REVIEW ON NEUTROGENA DEEP HYDRATING MASK

I have been a fan of Neutrogena mask because of their hydrating purposes.  The first time I use it was because my skin was peeling because of skin dryness and so I bought this without thinking much.  Turns out it hydrates my skin and the peeling disappeared.  Fast forward 10 years and I got this from Neutrogena Malaysia.

Direction: Use after cleansing. Open pack, take out the mask and unfold. Press lightly with fingertips to set in place over face. Relax for 15 minutes and remove mask. Massage any remaining fluid into skin. Discard mask after use.

The mask sheet is not too thin and the shape is just nice for my face.  It is not too huge until I have to cut it.  The essence doesn’t drip too and applying it to my face is just a cooling treat. It does temporary brighten my face.  It doesn’t have any fragrance and it is alcohol free so that are good points.  Sorry forget to take the after face.  I was too tired and forget about it after removing it. XD  

It a good weekly treat to hydrate the skin =).

SKINCARE TIPS: HOW TO USE AMPOULE, ESSENCE AND SERUM

I am back with another skincare tips.  This time it is tips on how to use ampoule, essence and serum.

1. Normally, I will apply the ampoule, essence and serum on the back on the hands and then apply it with the finger tips.

2. It is best not to heat those ampoule, essence or serum with your palm or else all the benefits will be gone. Only use the ampoule, essence or serum on your palm if they are in oil form.

3. Besides, apply ampoule, essence and serum on your skin when it is still moist and not when it is too dry as it will be hard for the ingredients to penetrate inside.

4. Keep your ampoule, essence and serum on a dry and dark places to maximize their efficiency.

5.  It is good to apply serum after masking and then moisturiser to seal in the goodness of the mask.

6.  Ampoule, essence and serum are not to replace the moisturiser.

7.  Normally, we don't apply all ampoule, essence and serum all in one shot.  I am not a fan of 'too much' layering so apply one at a time.  If you really want too, then maybe apply them on alternate days.

8. Lastly, a few drops of ampoule, essence or serum is already enough for your application.  So, these products might be expensive but it can last longer than your cleanser or toner.

Even the deluxe size products are just so cute and pretty!  It is just like mini size of the work of art!

The mineral treatment essence is made from fermented water but there is no fishy smell.  It smell something like mineral water ( almost no smell at all).  The skin feels really hydrated and soft after using it and followed up with the fresh water gel.

The fresh water gel has a very light rose smell to it. The texture is so light, soft and has a cooling feeling.  I like that it is also soothing.  The gel texture is really nice and absorbs into the skin fast leaving no trace.

CREMORLAB Sun protection

 The Sun protection is actually the sunscreen and it is good that it has high SPF and the texture is sure light and hydrating.  Those who find sunscreen drying could try this as it is hydrating to the skin and it does not leave any white cast on the face which I like.  The sun protection literary turned transparent and it leaves a very subtle sheen.

CC cream is a In-thing now after BB cream since it helps to moisturise the skin and CC cream contains more moisture than BB cream.  Don't be shocked with the white cream and there is a capsule where it will turn into your skin colour after applying.  For a dewy skin, try their CC cream which has light coverage.  It will brighten and leaves a dewy look.  Both the CC cream and sun protection has a nice smell of powdery flowers.

Overall, I think the treatment essence and fresh water gel are worth to get considering that it is very affordable and could rival some high end brands.  If you love Korean cosmetics products, their Cremor treatment essence is a must to try.

SKINCARE TIPS:DO I NEED SERUM OR ESSENCE?

I wrote about the differences between skincare products Here and thank you every readers who love that post.  I really appreciate your support and thank you once again for all your lovely comments.

So, someone asked me this question about "whether she needs serum or essence" so I think why not I write a post about it.

Normally, even a skincare junkies like me would normally just use one whether it is serum or essence  at one time as I am not a person who loves to layer 10 products on my face.  Well, it is because my skin can't handle too many products with active ingredients in it.  I have sensitive skin so it is best not to aggravate it with too many skincare products.  Another reason is because I am plain lazy and thrifty.  I am trying the best to get best out of all the products and to keep track so I know which product can cause me allergic.

Okay so back to the question whether should one use serum or essence alone or use both at the same time.  I think I will break down the question into few parts.  I hope that it will answer or help you in your decision in buying skincare products.

