID (TRETINOIN, RETIN A, TAZAROC, ADAPALENE AND RETINOL)

Retinoid is HG and magic ingredients of beauty world.  Even dermatologists recommend it being the world best thing you can do for your skin.

What is retinoid?
retinoids is an umbrella term for derivatives of vitamin A.
retinoic acid which are prescription level drugs such as tretinoin, tazarotene and adapalene.
Over the counter (OTC) products usually contain retinol which is a weaker form.
There is also retinyl palmitate which is combination of retinol and the fatty acid palmitic acid.

Retinoids are “cell communicating” ingredients. They “tell” healthier, younger skin cells to make their way to the surface of the skin faster. This is called cell turnover. The increase in skin cell turnover helps our pores stay clear and increases collagen production which make skin younger.

That is why people called it HG for anti aging.
There are also tretinoin is gel, cream and lotion with different percentage.  Cream can cause clogged pores while gel can be more drying.

SKINCARE ANSWERS THAT WILL MAKE YOU ANGRY

What if you just want your skincare questions answered?  Reading hundreds of articles? Nah, that is not smart at all.  So, you go to the skincare forum and post your question there.  After a day, there is only one or no answers at all.  So if any of your questions are listed here, here are the answers.
Here is the skincare answers that will make you angry.

1.  What is THE best skincare product to get rid of my acne overnight?

You either get product recommendation of the usual popular brands, generic brands such as Cerave, Cetaphil, La Roche Posay or to go for actives (AHA, BHA, retinoid etc).  No one could actually tell you one specific product that magically work overnight.  If your acne is more than mild, it is usually recommended to just visit a good dermatologist for more invasive treatment.

2.  How can I get rid of my pimples overnight naturally?

If there is, the dermatologist probably will be out of work.  The fastest is just steroid shot which is not good in the long run.  You can if it is tiny whiteheads but if it cystic, nothing natural works overnight.  Natural also does not mean it is safe since we have the poisonous natural lead.

3.  What are the best skincare products under USD4?

Sorry, do your own research.  There are just too many products out there and we don’t test all the thousands of brands out there for the best price and best ingredients for every skin type.

4.  (insert brand) is this going to cure my acne forever?

Nobody knows if it is 100% going to work for you.  Not even your dermatologist whom learns a lot about using medicine to clear up your skin.

5.  I use cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. Why I don’t have glow up?

It is basic skincare routine.  If you want more, you do need to do more than just basic skincare products.

6.  I have tried everything; none of them work to get rid of my acne. Recommend me something that will work.

See a good dermatologist since you tried everything.  Most of the time, you are using all the strong actives on your face at once with no patch testing and without a proper gentle hydrating skincare routine.  Recipe for more damage skin barrier and more angry pimples on your face all at once.

Here are the reviews for Kiehl's Clearly Corrective skincare range line samples.  Since they are samples please just take it with a lot of salt since I was only able to use for a week.  I can't tell you the effect after 3 weeks or about breakouts with samples.  Still I will talk about the ingredients, texture and also the feeling on my acne prone skin skin type.

It has essential oil in it. Since it is a wash off products it is alright if you don't have allegies with it since the contact time is less than 2 min on your face. The cleanser has pH6-7 without adding water. The transparent gel does have perlite which gave it a slight scrub feeling. It has very light scent of lavender but once mixed with water and on my face there is no scent at all. It cleans my face well and is not drying.  The BHA does help with acne prone skin.

This is a light watery toner with pH5 to pH6.  It has very mild lavender scent.  It absorbs fast into the skin without any stickness and doesn't sting. I was only able to use 2 times so I can't say much about the effect.

One of the famous serum for brightening, get rid of PIE (red acne scars) and dull skin.  It is one of the stable vitamin C that you don't have to put inside the fridge.  The star ingredients are white birch extract,vitamin C and peony extract.  This is not for dry sensitive skin as there are some drying ingredients.  If you have dry skin make sure your skin is hydrated enough and don't apply just the serum alone.  This serum is watery light with slight viscosity and absorbs onto fast leaving a matte texture. My acne scars do get lighter after 3days of using.
It has a very light lavender scent that goes away once it is on the skin.




