REVIEW ON YVESOM SPIRULINA ONE STEP CLEANSER

There are so many other types of cleanser coming out that it is hard for me to keep track of everything.  Today is a review on a Korean cleanser which is the oil to foam cleanser, Yvesom Spirulina One-Step Cleanser.

If you are into Kbeauty, I am sure you have heard of the term double cleansing which involved using oil cleanser and then followed by a foam cleanser is recommended for your night routine to have a really nice clean skin.

I know it is troublesome for some people and so now some companies are coming out with oil to foam cleanser which is just a step.

Yvesom Spirulina One Step Cleanser comes with a box with ingredient list in English.


As for the ingredients, it is simple with Spirulina being the top ingredients which is 465000ppm .  Coconut oil, glycerin, Jojoba oil, Olive Oil which are for hydration and moisture.  Plant extract are acai, blueberry and cucumber are added to reduce irritation and to calm the skin.

Leptospermum petersonii is Lemon-scented teatree which is the reason that it reminds me of natural insect repellent.

Citric acid is added to reduce the pH of the cleanser.

Potassium hydroxide is the one that change fats into soap in a process called saponification which is what you call a cleanser in this oil to foam cleanser.

Yvesom Spirulina One Step Cleanser has interesting texture.  It is an yellowish oil when applied to  dry skin and then add a little water for the oil to turn into foam.  The cleansing ability is really strong. It removes everything even tint.  As for the pH of the cleanser, take it with grain of salt since I actually take it after I mix my water pH which is 7.  The pH I get from the cleanser when it turns into foam is pH7 .

The cleanser has scent that reminds me of lemongrass mosquitoes repellent  which comes from the lemon scented tea tree oil.  It is pretty strong but the scent doesn't stick to the skin once you wash off the cleanser.

I use this cleanser once every 2 days at night.  It does remove makeup even sweat proof ones and is not drying to my face.  It does help to control the oil production of my face and lessen clogged pores.  However, I find that is can be drying for dry or sensitive skin type.  This cleanser doesn't cause more acne which is nice.  Don't let it get to your eyes because it stung.


Overall, Yvesom Spirulina One Step Cleanser is a nice one step cleanser for those with oily skin or combination skin type or with pores problem. Also check the ingredients that you are not allergic to it.

Antipodes Halo Skin Brightening Facial Mud mask has a simple plastic jar with a small spatula inside.  It is a vegan product.
The products has great ingredients list with a lot of plants ingredients (Vinaza Grape, kiwi, skullcap,indian beech, pear, peony, jojoba, ) and extract for the skin.  The volcanic mud is from New Zealand and contains a lot of minerals (suphur, calcium, sodium) for the skin.  There is zinc oxide which is great for healing and calming acne prone skin.

Antipodes Halo Skin Brightening Facial Mud mask has really nice sweet berries scent.  The mud is super soft and smooth. Application on my face is a breeze since it is just like a soft butter.  15 minutes is enough for it to dry.  It doesn't crack when it dries up.  You will know it is time to wash off because the feeling of the mask 'tightening' on the face.  Washing the mud away is really easy since I comes off with water and I don't have to rub hard.

I do use it twice a week all over my face for exfoliation and to get rid of those build up sebum.  It makes my skin really smooth each time and no irritating at all. My skin does look less red and brighter with more session of the mud.  You do need to use the mask weekly to enjoy the benefits.  I enjoy the mud mask each time as my skincare always works better after using this mud mask.


Overall, Antipodes Halo Skin Brightening Facial Mud mask is a really nice organic mask to reduce sebum, blackheads and acne.  It helps to reduce skin problems, anti aging and soothe skin from pollution.

UNDER USD25 SKINCARE PRODUCTS FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN

It is not news that I have a pizza face 🍕 in the past.  I am sorry to say that adult acne just won’t just disappeared on its own.   I know many people would say it is cheaper to go to see a dermatologist but the trouble of it is just too much for me.  I rather just order products online😂 than all.

Still, I would suggest you to go see a good dermatologist if you can and don't self treat your acne like I do.

