A. by Bom is saloon that has many popular celebrities such as Exo-Lay, Sandra Park, Park Soo Jin, Choi Jin Hyuk, Han Ye Seul, BOA go for their beauty regime.  A. by Bom started in 2010 but have just recently launch their product in October 2016 which already garnered mentions from beauty enthusiasts.

A. by Bom Super Power Baby 3 Step Ultra Moisture Mask has different ingredients in their eye serum, soothing cream and the ultra moisture mask which is great since it means they put great thought into them instead of just redundant ingredients which does the same thing.  The eye serum contains calming, moisturising, revitalising ingredients such as beta carotene, lavender, green tea bergamot, aloe vera and vitamin C.  As for the soothing cream there are a lot of moisturising and brightening ingredients which are very beneficial to dry skin type.  Shea butter, jojobal oil, licorice,morus alba, angelica, sesame seed, hyaluronic acid, beewax and other plant ingredients which presented in hanbang skincare products.

The sheet mask contains the most interesting ingredients which are trehalose,betaine, ferments (ginseng, potatoes, rice, Ma yuen), hyaluronate acid, apple extract, ceramide 3, niacinamide and castor oil.  Still go through the ingredients first provided above to check.

I think A. by Bom Super Power Baby 3 Step Ultra Moisture Mask has a great packaging since it is really convenient to bring during travelling. It save the space for us to bring cleanser and sunscreen. It is hard when we have to bring moisturiser, essence and moisturiser during travelling so this type of packaging is really convenient.

A. by Bom Super Power Baby 3 Step Ultra Moisture Mask is a great sheet mask to bring during travel especially in the flight since the air can be very dry so this is going to be really nice and moisturising.

I have tried a few of A. by Bom Super Power Baby 3 Step Ultra Moisture Mask and I do think this is great mask for someone whose skin become too dry after makeup. Also it is something nice for someone that just want to do those "no makeup makeup" since it does make the skin glow.

I can only use a little of the soothing cream since I have combination skin and in a hot humid weather, it just doesn't sink in that well if I use too much.  I use the extra soothing cream as sleeping mask which works out great.  It is very moisturising and hydrating the really dry peeling area around my mouth.  It has a light refreshing floral scent which isn't noticeable once applied. I do love the emulsion light lotion texture.

There are a lot of the eye serum which I decant a little to use the next day.  The eye serum has a very light watery liquid which absorbs easily into the eye area. It does hydrate my eye area and help with the fine lines.  There is mild floral scent for the eye serum. Please do not think that my eye bags disappeared because of this mask, it is there when I smile because of my face features. I don't want people to think that this is the only thing you need for skincare.

A. by Bom Super Power Baby 3 Step Ultra Moisture Mask has a great fit of the sheet mask. The material is soft and has wooden patterns instead of the usual paper sheet masks.  It clings really well on my skin and I could wear for about 45 minutes.  There is the same faint scent of the soothing cream which is relaxing actually.

I find that I like this sheet mask especially for the hydration and the soothing effect it gives.  My skin sure feel smooth for three days even when I barely do anything on my face for that three days.  I only use a cleanser and this A. by Bom Super Power Baby 3 Step Ultra Moisture Mask only and it is enough.

I think it is definitively worth the hype. The hydration is well balanced because it does not clogged my pores at all but give enough hydration boast.  It is also make travel easy since it has eye cream, moisturiser and sheet mask in one packet.

Overall, A. by Bom Super Power Baby 3 Step Ultra Moisture Mask is for someone looking for instant hydration boost, dry skin, travel friendly, hanbang plants ingredients, during winter and no allergies to any of the ingredients.  Also if you wanted to try products used by Kpop idols.

FOOD REVIEW: I EAT A CARNIVOROUS PITCHER PLANT

Hi foodies,

Truly, Asia is a place with varieties of cuisine and food.  We have food that some find it hard to stomach.  Food ingredients such as sea cucumber is deemed as one of the greatest food for beauty and staying young but the looks may make some run to the nearest exit.

Today, I am eating carnivorous Pitcher plants lemang which looks more like lunch fit for Tarzan. I bought it to try for science and to show my love of Asian food 😅.  So if I don't have any new post after this, it means that I had probably died a horrifying death.  Honestly, who are not terrified after watching all those hungry gross plant eating horror movies and now eating one?????

Pitcher plant refers to species of Nepenthes and the Sarraceniaceae with about 170 species.  It is characterized by the pitfall traps which look like pitcher with a closure at the top.  It lures insects into the pitcher trap with sweet nectar and then drown the insect with the liquid which is called phytotelmata.  Yup, basically I am eating a bug trap plant.

