KOREAN FOOD COOKING INGREDIENTS

Hi beautiful,

Korean food has become really popular and even my mother are interested in Korean cooking ingredients.  Back when Kdrama- "Autumn in my Heart and Winter Sonata" became really popular, we only knew about Korean Ramyeon which mom still really likes.

Here are some of the Korean cooking ingredients that you will come across to cook Korean dishes.

Haechandle Korean soybean Paste (classic)
Haechandle  Gochuchang Hot Pepper Paste (Korean rice)

Imagine Korea Apron

Mr.Korea Vermicelli Noodle
It is for cooking Japchae, sweet potato starch noodles stir fried with vegetables and meat.  One of Korea's best-loved dishes
This big picket is enough to cook a lot actually so don't put it all in one time cooking.

Haechandle Korean soybean Paste (classic)
Bean paste that use as ingredient for stew, stew and some sauce.  It is use for the Doenjang Jjigae (Korean Soybean Stew) and other Jigae.  It doesn't taste the same as the Chinese soya beans.

Haechandle  Gochuchang Hot Pepper Paste (Korean rice)
It is a very important hot pepper paste in Korean cuisine.  It has slightly spicy sweet taste that is very unique.  Use it in bibimbap and also stew.

Bidan Red Pepper Powder
Red pepper powder is Gochugaru is one of the most important Korean ingredients. It is used to make gochujang (Korean chili paste), in delicious kimchi, for many korean stews (jjigae) and spicy Korean dishes.  This Bidan red pepper powder is not that spicy so it is suitable for me.  I really like the taste and I also use it in curry.

CJ Beksul sesame oil
This is a wonderful pure sesame oil.  I really love this bottle of sesame oil that is good for cooking Korean side dishes, rice dishes, Korean BBQ and in dipping sauce too. It has nutty aroma and savoury flavor  It makes food very delicious.

CJ Beksul pancake mix for cooking
CJ Beksul pancake mix is a must try pancake mix for making Korean pancake.  It is so easy to make even if you are a total beginner like me.  Even my picky family members enjoy this delicious pancake and ate it all up in one go. *sob sob, I got only one piece since they like it too much*

Review: Overall, I really like the CJ Beksul sesame oil and CJ Beksul pancake mix for cooking which is really good for Korean food.

Hi beautiful people,

If you like Korean culture such as Kpop, K drama, Korean food do join the community at Moija K friends where you can get involved with many activities there.

It is called MOIJA K-friends which means "let's all get together" in Korean language.

There are various activities posted to earn "Chingu"every month. Chingu are points that you can use to exchange into many Korean goods later in the Moija Market.

Activities are related to Korea and many of them are actually easy.  For examples, watch online Christmas Party with Pentagon, leaving comments at youtube videos, mimic the K drama that you like, simple Kpop dance, Korean calligraphy, spread word about Moija market, share your anything you love about Korea, join Hangeul handwriting and many more.

Here are the items I got from Moija Market Season 2 2022.

Moija market which will open twice a year.  In 2022 it was in August and in November.
As for the items and the amount of points needed to redeem the products depends on  K-friends team.  Each Moija market is different.

In Season 1, there were random box, Kpop albums, Korean food, Korean chopsticks, K beauty (Korean skincare, moisturiser& handcream ), Blackpink phone case, kingdom friends random box, Staying in Hanok experience etc

In Season 2, there were Korean food (Paldo ramyeon, health, ginseng, rice punch ), Hanbok ( traditional bag, clothes, Muffler, accessories ), pasport with norigae, K beauty (handcreams, facemask, essence, moisturiser, toner ), BTS mouthwash .

Both season has minimum points items such as K random box&handcream in Season 1 and Norigae (traditional Korean accessories)  but they get sold out fast. Items for Season 2 need more points than in Season 1 because many of the items are actually expensive especially the Hanbok and ginseng so thus it requires more points to redeem.

Overall, I was happy that I was able to get enough Chingu points to redeem items from the Moija market Season 2.  My family loves the Paldo ramyeon kimchi noodles which they ate it all up because it wasn't spicy.

FOOD REVIEW ON KEDAI KOPI AH WAH TELUK INTAN, PERAK

Hi foodies,

Here is a shop where locals go for many years.  Here is breakfast at Kedai Kopi Ah Wah, Teluk Intan, Perak, Malaysia

Mee Rebus

Today we are going to a local shop where the Chinese locals in Teluk Intan frequent.  It is only available in Teluk Intan for their unique Mee Rebus.  It is actually located in older part of the city.  Dependings on which road you are taking, there are many "Rumah Papan" and "Rumah Kayu" where the very rich in those 70s live.  Some were demolished and some are still standing strong.

As this is Teluk Intan, you will need to drive here.  There are two primary schools nearby.  There is no parking charges so you can eat without worrying about getting fine.  This shop is at the corner lot so it is not hard to find.   People usually come for breakfast.  By 1pm there won't be many people. Close at 3pm.

Try their most famous Mee Rebus or they called it Indian Mee(Hokkien).

It comes with orange coloured sauce, tofu, egg, lime that you need to squeeze, bean sprout (I usually opt it out) and most important the crunchy fried shrimps pieces.

If you have allergies to shrimps, then I guess you have to try some other noodles which are really good too.
Price is affordable but must have increased by the time this video came out.

RM2 for cup of coffee
RM6 for a plate of noodles

REVIEW ON POH LOONG RESTAURANT TELUK INTAN, PERAK

Hi beautiful,

Here is one of the popular Chinese restaurants in Teluk Intan.   Poh Loong Restaurant Teluk Intan, Perak, Malaysia.
It is not Halal.
Many people will bring friends for dinner at this restaurant or have Wedding reception dinner here.

I actually went to this restaurant at the end of 2021 so I am sure the price of the food I wrote here has increased by now.  I ordered everything small.

Review:
As this is Teluk Intan, it is best to drive around as nothing is reachable by public transport.  It is very hard to even get Grab in Teluk Intan.

There are places for parking but try to arrive around 8 to 7pm as it can be hard to get parking after 7.30pm.

There are air conditioning areas and non air conditioner which are under fans.  Tables are mostly round since most people bring their families or come in big crowd.  Service is fast but if there are many people one probably have to wait longer for their food (about 20min).

Food is alright for picky eaters like my families.  If you are not that picky then this is going to pretty good.  Food presentation is really good though.  Price are also pretty affordable considering most of what is on the menu are for wedding or for special occassion.

Buttered Pork Ribs- It is cooked well, tender meat and comes with some lettuce.
Beancurd with Pumpkin Sauce-  beancurd is soft and comes with buttery pumpkin sauce.
Signature Braised pork- It is soft, tender and comes with some sauce.  However, it is not the traditional braised pork that I had eaten in some fancy restaurant.

Review: Located in front of Chong Hwa school, it is hard to find parking.  I found this shop by looking at some luxury cars stopping to buy noodles.  It has simple comfortable interior shop.  The shop is small but enough for a few tables to sit and have meals over there.  Service is top notch fast and friendly.  I didn't know that utensil is at the counter but they guide me to it.  Novice of self service utensils 😂

The speciality about this Ming Hiong shop is their kolo noodles.  It comes with fried wonton and delicious handmade pork ball.  Their coffee is pretty good too.  The noodles is RM6 and coffee is RM1.50-RM2 (sorry can't remember the exact price).  I also like that it comes in ceramic bowls.

I went back a few times on different time and their quality control is good since it tastes equally good each time.