The question here is whether you need to add serum or essence in your skincare regime.  You will still need the cleanser and moisturiser so don't take out of your skincare regime =)






Get the Serum
Serum is generally more expensive than essence but again it depends on your preference.
Serum has many varieties ranging from hydrating, anti acne/trouble skin, brightening and popular ones would be the anti-ageing type such as Vitamin C or retinol. They comes with heavier texture such as oil or gel but serum penetrate faster as the base is different from essence.

I am not sure about others but most of my friend above 25 years old are mostly incorporating/adding serum into their regime.  This include the ones that went to see the dermatologist as most anti-ageing products are in form of serum.

I have sum up the reasons here:
1.Willing to spend more money
2.Your skin can handle serum with higher concentration of ingredients
3.You prefer dermatologist advices-derm will normally recommend serum than essence
4.You want fast results (it won't be as fast as Botox, fillers and other cosmetics procedure though)

Normally, serum is for night as the skin can absorb the ingredients better.


Get the Essence
Essence is generally cheaper than serum so the concentration is also not so high.  You will need to be patient to see result from using essence.  It will take longer to see result in essence than in serum.

However, do not think that it doesn't work as it is not the same as moisturiser.  Generally, people who just start with skincare products or have never use serum before would be recommended to use essence.  I think generally someone in between 16-25 would use essence instead of serum in their daily regime.

There are many type of essence (brightening, anti aging, acne/skin trouble&hydrating) available in the market and also the texture range from watery to oil type so do not be shocked if the essence is in form of oil.  From my experience oil based essence works faster than water type.

I have sum up the reasons here:
1. Essence is cheaper than serum
2. New to skincare products&never use serum before
3. Water type essence could be use as essence for mask.

4. Your skin can't handle serum

5. You prefer 'slow and steady' kind of results


Can I use serum and essence at the same time?

As far as I know, most people WOULD NOT use essence or serum at the same time because both contains active ingredients and it might cause allergic to your skin.  You could still ignore my advise and try at our own risk.

We normally use essence in the morning while serum at night.  That is the common way of using skincare products.  Besides that, why use essence + serum when you can just use one product and save time?

Unless you are using the essence as mask which is a different story altogether, I would not recommend to use serum and essence at the same time.  Another thing is to make sure that your essence and serum is from the same brand and same type(anti-ageing) if you do plan to do layering. Make sure that the texture of the serum and essence are different from each other (oil essence and oil serum doesn't work together).



Do I prefer serum or essence?
I think both has its good points.  I use essence during the Day and serum at Night.  That is why it takes time for me to finish the products.  One only need a few drops of essence and also serum so they are really worth the money as they can last quite long.

Well, at my age, there is no choice but to start using serum and essence to actually help my skin condition.  After all, I am worry of looking older than my age and my skin is not easy to take care off.


Choose the serum and essence according to your skin condition and skin types.  I always stresses how important it is to know your skin types because it really helps to choose products for your skin condition.




Again, I am not a dermatologist, medical doctor or professional chemist and my opinions here are based on my past experience as a skincare products junkies.  I am just sharing my opinion here and please do not shoot me with a rifle if there is any changes to the world of skincare products in the future. Kahina Facial Cleanser- This is the cleanser that is recommended for acne prone skin as it calms the redness on the skin and does not cause irritation. I personally tried it and I think it really does make my skin smooth without feeling tight at all. It contains willowbark and papaya extracts that exfoliate and eliminate toxic from the skin. I think it is super great because acne prone skin is usually very sensitive to friction but it also need exfoliation to remove at those clogged up pores.  Kahina Toning Mist: This mist sure smell subtle and lovely. The mist contains aloe barbadensis and Morrocan desert rose that really tone up my skin with it. I can act as a light day moisturiser especially in weather that is super hot and I just love the smell of the mist very much. I find that it absorb fast into the skin too.

Kahina Brightening Serum: This is another wonder product from Kahina, this serum smells subtle and pleasant. SKINCARE TIPS: HOW TO CHOOSE SKINCARE PRODUCTS FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN

It has been sometimes since I write about skincare tips and here I am back with another post on how to choose product for acne prone skin.

I am a skincare junkie and yes I love skincare products more than makeup =). I am not good in makeup, lazy and I think having a good skin is better than having the best concealer in the world.

Whenever I am in Kuala Lumpur, I would sure visit Sephora but now we can also order the products online through Zalora website . \ ^ v ^ /  How amazing is that???  My friends love Sephora eyeliner because they are cheap and it is really nice considering the price.  Oh, let go back to the skincare tips =)  .

1. First of all, know your skin type. It might be dry with acne , oily with acne or combination with acne. Do not assume that everyone has the same skin type.

2. Check your age. Acne products that works for adult is not the same as the acne products for teenagers as the skin built is not the same. Look for brands that cater to certain age.