Just like the Pokemon Victreebel and Bellsprout it is a genuinely terrifying looking thing. However, it recently became a really popular as one of the traditional dish served during Hari Raya Puasa(a festival) to replace Lemang which is a traditional food made of glutinous rice, coconut milk, salt which is cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick lined with banana leaves. It is also a food eaten by the Bidayuh in Sarawak.

I think the one I have here is the Nepenthes species. I am not sure how this one look like in reality since it would means I need to go deep into the tropical forest to hunt for one 😓😰 . That is if I am not abducted by some forest aliens or eaten by wild beasts first.

Anyway, here inside this cooked Pitcher plant glutinous rice lemang.  Hopefully this one has not become graveyard to too many insects or bugs.😰

Inside is the glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk and salt.  It is easily removed by just cutting it with a knife or I can just tear the skin out like a Hulk.

It tastes the same as glutinous rice with coconut milk wrapped with banana leaves.  If you served it to me without the pitcher plant, I won't even know that it is cooked inside this carnivorous plant.  The glutinous rice is delicious on its own and it would be even better with chicken curry. The glutinous rice is soft with smell of banana leaves.  There is no bitterness in it.  I would eat it again if I am able to find it again because it is a rare traditional food.  I do need those magic spell from Harry Potter to remove that particular strands of nightmare memories from watching too much plant eating human movies.

So, the next time you are in South East Asia and you are lucky to come across this pitcher plant glutinous rice is around, do try it out.  It is sure better than Durian which is another love of mine for those adventurous people out there.

I have acne prone skin and have been dealing with acne for more than 15 years ago so I am in for any skincare products to get rid of acne. The bottle is plastic so do not leave it under the sun or inside the car for it to melt.  I can actually see the amount of product inside the bottle which is great. I actually use cotton pad for this toner because I just like to wipe my face off all those death cells.  The opening is great to get enough products without spilling it out which is nice.

By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water does not have any smell to it but if you still want a smell, it is like very faint plastic scent.  It is very watery and absorb fast into the skin.  There is a tart feeling which is a characteristic of acid.

If you are like me, (I have acne prone skin forever) then you might understand that I am more interest in product that gives me fast result without those irritation.  I have been trying many BHA and AHA skincare products in the past if you do check out my blog history.

Mandelic acid is actually extracted from bitter almond. So it is not really for those with nut allergic or allergic to almond.  Mandelic acid is one of the many types of AHA.  For examples, glycolic acid, acetic acid (TCA), lactic acid, malic acid, citric acid etc.  The strongest AHA that is able to penetrate the skin deeper is glycolic.  It can work faster but also cause a lot of irritation so not everyone can use it.  When your skin is red and raw from the over exfoliation, your skin actually does not heal well and it reject majority of the products that you normally can use on daily basis. In some people the skin retaliate by breaking out more.  So, strong AHAs are usually only done as peel in skin clinic where there is professional to do it in a sterile environment. Of course that comes with a price to pay and your skin peeling for a week.

For skincare products at home, mandelic acid is a great AHA because it is the weakest AHAs among all but has the ability to exfoliate the skin, anti-inflammatory and also antibacterial.  However, 20% of mandelic acid can be too much for everyday use so mandelic acid around 5% to 10% is ideal for most acne prone skin type.

By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water has about 5% mandelic acid which is gentle actually.  Besides, the amount of mandelic acid is suspended in water which makes the penetration not too deep into the skin.  Other ingredients are added for hydration, soothing, retain moisture and to brighten the skin.  Mandelic acid with just water is going to  be very drying so ingredients such as Beta-Glucan, Panthenol, Licorice Root Extract, Sweet Almond Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Sorbitol, Arginine (amino acid), and Hydrolyzed Collagen.

The other ingredients (Dimethyl Sulfone, Chlorphenesin, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin) are mostly preservative and to control the texture of the product.  There is a interesting ingredient in this which is Sodium Citrate which is use to increase the pH of the product. I think this is the reason that this product pH is at 4-5 which is the best for AHA to work.

If you are into the current trend of low pH thing, then you would know that products should of be certain pH for something to work bla bla bla ... .  I have a post HERE talking about that if you are interested on it.  However, too low and your skin is going to burn.  Acid that has pH more than 7 is useless.

By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water makes the skin smooth, brighten the skin, exfoliate the skin for other skincare products to get absorbed better, gentle, heal the acne scars, makes the pores cleaner and keep the skin clearer.  If you have those underground acne, it does bring the acne up to the surface faster.  It does sting for a few seconds if you have open wound so do not pick on your acne.

I would recommend to use it only at night and few times in a week. Also avoid using other BHA, AHA or retinol when you are using this Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water since you can easily over exfoliate and make your face red and breakout more.  If your skin can tolerate stronger stuff, you can add a weaker BHA with it. If you want to use retinol or those strong tretinoin, avoid using it on the same day.

