Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner has a pH level of 5.5 to effectively balance your skin. Peony extract, licorice water 10% , Cimicifuga, Green tea extract and Arrowroot- to calm skin skin, add luminosity, helps calm and reduce pigmentation, including acne scars and dark spots. After use, skin feels clean and smooth.  It is for balancing and removing any impurities left on the skin after cleansing to help with the rest of the products in your routine absorb better.

How to use:
Pour a moderate amount onto a cotton pad and wipe across the face along skin texture.

Packaging: No box.  The dark plastic bottle has information in English and Hangul.  The opening is just right for dispensing the toner 

Ingredients talk: 

Paraben free, sulfate free, alcohol free, Eu allergen free, silicone free and reef safe

not fungal-acne safe (malassezia). The ingredient being Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate .

There is oil and fragrance in Citrus Aurantium Bergamia Fruit Oil. 

It is a water based toner with main plant ingredient as Licorice.  

Licorice is popular for soothing effect and reduce inflammation on skin. Glycyrrhizin can reduce redness, irritation and swelling on sensitive skin type.

Rheum Palmatum, guava leaf&Camellia Sinensis are for hydrating skin and healing.

Rosa Hybrid, Perilla, Poncirus Trifoliata&Citrus Aurantium Bergamia are antiseptic, astringent and anti-inflammatory.

Texture: Brownish light watery liquid that absorbs without any stickiness. It has herbal floral scent which disappeared once dries down.

Review: The licorice water 10% and other plant ingredients has a nice calming scent on me.  It has pH5.5 which is good for sensitive skin or for those living with hard water or using cleanser with higher pH.  I use it with cotton pad and find that it is hydrating, calming, doesn't clogged my pores, lessen breakouts and makes my pores look smaller.  It lightly exfoliates my skin without irritation and gentle for everyday usage.

Overall: A gentle Korean traditional herbs for soft, hydratng, smooth skin for any skin type.

Packaging: It comes without a box which is good.  Transparent plastic jar with screwed lid comes with a plastic tweezer for easy hygienic way of taking the cotton pads.

Ingredients&texture: The cotton pads are unbleached so that is the natural colour which is slightly brownish and not pure white.  Both side are the same which is smooth and soft.  For DIY mask, peel cotton pads into two. 

Review: It is a very thoughtful idea so that we can DIY our mask for face to focus on certain ingredients or use it with exfoliating toner to gentle.  It is also gentle, comfortable and provides light exfoliation on the skin.  Using this cotton pads to swipe the skin with a gentle toner is good for a lasting long makeup on the skin.

Overall: A nice unbleached cotton pads that is good for travelling, DIY or before makeup.

REVIEW ON ISNTREE SUMMER REVIEW BUS EDITION

Here is a review on special Isntree Summer Review Bus Edition.

South Korean brand, Isntree combines "island", "natural" and "tree" together for its name and guiding philosophy of being transparent in choice of ingredients using the most safe and purest from nature. Some of their most popular products are Aloe Soothing Gel, Hyaluronic Acid Aqua Gel Cream and Sensitive Balancing Sun Protection Plus SPF50+ PA++++  All products are free from animal-testing.

I have combination acne prone skin and living in South East Asia.

Isntree Chestnut BHA 2% Clear Liquid

On Isntree site it is written no difference in ingredient but according to some (reddit people) there are changes to ingredient

Texture: It is clear watery toner that absorbs well.  There is no added fragrance but it very faint scent which I can't describe (steel) .

Review: I use it with a cotton pad once per day without any other actives.  If you are new to actives then not more than 3times per week. Also use a sunscreen.   It does reduce acne breakouts, calm the skin, keep the skin clear, make skin smooth, clear blackheads and clear white heads.  It is also fungal safe.  

Overall: An effective 2% BHA toner for blackheads and acne prone skin that is fungal acne safe.

Isntree Mugwort Calming Clay Mask

Texture: smooth gray colour with dark green particles in it. It has scent of mugwort mixed with clay.

Review: It is a clay mask that isn't drying after 15minutes of application.  Removing it is easy with rinsing with water.  It does reduce oil and sebum production on my face after just one use.  Using it about 2 times per week does make the skin look calmer, clearer, lessen skin redness and softer skin.  I also breakout less with combination of using the 2% BHA toner as well.   It is a good mask to use before using makeup if one wants makeup to look good and last longer.

Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Aqua Gel Cream

Texture: Soft opaque gel white lotion that absorbs well and dries down without residue.  Almost scentless, very faint scent of plastic that disappeared once dried down.

Review: It is a gel moisturiser that absorbs done to my skin, doesn't have any residue and doesn't pile under makeup.  It does keep my skin hydrated throughout 12hours, doesn't clogged my pores, calm my acne prone skin and doesn't cause acne.  On my drier area around my mouth it is not enough for sure.  It works as a good hydrating moisturiser for oily and combination skin type and during summer.

Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel SPF50++++

Texture: Opaque soft lotion that turned transparent once it dries down.  Almost scentless.

Review: It is made by a famous OEM which produce a lot of other famous Korean skincare brands.  The formulation is pretty stable and tested.  Suncreen goes on well on my skin and protect my skin throughout the day.  It does not have any whitecast no matter the amount applied.  It doesn't irritate or clogged my pores and easily wash off by the end of the day without residue left on my face.