Kiehl Clearly Corrective Brightening and Smoothing Moisture Treatment

Ingredients:

This is a moisturiser that supports brightening. It is a gel moisturiser which is suitable for combination to oily skin type. The essential oils are in the middle of the list so it can be a problem only if you are sensitive to certain essential oils. The light texture that goes down to a smooth texture for a makeup base. It has scent of lavender.

It is a 100% mineral-based filter sunscreen and marketed for sensitive and acne-prone skin.  It is a light yellowish oil free lotion with vitamin E and broad spectrum technology.

Sorry I can't use this on my face since I have fungal acne problem on my face.  On my hands, it does absorb fast leaving a slight dewy look.





Overall, Kiehl Clearly Corrective line are for those looking for more from their skincare routine especially in making their skin look for radiant.  If you are looking for just one product from this line, probably try out Kiehl clearly corrective dark spot solution.  As most of the products are in 3ml samples so I can't really test out more than a few days except for the spot solution and the smoothing moisture treatment.

Usage:
After washing hands, take the mask out of the pouch.
Apply it onto clean face.
Place mask over eye area first, then spread over entire face.
Leave on for 5-10 mins.
Remove the mask and pat skin with the folded mask to abosrb excess product.

Hokkaido pearl barley seed extract which is also job tear.  It use to clear heat from the body and for brightening.
Honey is great for hydration and for calming acne prone skin
Hydroxypropyltrimonium hyaluronate is a skin conditioning ingredient originally developed for the contact lens industry to maintain moisture and counteract dry eye

The rest the ingredients are for hydration, emulsifier, texture, pH adjusting and preservatives.

Texture and Scent:  It has transparent liquid esence.  The scent isn't the normal lavender scent that most people are used to.  It has the light floral lavender scent.  The sheet mask size is for small face.  The cut of the eye holes and mouth is asian size .  If you have deep set eyes, probably have to adjust it a bit. The cotton material is thin enough for sheet mask.

Review:  The sheet mask lasted on me for about 20minutes before it starts to dry out.  It is actually more than the 10minutes recommended time for sheet mask.  It does hydrate and brighten my skin.

Overall:  Lululun is an affordable daily sheet mask, skin hydration, relaxing and for travelling.

REVIEW ON TOPICIL CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE TOPICAL SOLUTION

Acne just appeared one day but do not magically disappeared.  It is just giving confidence problem and sadness.  If this sounds like you, you are one of the millions that are plague by the common skin problems that is acne.  Then hope is not gone since we live in 21st century and access to information online.

I am also one of the person with bad pizza skin and have been dealing with it for more than 20years.  I am not going into accutance or be on pill.


So,  I got the Topicil clindamycin phosphate topical solution which is different from the I used and recommended in the past HERE .

Dermatologists usually prescribe clindamycin for inflammatory, cystic acne type and for acne treatment.
Clindamycin works by killing the bacteria that cause acne breakouts to develop from whiteheads and blackheads into inflamed.  Also make sure to eat more fishes or take sme fish oil because clindamycin reduce free fatty acid levels on the skin.  The research mentioned that approximately 14 % to 2 % following application of topical clindamycin.  So your skin will probably have wearker skin barrier.

Packaging:  It has 1% clindamycin and alcohol of 39.25%.  Topicil topical solution contains propylene glycol, isopropyl alcohol, and purified water. Comes in a glass bottle of 28ml or 30ml.
Shelf life 36 months. Store at or below 25°C.  It has a box but I already threw that box away 😅 .

Inside the bottle is the glue screw kind of head inside.  You cannot change the head so it isn't really hygienic in my opinion.

Ingredients talk: 
The bottle has 1% clindamycin with alcohol of 39.25%.  It also contains propylene glycol, isopropyl alcohol, and purified water.  It is flammable so becareful.

Make sure to only apply on dry skin.

Texture:  Transparent liquid that has strong alcohol scent.  After two weeks, there will be some white powdery substance around the side of the head.

Review:  It has high alcohol in it so it is actually drying on my skin.  I don't really like the packaging of the glass bottle.  I tried to make it work but I don't think it does much now for my acne problem now.  I think a gel clindamycin in a tube is still better than a glass bottle.  It is hard to travel with a  glass bottle that is flammable too.

Overall:  If you have super oily skin that can withstand strong alcohol content.

This is a soothing essence made with the single ingredient of Mugwort Extract. The refreshing fluid formula adheres and absorbs into the skin to soothe sensitive skin and recharge moisture from within.