I use this toner four times a week with my other calming and gentle skincare products.  it does not make my acne worse or cause more acne. On the first three days, I could feel that my skin becomes smoother.  The acne and pimples I have become gradually smaller and get rid of the red acne marks faster.
Currently, I don't own or use any strong actives since I prefer gentle approach towards treating acne.  This toner won't be able to make dented or 'holes' type of scars disappeared from the skin if that is what you think to get for.

Overall, By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water is a great gentle AHA toner for treating acne and skin texture issues.  If you have dry sensitive skin, it is best to use it twice a week and with a lot of calming moisturising products.  For combination skin like me, I find it okay to use everyday if you do not use any other strong actives. Also use sunscreen when using this products cause you do not want to undo everything.

What is interesting is Keep in Touch White Blending Base Cushion SPF50+ PA+++ review has a great sturdy whimsical cushion case.  The case is actually shimmery silver which my camera is not doing justice to it.  Inside there is the shape of 'ying yang'. The brown colour is the colour cover base which is to conceal blemishes enlarged pores,corrects uneven skintone and texture and provide sun protection.  The white is the whitening moisture base essence which can be used more to brighten the skin tone, provide moisture and prevent irritation.

There are three shades: Ivory Pure, Ivory Warm and Natural Beige tone. The Ivory Pure was sold out when I went to check the shades.

Ivory Pure is for someone with light skin tone that wanted to cover the red skin tone and make it brighter. recommended for some that use the Korean #21

Ivory Warm is for yellowish, dull, yellow olive undertone skin tone to a vivid and brighter skin toner. Recommended for someone having #22

Natural Beige has the whitening base in colour and the coverage base with darker tone. recommended for someone with darker skin tone. recommended for someone having #23

The white one contains the whitening essence which is to provide hydration, brighten the skin and give subtle glow to the skin. The coverage cover base is to provide coverage for the dark circles, blemishes and freckles all day long.

There is a Rubicelle puff that has antibacterial effect and for easy application of the products.  That is the reason one use cushion because the puff that comes with it helps with the application.  It is really a nice fluffy puff.

Keep in Touch White Blending Base Cushion SPF50+ PA+++ does have slight cooling effect on the skin, stick to the skin and cover all the blemishes making the skin flawless with subtle glow skin that looks like my natural skin.  The essence does brighten the skin by one tone lighter so one would need to add a little more of the coverage cover base to provide more cover.

This cushion is really hydrating as my skin stay moisturise for 8 hours without any dry patches.

The coverage is great, feels light, not sticky at all, doesn't oxidise on my skin at all and the effect stays on for 8 hours of wear.  By the end of 7 hours, there is a slight oiliness on my nose which shows through but it is easily fix with a little powder.  The other parts of my face stay the same as when I first apply the cushion in the morning so I don't even need to do touch up.  It does not clogged my skin and does not break me out.  My skin is pore-less aka Korean celebrities skin. In fact, my skin looks the same if not hydrated after using this cushion.

However, it is not waterproof or rub proof so do not touch your face with your fingers.  As for the scent, there is a very faint sweet scent but it is barely noticeable once it is on the skin. Keep in Touch White Blending Base Cushion SPF50+ PA+++ doesn't clogged the pores or settle into the pores even without using a primer.  It is smooth and leaves a satin finish which I really like.

One thing is you might find it hard to want to take the coverage cover base(brown colour) if you want that more.  I do need to press at the brown with the edge of the puff.  You would need maneuvering a bit to get more of the either cover base or the whitening essence.

Overall, Keep in Touch White Blending Base Cushion SPF50+ PA+++ is a great cushion for those are looking for cushion that provides the effect or serum foundation but comes in the convenience of a cushion case for easy application.  It is suitable for every skin type especially dry skin type and the price is affordable as well.

Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Warming Treatment

Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Warming Treatment has a light fruity smell.  The product comes in a squeeze tube which is convenient.  The opaque white treatment comes out as a light lotion which I applied to my hair after washing. It works better if you leave it for about 10-15 minutes.  I usually wash it off after 3minutes since I don't have the patient to just wait.  It actually still works and soften my hair which untangled my wire hair, makes it really soft and smooth.  I am not sure about the shine since my hair is already shiny to begin with.

There is a lot of plant oil and other moisturising ingredients so make sure not to apply it near your scalp or your face as it can clog the skin.  It is great on the hair since it is just keratin which does not have pores.

Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Warming Treatment doesn't contains silicone which is great because it doesn't leave a film or residue on the hair.  I actually love the effect on my hair and I don't have to use other hair products which can make my hair feel greasy.  I do tried using it with other shampoo and it works just as great.  The pH is around 4-5 so if you are looking for low pH treatment for gentle hair products, then this is in that categories.

Overall Jungle Botanics Forest Leaves Warming Treatment is light nice hair treatment which works great for any hair type unless it is too dry.
