Hi beautiful people,
Klairs came out with a physical sunscreen for for oily and combination skin, Klairs Mid Day Blue UV Shield SPF 50+ Pa++++ which is in the blue line with the motto Blue never felt so good.
Something happened to my package so the destroyed box isn't the best to look at so I am not spamming this post with the picture of the box. It is really pretty simple design.
About:
This physical sunscreen is hydrating, lightweight, non-irritant, and gentle for any skin type, even sensitive skin. It is SPF 50/PA++++ and contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to protect your skin against UVA/UVB. By containing guaiazulene it also helps calm the skin. It has a natural tone-up effect after application with a semi-matte finish. Recommended for combination and oily skin.
Packaging: My box is destroyed but you all the information is here and on Wishtrend website. Simple baby blue packaging. The sunscreen is 80ml which is big and generous for a sunscreen. The baby blue tube has a screwed cap which is great for travelling.
Ingredients talk:
Ingredients:
Water, Cyclohexasiloxane, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Polyglyceryl-3 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Dibutyl Adipate, Propanediol, Caprylyl Methicone, 1,2-Hexanediol, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Betaine, Magnesium Sulfate, Hydrogen Dimethicone, Inositol, Aluminum Hydroxide, C30-45 Alkyl Cetearyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Stearic Acid, Pentylene Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Octyldodecanol, Guaiazulene, Echium Plantagineum Seed Oil, Cardiospermum Halicacabum Flower/Leaf/Vine Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Unsaponifiables, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Tocopherol, Fragrance
Paraben free, sulfate free, alcohol free, Eu allergen free, silicone free. It is not fungal-acne safe (malassezia). The fungal acne trigger ingredients are Stearic Acid and Echium Plantagineum Seed Oil.
About the ingredients, the main sunscreen that provides the protection is zinc oxide and titanium dioxide which are for physical protection which is high on the ingredient list.
There are some plant ingredients, vitamin E, plant oil and also ingredients that provide hydration and film forming on the skin. Guaiazulene which is the ingredient that makes the sunscreen blue is from chamomile is one of my favourite calming ingredient.
The rest of the ingredients are for hydration, emulsifier, texture, solvent and preservatives.
Texture and Scent: It has this blue light cream that goes on the skin in semi matte texture. It has this bluish white cast if you use enough amount(not 5pea size) for protection. It does cover up my redness on my skin. On darker skin, you will have a stronger cast on your face unless you use like 5pea size which is not enough for sun proctection. It has allergen free fragrance in very tiny amount so that the sunscreen doesn't smell like rotten plastic. It has a light plasticky sweet scent which disappeared after 30minutes on the face.
Review: It has this cooling feeling on the skin that last for about few seconds that calm down my redness. It doesn't clogged my pores or gives me pimples. I think it is a great makeup base for makeup too. You do need to use an oil cleanser since some foam cleanser is not able to remove this physical sunscreen.
Overall: It is a great physical sunscreen for combination skin type and acne prone skin with redness on lighter skin colour. I think it is impossible to have physical sunscreen that do not have any cast at all unless you use very little or not enough to provide protection.
Comparison: Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50+ Pa++++ and Klairs Mid Day Blue UV Shield SPF 50+ Pa++++ are both different.
Klairs Mid Day Blue UV Shield is not really the same as the Klairs Mid Day Blue Sun Lotion SPF40 PA++ in terms of ingredients. Both doesn't not have the same scent.
Klairs Mid Day Blue UV Shield-has bluish cast (physical sunscreen)
Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence-no cast at all (chemical sunscreen)
Here is the video for short comparison between both of them.