Overall: A great chemical sunscreen without white cast suitable for any skin type.

It has a simple gentle formulation which lightly exfoliate skin with lactic acid.  Although it is mentioned that lactic acid in this formulation is not high enough to exfoliate skin, it can still irritate skin that are exposed to strong actives or those that make this toner 'strong' by treating it as sheet mask.

The hydrating ingredients such as panthenol, glycerin, sodium PCA, urea, rice protein, sorbitol, allantin, vitamin E, lysine keeps the skin from irritation and dryness.

The rest the ingredients are for hydration, emulsifier, texture, pH adjusting and preservatives. 

Texture: It is a watery transparent liquid toner that absorbs very fast.  As for the scent, some people said it smells like new shoes. For me, it smells like how those slightly fermented rice smells like.  It is not the best thing in the world but the scent disappeared once it dries down.

Review: It is not a hydrating toner so don't soak this toner with compressed mask else you can overexfoliate your sensitive skin.  It is a pretty nice light exfoliation toner that does not dry the skin and really good for combination oily skin type.  If you are not using other actives, this toner is a good gentle start.  It doesn't clogged my pores or irritates my skin which is nice.  It does help to make my skin smooth without dryness.  My skin does feel smoother after using it for about 2 weeks.  Using it with cotton pads before make up does make makeup last longer and looks better too.

Overall: It is a nice gentle light exfoliation toner which is fungal safe for acne prone skin.

Review: This toner comes in an elegant white plastic opaque bottle. It contains ginger, licorice, Pinus Radiata bark extract (pine tree), macadamia seed oil. It is a very hydrating toner. The milky opaque liquid is enough to hydrate the skin with just one layer. It does have slight scent of fresh pine tree to it.



713 Vitamin C Deep Hydration Facial Serum
Review: It comes in a dark glass dropper bottle. Watery slightly yellowish liquid absorb onto the skin without any stickiness or residue. The vitamin C use is stable so it doesn’t need to put inside the fridge. It contains ginger, licorice, Pinus Radiata bark extract (pine tree), hyaluronic acid, schisandra chinensis fruit extract )five flavor berry, green tea, centella asiatica and coptis japonica root extract (Japanese Goldthread). The plant extract are chosen for their antioxidant and antimicrobial abilities. There isn’t any strong scent to it.

Review: It comes in a elegant white tube with easy dispensing of product. It contains macadamia seed oil , niacinamide, licorice, shea butter, vitamin E, Pinus Radiata bark extract (pine tree), jojoba seed oil and camellia oil. The ingredients are very moisturising and hydrating for even dry skin. The lotion like goes on smooth and absorbs leaving semi matte look on my skin without stickiness. It does have slight scent of the pine tree.

There are many hydrating ingredients such as Panthenol, Allantoin, Xylitylglucoside, Xylitol, Glyceryl Glucoside, Fructan and Hyaluronic acid

Plant ingredient such as Glycyrrhizate (licorice), Chelidonium Majus Extract are for calming the skin and improve skincare barrier.

Texture: It has a watery texture that absorbs easily without residue.  There isn't any scent.  It has pH 5.5 which is closest pH to healthy skin.

Review: I have been using it for 1 month.   I find that this gentle mild toner, is fungal safe and doesn't break me out.  I tried using wth 7skin method and it does plump my skin up.  It indeed soothe my skin, hydrate it, improve my skin barrier and reduce redness after a month of usage.  Combination with other toner does amplify the hydration of my toner without using moisturiser on days I just feel so hot to do too much layering.

Overall:  B.LAB Matcha Hydrating Facial Toner is a great hydrating, soothing, fungal safe gentle toner for sensitive skin.  It is very budget friendly too.😄

It is Centella Asiatica toner combined with few hyaluronic acid to provide hydration and speed up healing skin.

Methylpropanediol is a synthetic ingredient that acts as solvent which also enhance the absorption of ingredients, has hydrating properties and as replacement for other glycols (propylene or butylene glycol).

Portulaca oleracea and  Fig fruit extract contains antioxidants that fight free radicals that contribute to aging.

Hydrogenated lecithin contributes to the texture of cosmetic formulations and preventing water loss from the skin.


Gluconolactone is an acid, PHA, poly-hydroxy acids used in skincare formulations to help increase skin cell turnover and improve the appearance of aging skin. It works in a similar way to AHAs and BHAs but is better for sensitive skin types

Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid is hyaluronic acid that has been broken down into elements small enough to penetrate the skin which is for oily or combination skin.

Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate which has stronger ability to retain moisture and keep skin hydrated for a long time.

1,2-hexanediol is a synthetic preservative and moisture-binding humectant.

Hydroxyacetophenone is a synthetic antioxidant, a phenolic antioxidant able to neutralise several different types of free radicals. It is also for boosting the preservation system in cosmetics.

Texture: It doesn't has any scent to it.  The clear watery liquid aborbs into skin very fast and doesn't leave any residue.

Review: It is a gentle light exfoliating toner that is not harsh and for extra hydration on the skin.  It does contain PHA so it is not suitable for layering many layers.  It does lighty exfoliate my skin but it does take time to see the results.  I like it for the gentle exfoliation.   Do apply moisturiser after that to retain moisture on the skin.

Overall: A very gentle centella asiatica, PHA  exfoliating toner that is gentle to even dry skin type.
