REVIEW ON NADEJE MILLE CREPE THE ORIGINAL MILLE CREPE

People say “curiosity kills the cat”. It doesn’t kill anyone except killing my expectation. How curious? I was curious enough to think about the mille crepe for three days and two nights. I also keep on bugging my friend to no end for it. Partly also because someone asked me to try it out knowing that I am going there.  This is part of the food trip in Melaka I did in late December.

Yes, I have to queue up and I hate queuing up for anything at all. I have to keep on telling myself to be patient for this famous cake. We got seated first because there were only two of us. So, if you are going out there in a group, chance is you are going to wait longer. The bigger your group, the longer you might need to wait.

Let face it, bigger groups tend to hand out really long compare to two people who are just there for dessert and nothing else.

We ordered the orange chocolate and green tea. Both are non alcohol. There are alcoholic mille crepes if you want but well, I was more interested in trying the green tea mille crepe.

I probably have Milky way High of an expectation for the mille crepes. I was not blown away to Pluto when I ate them. The green tea cake is not soft enough and it is too creamy. The red beans is too small for me to be able to feel the taste and texture of how red beans should be.

Orange chocolates taste better. There is mixture of chocolates and oranges. However, the chocolates could be more as I can taste more heavy creamy than the chocolates.

I think my experience was not really a good one partially because I was seated next to a family with a kid that is noisy enough for me to think twice of coming back. Parents just let the child run around and this disturb people next to them. I just can’t wait to get out of the shop because I like to enjoy my food in a peaceful manner, not with disturbance.

Overall, it is not exceptional enough for me to go again. It is a hip place for the young adult and youngster. I rather go back to the Jonker Street for the Melaka coffee or other state coffee.

You can get a stamp with every Rm15 spent in a single receipt. Collect 10 and you can get a slice of cake.

RM12.60 per slice (including 6% GST- RM0.725)

FOOD IN JONKER STREET, MELAKA , RESTORAN NYONYA SUAN TRADITIONAL CUISINE, FIRST&ONLY CALANTHE ART CAFE MALAYSIA 13 STATES COFFEE

Hi readers,

I think once in a while, you are interested to see something else than beauty and skincare.

The reason I don’t talk about my trip because most of the time, I forgot to take photos. XP

I told you before I am a glutton and when I remembered to take photos; I already gobbled them up. I can’t show you ugly looking half eaten food!

I figured that you might be interested in my recent trip to Malacca if you are coming to Malaysia somewhere in the future. What I am going to say is probably different from what others said so take it with bags of salt XP. After all, my taste buds are probably different from others because I am use to spices and flavorful food.

Malaysian’s food has stronger flavor compared to Taiwanese food and some people might not like it.

So what is good to eat in Malacca? That was my first question to her when I asked her what is good to eat there. I know because I am a glutton.

So I quote her answers “Her mum’s cooking is the best”. She was at lost for answers to my question because of course I expect something that will blow my mind away and she knew how high my expectation for food is. I do prefer home cook food actually.

You can actually find or Google up those common places for Top ten foods to eat in Malacca so I should not dwell into it.

I did not go for the famous satay celup because you need at least 3 people to eat them. It opens only at night. I did not go for ice cream cendol made with coconut water too. The main reason is because I hate waiting in line for food. Besides, there are tons of reviews for those so I don’t think I want to queue up outside the hot weather for 1 hour to just add into those review.

Better go somewhere else for food.

 RESTORAN NYONYA SUAN

This time I went to a friend’s place so she brought me to this Nyonya restaurant. There is no pork and they serve traditional cuisine. Nyonya cuisine is actually a blend of chinese and malays cuisine.  The speciality lies that is spicy so for those coming to Melaka, Nyonya cuisine is a must try. XP

Yeah, it is sour.LOL

ermm, no idea how this taste like.  Malaysian don't double dip or drink from the same straw unless you are couple or something XP . Besides, I already have my drink.

This dish is for those can eat the traditional 'ulam'-raw herbal vegetables.  The toilet will stink so lucky we are outside that day. I love the fresh prawn.  It is not spicy in my opinion but to those who doesn't eat chillies this is going to burn your tongue.

Itik means duck.  So, it is a duck soup.  It is sourish in clear broth. The meat is pretty soft XP.  I can't help to drink few bowl of this because I like sourish soup.=)

This is a local cuisine and I am surprise with the crunchy 'water spinach'.  Malaysian love their sambal belacan(dried up salted shrimps) . It is not spicy to me but if you have very low tolerance for chilies, don't order this.

Overall, it was a satisfying meal.  I think it is not over RM50 for all these so it is cheap for something as good as this. My friend was actually very full as the portion was actually big.  Even if you eat a lot like me you will find it a lot.  Overall, not bad and I will patron this restaurant again =) .  This is actually near Mahkota parade.

Here is the most popular chicken rice ball which I did not go into. Ate it long ago and not interested in eating it anymore. This is less delicious. It is chicken with rice made into balls.

The reason I passed by this is because we are going to the popular café for coffee. I am a tea and coffee person XP .

So here we are. Sorry that you have to keep seeing people back. The people here just want to be in my photo. I have waited under the hot scorching sun but they are just so ignorant or probably wanting to photo bomb everything.