So here are the Top under USD25 skincare products for acne prone skin that I have been using to treat my acne.  There are many products out there but I haven't get to try them all because I like to test my products for at least a month.  I do use a lot of tea tree products and centella asiatica.

All the products below are the products that I have been consistently using for few months or more.  Also check the ingredients since some people cannot use lavender, alcohol or some just don't like the preservative inside some of these products.  For those have some sort of fungal acne, avoid oil cleansers and ferments.

Don't let the cheap tacky packaging fool you.  This is a sleeping mask that I have been using for a month and just love it since the day I purchase it despite the price being almost equal with the famous Laneige sleeping mask.  There are tea tree, BHA, AHA, mild form of Vitamin A, plant ingredients such as eggplant and centella asiatica inside it but it just works to flatten out those pesky cystic acne the next day.  If your skin can handle tea tree, this is surely the go to for sleeping mask.

Mugwort the other name being Artemisia has been getting popular these day for being the item that calms down the irritated skin or skin problem like acne.  I do like this mugwort mask for calming down my skin when it is irritated from the weather and keeping my skin less red.  It is the go to ingredient for those with acne prone skin but cannot use ingredients like BHA, AHA or tea tree.

This is a very gentle serum for acne prone skin so you do have to use it with other acne spot treatment else one cannot really see the effect.  It prevents underground acne from forming so I do need to use it daily. As for immediate result, I combine it with the neem herbs to reduce the duration of the acne staying on my face.

This is nice cream for cooling down the skin at night.  It is not hydrating since it is a treatment product.  It is great for skin that always feel warm.  I use this at night and it is just nice to reduce redness overnight especially if you go for laser procedures or after some extraction at those skin clinics.

It contains Totarol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract which are really ingredients that work for my skin.  This cream is also a dupe of some very expensive western brand cream.  This is a product that works on the skin if you are hardworking to apply it twice or three times a day and everyday for at least two weeks.  This is a product that I have been using for acne prone skin since 2014.  This is the product for those that have problem with sebum clogging the pores.

If Aryuvedic herbs are more of your thing, then considered trying this Neem herbs. I don't like the Neem oil and find that neem powder works better for my acne prone skin.  You can either eat the capsules one tablet per day or just use the powder topical to reduce the inflammation on the skin.  It is however not for pregnant or breastfeeding mother.  Some people also use it as an alternative to birth control for their irregular female hormone.

This is an organic gentle toner from New Zealand that is just wonderful in reducing pimples.  I use it without other serum or other skincare products except for my usual cleanser and I am surprised this just works well even when it is just a toner.  It comes in a spray form so it is easy to apply and it dries down really fast.  It doesn't have any strong actives so for those that cannot use those AHA, BHA, retinol then I guess this toner works well.  It uses Organic Raspberry Water and New Zealand Organic Hops along with some other organic seaweed to reduce acne without being too strong on the skin.  Also it doesn't contain paraben, colouring or harmful ingredients.

This is already a very popular affordable stable vitamin C that helps to reduce the red acne scars from the acne.  Besides vitamin C is photo-protective and prevent damage of skin from the UV and this potent vitamin C only needs you to use it once every three days.  You can use it under the sunscreen during the day to help with protecting your skin more.  It is a also vegans which makes it really a nice antioxidant for your skin. I also find that it brighten up my skin gradually too.

This is 100% centella asiatica and it comes in a huge bottle of 100ml.  It is safe even for pregnant mothers since it is herbs used post child birth to speed up healing during confinement.  Some people also drink the centella asiatica to just calm the skin and reduce acne.  This is a product that I do need to use with other acne products because I only see hydrating properties if I use it alone.  Combination of this with other acne products hydrate the skin reduce acne damage, reduce red scars and dark scars.

So that are all my Top under USD25 skincare products for acne prone skin without make a big hole in your pocket.  You don't have to use exactly what I use in order to get rid of your acne.  Look through the ingredients and research the product you need (a cleanser or cream or serum) .  Don't use the whole bunch of 10 products on your face because that is just recipe for disaster. Best to have around 3-5 products in your routine and there is no need for 10 long skincare steps.