Packaging:  The pretty heavy glass bottle with the screw feels luxurious.  The opening of the bottle is just perfect for dispensing the essence into your hands.

Ingredients:  There is only one ingredient which is the Korean mugwort, Artemisia Princeps Extract 100% .  Still plant extract is a compound so I have no idea what is the exact other ingredient besides the artemisia and water inside this bottle.


Paraben free, sulfate free, alcohol free, silicone free, Eu allergen free. fungal-acne safe (malassezia).

So it is easy to know if you are allergic to mugwort.  Mugwort is one of the ingredients for calming hormonal acne.  It is also antibacterial so it is one of the ingredients that you can use daily without drying or giving you a burn like some essential oil can.


Texture and Scent:  This watery brownish clear essence just absorbs into skin fast without stickiness.  It very suitable for combination and oily skin type.  I pat it to my skin with my hands.   You can also use it for layering on a hot humid day.  As for the scent, it does have light scent of mugwort.  I am used to the strong scent of another varities but this is pretty light.

Review:  It has calming and hydrating effect on my skin.  It does reduce irritation, acne bumps on my face and heal it after using it for 3 weeks. The effect is not immediate but with consistent usage everyday.  It doesn't clogged or cause oiliness on my skin.  I like this mugwort essence and will continue using it.  Just becareful with the glass bottle.

Overall:  I think it is great gentle organic calming essence for acne prone skin and hormonal acne.

Packaging: The yellow box comes with ingredients list in English as well in Korean.  The tube comes with a screw lid to avoid leaking during travelling.

Ingredients: As for the ingredient, it is a water based spot treatment and the sulfur being the star ingredient high in the list.  There are glycerin, vitamin E, hyaluronic acid so this product is not too drying.

No Artificial Colors, Oils or Fragrances. No Parabens. No Animal Testing. Sulphate free, silicone free, Eu allergen free.  Not fungal safe and it does have alcohol in it.

The ingredients that cause more fungal acne problems are Sorbitan Isostearate, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Glyceryl Stearate.

The rest of ingredients are most for texture, scent controlled and solvent.  I am curious as why sufactant such as Glyceryl Stearate is inside this product though.


Scent and texture: It has more of a light lotion type instead of gel actually.  The light yellow gel absorbs into my skin leaving a matte finishing.  I could also use pimple patches on top of it without it coming off.  There isn't any noticeable scent.  It smell like how most unscented skincare products are.


Review:  I find that it is not drying at all even when I use it twice everyday.  It does treat underground acne which normally doesn't disappeared without treatment.  The underground pimples will come out as whitehead after a day.  As for whiteheads, it takes about 3days to disappear.  My acne such as whiteheads don't disappeared on its own without any intervention from powerful big gun acne treatments.

As for if it treats those red acne spot, you will need to add in some vitamin C or other brightening products since this sulfur is meant for treating acne.

Avoid this spot treatment if you have fungal acne since it will trigger more problems.  My jaw suddenly broke out in fungal acne.  Other part of my face is okay though.


Overall, By Wishtrend Sulfur 3% clean gel is a spot treatment for mild to moderate acne that needs a stronger acne treatment.  Not for fungal acne though.

Swanicoco Fermentation Peptine Eye Care Cream comes in a tube which is really easy to dispense.  It is also a huge tube given that it is 45ml instead of the normal 15ml.  I think the price is justified for the amount of high grade ingredients inside this eye cream.  In fact, it is still cheaper than brands with ginseng in their eye cream.

As for the ingredients, I really love that Swanicoco put a lot of high grade ingredients in this tube of eye cream.  Fermented rice, ginseng, all the peptides, ceramides, centella asiatica, licorice, grapefruits and no colouring or added fragrance in it.

It is paraben free, sulfate free, silicone free, alcohol free, Eu allergen free. 
It is not Fungal Acne Safe since there are a lot of fermented ingredients.  I don't have problem using it on my eye's area though.

The cream is very light lotion and absorbs into my eye area keeping it hydrated.  It doesn't cause any milia or clogged pores which happen when you use something too heavy for your eye area.  There is no added scent but it does have very faint citrus scent.  I do think it keeps my eyes' area hydrated and reduce fine lines.


Overall, Swanicoco Fermentation Peptine Eye Care Cream is an affordable ginseng eye cream.
