Hi beautiful,
Acne is a skin condition that has been plaguing many of us. While there isn’t really a one shot vaccine that you can use to just stop acne in its track there are acne treatment available. You can find most of these treatments except for tretinoin and acutance in drugstore or pharmancies.
Here are 10 types of acne treatment for acne prone skin.
1.Retinoid
2. Azelaic acid
-Neem comes in either oil and the powdered form. It is not for pregnant mothers. The oil is from the seed stink&it is only for topical application. The powder comes from leaves which I mix with toner and applied onto my skin. It doesn't burn but it won't look or smell pretty at night. The capsules containing powder can also be digested as replacement for birth control pills. Men can also take it. The real fresh neem taste really bitter though if you can find it in your country.
-Centella asiatica is one of my favourite ingredients since it is really gentle and use as medicine to speed up healing. It is called as gotu kola, cica or tiger grass. If you have the fresh drink, drinking it everyday makes you have beautiful clear skin. The drink is called Rau Mau in Vietnamese.
I tried drinking it without sugar and it is really bitter so I just like it just on my skin. It helps to heal and reduce inflammation on your skin.
Mugwort is antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. It is gentle and helps to speed healing. It does have a strong scent if you plan to eat it.

1.Retinoid
This is the strong stuff that is prescription in many countries.
The retinoids are forms
that are related to vitamin A. It is use
in medicine since it regulates skin cell growth.
Retinol, vitamin A ester, Tretinoin, Tazorac, Adapalene are related to retinoid class.
Adapalene and retinol are available as drugstore skincare products. Use only a pea size at night and use a sunscreen.
Not scientific proven that it is safe for pregnant mothers or breastfeeding mothers.
A study by U.S. government scientist (2012) suggests that retinyl palmitate may speed the development of skin tumors and lesions when applied in the presence of sunlight.

Azelaic acid is to calm inflammation and speed up skin turnover minus the pain of retinoid. I haven't use the western strong version of it. The one I am using is the Korean skincare products (Alivelab centella powder) which has centella asiatica in it as well. Gentle and safe for pregnant mothers. It is one of the acne treatment that is available but not much is talk about but it is a good acne treatment.
3. BHA (beta hydroxyl)
The common form is Salicylic Acid. Other forms- betaine salicylate
or winter leaf extract are pretty weak. It is fat soluble. Recommended for deeper penetration( blackheads and pores problems). BHA has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial
properties.
There are many products with BHA in them or mix in drugstore. The strongest BHA is 2% and it is recommend
to not use more than once a day. Also not recommended for those allergic to aspirin.
4. AHA (alpha hydroxy acid)
AHAs are water-soluble acids. Common AHAs are glycolic,
lactic, malic, tartaric, citric and mandelic. Ahas helps with skin texture by removing the
outer layer of skin so that newer skin will take the place. It helps with red pigmentation of acne scars
and even out the skin. I do use mandelic
acid 5% to 10% for everyday usage. Glycolic
is very much stronger than mandelic acid but it does not mean the stronger the
better.
5. PHA (gluconolactone)
PHA is a polyhydroxy acid. It is a hydrating, gentle exfoliating ingredient which can
also protecting skin from some of the damaging effects of UV radiation. It has
the benefits of AHA but being very gentle than most exfoliating acid. Then again I haven’t use much to talk about
this but there are some people that broke out from PHA.
6. Sulphur
An ingredient used since ancient time to
treat skin condition. Sulfur presents in
all living things. Sulfur has antibacterial
effects against the bacteria that cause acne. It is also antifungal so it is
also use for malassezia folliculitis or pityrosporum folliculitis. It helps treat skin conditions such
as seborrhea dermatitis and acne. It
does smell bad to some people.

7. Benzoyl Peroxide
Benzoyl Peroxide is a drying agent to treat
mild to moderate acne. It is usually use
with other acne treatment such as topical antibiotic to avoid antibiotic resistant. On skin, benzoyl
peroxide works by reducing the amount of acne-causing bacteria
and by causing the skin to dry. Normally applied on where the acne spots are.
It is not for sensitive and dry skin type. The strength of dryness depends on the percentage
which are 2.5% , 5% and 10% .
I can’t use it though since each time I tried to introduce it,
my face just go red and itch.
8. Topical Antibiotic
Topical antibiotic helps to reduce inflammation and decrease the amount of blocked pores.
Common antibiotic are erythromycin and clindamycin. These are available as solutions, lotions, gels, and saturated pads. It is not recommended to use it alone for a prolong period of time since it can cause resistance. Topical antibiotic is usually used together with benzoyl peroxide to reduce the chance of resistance.

9. Birth Control
If you are female with hormonal acne. Dermatologist can suggest you birth control that contain estrogen and progesterone to regulate hormone and prevent acne. It takes about from few weeks to 2 to 3 months for visible improvement. However, once you are not on it, your acne will come back for sure.

10. Natural
Natural does not mean it is going to be gentle and does not mean that it is 100% safe for everyone.
Here are some common ones for treating acne are tea tree, neem, centella asiatica and mugwort.
-Tea tree oil is the most common one for treating acne. If you are using the oil, please use only a drop and buffer it or mix it with your moisturiser. Applying the oil straight to your skin is going to cause your skin to burn.Natural does not mean it is going to be gentle and does not mean that it is 100% safe for everyone.