3. Use a good simple cleanser for your skin. The Koreans follow the double cleaning method which is use oil cleanser first follow by the foam cleanser. Or you could use cleansing water which is also very popular for oily skin.  Treat your skin like a baby.

4. Then after lotion/toner, applied the essence or moisturizer.

5. Apply eye cream to reduce the stress around the eyes and prolong your youth.

6. Do pore cleansing mask and then sheet mask to reduce the flare up. Most Korean do “A sheet mask A day” and it does help but since I don’t have deep pockets, I can’t do that every day. Choose the mask for acne/sensitive/trouble/blemishes and ingredients such as green tea, honey and hydrating ones.

I do like this serum becausel it doesn't contain ingredients that cause sensitivity and harmful to our skin =)  .  There is some sort of fruity smell that disappear after 10minutes.  I prefer using serum to moisturise my skin since serum is generally lighter than lotion, cream or emulsion.  They get absorb into the skin faster and doesn't leave a greasy feeling after that.  It doesn't clog the pores too since it the ingredients are mostly plant based and beneficial for the skin. Tocopheryl Acetate is actually Vitamin E that can moisturise your skin and heal it at the same time =).  That is why it is good for anti-aging too.  I sure do feel the difference with this moisturising serum in long run =)

My skin is sure very hydrated when using this minus those greasy feeling after that.  Oh, it is really useful to use a moisturising serum if you are using a lot of products for acne since acne products are generally drying.  The skin can heal faster when it is moist. You certainly don't need to pile your skin with too many moisturising products. I generally use RM0.10cent for my whole face since I don't need too much for my type of skin.

Overall, moisturising serum is worth investing in if you do not like using heavy moisturiser in a country like Malaysia where everyday is either rain or scorching hot.  The serum makes my skin silky soft and smooth to the touch. =).

I like the packaging very much.  It is looking so much like cosmeceutical products.  The black glass bottle is to protect the active ingredients from getting destroy from the sunlight! There is the dropper to control the amount of essence use and for hygienic purposes.

Mandelic acid is one type of the chemical light peel for skin =)  .  It is just like those salicylic peel, enzyme peel and glycolic peel on skin.  So, it is really mild on skin but one can still obvious effect on the skin.

Since it is in form of essence, it work and it wouldn't be too strong until our skin couldn't take it.  The essence smells flowery and does not smell anything acidic at all.  The smell disappear once the essence get absorb into the skin.  I love the smell very much.  Absorbtion rate is really fast

DO's and DON'T
1.  The products is actually very effective on its own so DO NOT use any AHA (alpha hydroxy) , BHA (salicylic)or retinol products when you are using Shills Acid skin renew essence.
2.  Please follow the instruction properly.  Use a hydrating serum or hydrating moisturiser.  NO pore minimizing, oil control moisturiser at NIGHT with this Shills mandelic acid!  Mist is NOT ENOUGH.
3.  NO SCRUB on you face.
4.  USE the Shills mandelic acid only at night.  ONE or TWO drops for an area. (cheeks, forehead, nose+chin).  DON'T USE TOO MUCH.
5.  During day, make sure you wear sunscreen or block and best to use some hydrating products if your skin feels dry.

This is an essence but it is in form of oil.  The oil is colourless and will just soak into the skin like water.  That is why it is called essence.  Seriously, I don't even need to massage the essence or anything.  It just disappear into thin air immediately leaving no trace at all.  Seriously, no even a hint of oil on the skin!  So, don't let the essence on your palm for more than 2seconds or else you would need to use more.  I use about one drop for one area so 3-5 drop is enough for the whole face.  I think one bottle could last me 3 months.

When I am using this Shill Mandelic Acid Skin Renew Essence, I don't even have bumps on my face!  It prevent the skin from having those bumps for even appearing which is super amazingly considering that it is just a drugstore product!

The results?  My skin is super super smooth after few days of usage.  On the first day, my acne is already disappearing and healing.  The skin texture is also turning to feel smooth.  This is one of the product that I will put in my list for acne prone skin that is a SURE MUST TRY product.  Just remember to really follow the instruction and the "Do and Don't"  .

Can you believe the results?  Redness was gone immediately on the second day and the acnes shrunk by day four.  I think this is one product that many had overlook and it sure deserve more love =) .  As for the price, I think it is worth and cheaper since one can use it for 3months and IT WORKS!  What else can you ask for it?  Oh, gosh.  I keep saying how amazing it is but it really does works.  YES, I will buy this again =).