Subscription beauty box is a great way to try some latest new products out there but don't want to shill that huge amount of money.  One of the Korean beauty subscription box that has been getting good review is Bomibox .

Bomibox February 2019 comes in a very pretty pink box.  Mine looks a bit rough up but nothing is damaged 😄 .  Everything inside this box are Korean products because this is a Kbeauty subscription box.  Getting a box is like a surprise for yourself. I was hoping that there is at least some products that I could use because I just don't like opening the box and there isn't 2 products that I can't wait to slap onto my face.

Bomibox February 2019 contain 2 serum/ampoule, 1 toner, 2 sheet masks, 1 acne spot patch, one hair care and one scrub mask.  So, it is 7 full size items and 1 travel size.  I do think this February box is a good value since I would use everything inside the box.

Bomibox February 2019 has pretty good selection of products and brands.  The price of products are affordable in case we like the products inside and just want to get another of it in the future.  It really pains me when I get to try an expensive products but then don't have the money to buy the full size later.  I mean can you relate to it?

The Piolang hair care is pretty great for their price so I am exciting when I saw this brand inside.  Also the Somebymi clear spot patch which I am wondering how does it fair compare to the cosrx clear fit one since they just look almost the same.  I am pretty exciting looking at this Ample:N Peptide Ampoule which has three type of peptide and looks like a bottle of worms 😂 .

As for sheet mask, Nature Republic and JM Solution are both great brand for sheet mask so I can feel safe using them or during travelling. Secret Key Rose toner comes in a huge bottle which is really great for those that just buck of their money.  You can also use it with compressed sheet mask for DIY cheap sheet mask. G9  white in milk capsule serum is a bottle pump moisturising brightening serum which contains milk, squalane, ceramide, rice ferment filtrate and bean ferment filtrate.

The least excitement is the scrub but I am relieve that it is a travel size and from Huxley.  Let me be honest that I no longer use physical scrub with walnut shell powder and sucrose now since my acne prone skin tends to get irritated. I will use it as lip scrub though since my lips are just always dry.

Overall, Bomibox is a great box for people who are new into Korean skincare products, looking for budget friendly value for money beauty box, looking for affordable new Korean products to try and just be smart about their money.

If you are into dyeing your hair then today review is a hair products made with natural ingredients which is really gentle even for damaged hair.

It is the Shikai Color Reflect Gold Shampoo which made in USA since 1970 with natural ingredients.  Shikai Borage Therapy has won award at the 6th Malaysian Harper’s Bazaar Hair Awards 2017.

Hair shampoos for dyed hair are actually very gentle so even people without dyed hair can use it.  It is made not to cause further damaged on the scalp so if you have irritated scalp, you can actually use them.

Shikai Color Reflect Gold Shampoo doesn't come with conditioner because it is already very gentle on its own.  My hair is so soft and silky after just washing with it that I don't even to comb my hair.  It has light citrus scent which is really uplifting for me.  I don't have dyed hair so of course the colour does not show up on my hair. It does make my hair shiny by each wash.  The shampoo cleanses the scalp well, does not leave any residue and not drying at all.  Shikai Color reflect gold shampoo extends color treatments with natural sunflower extract (Heliogenol™), a UV filter with pH of 5-6.

What I like about Shikai Color reflect shampoo is it helps to retain the colour of your dyed hair for longer period of time since it contains natural ingredients to protect the colouring without damaging the scalp and hair.  The ingredients presented in this shampoo are from plants, cruelty free and does not contain animal ingredients.  The plants ingredients are also really on the list of ingredients making it great for vegans and safe even for children hair type.  The shampoo contains pH of 5-6 which is really mild and suitable for our scalp.

The brightening are prepared by special extract prepared from chamomile flowers. Chamomile contains a natural brightener that spotlights yellow and golden tones. The lightening effect is great for blonde, light brown and red hair. The colour will become obvious with continued use. So, there is not bleaching or damage to the hair at all.

Overall, Shikai Color reflect shampoo is safe for colour treated hair and all hair types.  It is also easy for travelling since one only need to carry one shampoo.  I would recommend it to any scalp type, love natural ingredients, into low pH gentle shampoo and affordable hair products.