By the way, if you notice, Malaysian wears slippers everywhere because it is so hot. Most of the time, we will go out bare face even if they have bad skin and no one will bat an eye. However, if you do put something like a patch on your face, everyone will look at you! LOL

It is 35 celsius room temperature and outside it is 45 celsius so bring something breathable and light! Just wear t-shirts and pants will do. You can wear sleeveless and short pants too. Just no bikini.

Calanthe Art Café named all the coffee with the name of 13 states in Malaysia. Mine one is Melaka and my friends one is Perak.(hers is not in photo) They look the same but taste different.

We have to order cold one as I was sweating so much from the scorching hot sun outside.

It was around Rm12 per cup of coffee. I can’t remember the price.

The cendol from the stall next to the river and opposite the red house. My friend said the river used to stink so badly in the past. Not sure how much those cendol cost because it was my friend's treat. XP
It is nice to have a bowl of cold cendol on a scorching hot day.  It is hard to find seat here and we had to share the table with others.  One tiny table with five adults so one might have to quickly finish your cendol since we might not be comfortable enough to talk with others.  People though we are Singaporeans because well, I look Chinese but speaks English.  Locals speak Mandarin.

 San Shu Gong,JONKER STREET
 San Shu Gong

Before you got out from Jonker Street, remember to stop at a corner shop named San Shu Gong for souvenir. Their coconut cookies and candies are great. I also bought some herbal 'Ba Kut teh' herbs which is very famous and only available in Malaysia. XP Sorry I really forgot to take a photo of the shop.  The thought went out of my mind because it was too hot and we just want to go somewhere cold.

I am thankful of my friend for being such a kind host for bringing me around.  She had to follow me eating the whole day too. Pity her because I hate to be outside under the scorching sun.  Ermm, no photo of me because I look like an idiot and my friend dislike her photos up here XP  .  Well, looking at food photos are way better than looking at me right?  I actually gained like 4.37 kg when I weight myself at my friend's place!  OMG!

I think this is a very long post about food in Malacca. I hope that you will like it.  Let me know if you have any questions about Malacca or other things =) .

I will be writing another post about the things to see in Malacca so let me know if you are interested in that =) .

JAPANESE GREEN TEA KIT KAT

Hi foodies,

When there is no one to cheer you up, you cheer yourself up!

One of the MUST get when you are in Japan is their Kit Kat. There are as many as 200 types of Nestle Kit Kat flavors. From dark chocolates, strawberry cheese cake, tofu, miso, wasabi , soya sauce and even the cake flavor which you have to heat up. Don’t get the wasabi unless you are up for a challenge. XD

It is a great souvenir since you can't get it from other countries.

So, basically there was only that usual milk chocolate Kit Kat until I got this green tea kit kat. Of course I was really curious about it even if it is more expensive than the normal ones. The packaging is the same as the one from Japan just that it has other languages on it. At least we can read it!

JAPANESE GREEN TEA KIT KAT
JAPANESE GREEN TEA KIT KAT

JAPANESE GREEN TEA KIT KAT
JAPANESE GREEN TEA KIT KAT

It has mild green tea taste. It is sweet to me but everyone threshold of sweetness is different.  Anyhow, if you care about your waist line, then don’t eat more than one mini bar per day.  Treat it as some sort of 'treats' that you can have once in a while.   It is good to share it with another person. It is nice and if you love green tea, this will be probably one of the flavors that you should get when you are in Japan. XP Better than those ‘cute looking banana cake’ which does not taste good to me.

One serving contains:
7.6g sugar
1.1g protein
5.6 fat
16mg sodium
9.7g cabohydrate

So, it is not advisable to eat more than 1 mini bar per day because you can easily go over your daily intake of 60g of sugar daily.  Besides, eating too much process food with high sugar content causes diabetes in long run,  you will also have bad skin(acne) and pot belly appearing.  After all, sugar is Number 1 killer for skin.

I think by the time I wrote this, other Asian countries probably already have this in their stores. Also, I have been thinking about it the whole day and by the time I came home, tired and unhappy, I was made even angrier because someone ate all the green tea Kit Kat I have been thinking all day. T_T

REVIEW ON THE FACE SHOP REAL NATURE RICE MASK

Sheet masks are part of beauty routine in Asian and now it has also becomes favourited by many skincare junkies for the calming, faster visible results properties and not to mention handy to carry during travel.  It is recommended to use a face mask to calm the face during the flight =).

So, here is my review on the rice sheet masks.

THE FACE SHOP REAL NATURE RICE MASK
THE FACE SHOP REAL NATURE RICE MASK

THE FACE SHOP REAL NATURE RICE MASK
THE FACE SHOP REAL NATURE RICE MASK

Rice:- It exfoliates dead skin cells and brightens dull skin with no artificial coloring contained.

How to use:
Step 1: Apply the sheet on your face after thorough rinsing
Step 2: Leave it for a few minutes
Step 3: Gently rinse with water and wipe with cotton for best results

Rice mask has brightening effect and is gentler to the skin so skin.  It is also moisturising to skin.  The mask sheet is huge enough for my face.  There is some scent which is not too strong but I have no idea what it is. Overall, it does make my face brighter and more moisturise.  The effect lasts for few hours.  One will need to continuously use the mask to see more brightening effect.

Not for anyone who wants to avoid paraben and fragrance.

I did the review for the TheFaceShop aloe sheet mask.  Check it out to see the size and texture of the sheet masks as the sheet masks looks the same for the Real Nature range.
