Origins

The story of Trollbeads began in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1976, when Soren “Silversmith” Nielsen created the first Trollbead, Faces. The sterling silver bead, faces, is named for the no less than 6 faces that decorate it. Soren “Silversmith” Nielsen sold the Faces Bead from his father Svend Nielsen’s jewelry shop in Central Copenhagen. The trending fashion at the time of Trollbeads creation was to wear a single silver bead on a leather cord necklace. Instead of hanging the bead from an eyelet, Nielsen placed an opening through the center of the bead. Later his sister, Lise Aagaard, began to place the beads on silver bracelets. 

Lise Aagaard, the founder of Trollbeads, went on to open her own jewelry store. One day a customer asked to place more than one bead on her bracelet. The storekeeper was surprised but added another bead to the customer’s bracelet. This is how the bead-on-bracelet jewelry concept was born. 

From the suggestion of one customer, the Trollbeads brand and adventure were created. In cooperation with customers and with their wishes in mind, the collection grew. Today Trollbeads can be found in over 400 cities worldwide.

Trollbeads was the originator "bead on bracelet" concept that was founded in 1976,  in Copenhagen, Denmark when Soren and Lise Aagaard, who are brother and sister string a leather cord through a silver bead instead of hanging it from an eyelet.

Trollbeads refers to the first beads which resembled troll faces and were designed by Søren Nielsen in 1976.

Materials in Jewelleries

Pandora jewelry sterling silver (92.5% silver&7.5% other metals (mainly copper to improve durability)), 14k gold, black rhodium plating on select sterling silver and Rose metal blend (copper&silver, encased  rose gold plating).  Pandora also use man-made stones, natural gemstones, pearls, glass and leather.

Trollbeads  silver beads are made using the ‘cire perdu’ (lost wax) method, 3000 years old silver bead technique which allows for fine details to be reproduced from wax to precious metals. Trollbeads also offer to create beads in gold upon request.  Gold beads are made from 18k gold, gold chains are from 14k gold.  They also use freshwater pearls and gemstones, glass beads made from Italian glass (hand made from red-hot glass in the open flame).
