RANDOM: WHAT ARE THE TOP QUESTIONS PEOPLE LIKE TO ASK ME?

I am actually bore and you are probably too so I think let’s go into the questions people like to ask me.  Over the years, I have received emails or people pm me in the facebook asking me these few same questions.  Here, I am going to say what I think about those questions.  So, just take it as a laugh XD .

great skin&life-beautyfaceskin123 top questions people like to ask me

Acne related questions
I already mentioned millions time that I am not a doctor nor am I trained in one.  I am just a beauty enthusiast that have tried through trial and errors that I have found products and tips that works for me. Please check if you have the same skin type, allergies and living in the same warm humid weather.

My skin is this this this… tell me what to buy?
-          I really don’t like this question when people asked me to direct them immediately to what they should buy.  I am not a doctor.  Even doctors need tons of information and see you before making judgment. Don’t just send me a photo and expect me to do miracle with that alone.  I am not paid and if you are only willing to look for some products that I have never tried before, do it at your own risk.  Besides, people go to dermatologist and they are usually prescribe with pills while I can’t since I am not a doctor. So, don’t come to me when you seriously need more than just a better skincare routine.  I think I have mentioned if you have tried many of the things I mentioned, then better just go to see a doctor because I can’t do anything for something that is internal and severe.

I am using green tea foundation. Why it doesn’t help my skin?
-First, it is makeup and obviously when brand marketed it as having green tea, I am sure it is very low in the list so don’t expect a makeup product to help your acne prone skin.  I think I have mentioned makeup clogged the pores. People like to think that all the wonderful plant ingredients are going to do wonderful thing in MAKEUP. MAKEUP not matter what it is is still MAKEUP and won’t get rid of skin problems and care for the skin.  I don’t think I ever said that Foundation gets RID of my acne or soothes my skin right???

I am in this country. I want to buy these things. Get it for me now.
I think I have mentioned millions time that I am NOT A SHOP and I don’t sell things. OR there are these nasty people trying to get free things or scams?  There is link to the shop if you want to buy.  Some people don’t even get it when I already said that I don’t sell things and is not a SHOP.  Keep telling me to get the products for them which I am pretty sure that they are scammers.  Some understand that I don’t sell and usually inform them of the another brand for it as well where they can get it.

Do you photoshoped your photos because your skin looks good?
Personally, I don’t know how to use photoshop. I am terrible at it and I am just using the photoscape to edit the brightness and to watermark it.  My skin as you know is acne prone so I break out easily when I use something wrong.  That is why I don’t blog daily as my skin can’t keep up with constant trial.  Do you know how afraid I am every time I have to try a new product?

Besides, I usually try a product for a month or at least two weeks before putting it up on my post to be sure of my views on it.  I also continue to use those products until I ran out of them because I don’t want to waste products.  I don’t know how to even use concealer to put up makeup so you will usually see my total bare face for every skincare products I have tried. Besides, I don’t like to apply makeup when I am just going to go sleep then after the skincare.

My skin is not ‘good’ everyday.  Sometimes I have redness because my skin gets irritated.  So please don’t talk about good genes because I have a whole face of acne in the past and my father have severe acne that has pits all over his face.

You are beauty blogger, why don't you do makeup review often?
Actually, I only use eyebrow and also lip products because I am honestly terrible in choosing colour based on just the website.  Besides, I rather spend money on skincare than makeup that I will probably just use few times since I am lazy and have no events that needs me to wear something nice.  Some people doesn’t even  know when I use makeup or don’t so might as well go bare face.  Another is I am lazy to practice the makeup on my face so I am not good with makeup.  I am more excited with lips products and eyebrow than with the latest foundation that has the texture of serum.

Are you paid for your reviews?  You seem to get many products for free.
I am not paid for my reviews-not a cent because I don’t think it fits my principle if I am told to write a glowing review even when I hate the product.  I won’t use words like “trash, useless’ and harsh words to describe the products I do not like.  This go across all products be it I bought it myself or sponsored ones because I think people will know if I am just trying to sugar something up or to damm that product too much because I hate the people or the company for breaking promises.  Besides, I think brands should probably take views into consideration to produce better products instead of being smug about it.

I received sponsored products so that I have more products to review or just because I am curious about a certain product. Okay, I do admit that being a poor working person with the whole family to feed makes me unable to spend on things too expensive on so having some sponsored products help me to have more varieties.  I am really grateful and thankful when I do received products and so I try to review them with my best effort and be honest about them.

Another thing is it is not good to keep switching products after products and that is why some will only accept high end brands or do makeup since it is risky, product might wreck the skin and no one wants to wake up with a pizza face.  Besides, it is not easy to show you my real skin especially when it is bad and I look like crap.

So, I think that are my opinions and it is not trying to defame anyone.  If you have any questions, do leave it in the comments section.

Opinions expressed here are my own and honest as always.  It is also not to tarnished or to disgrace anyone.

TIPS:DO AND DON'T DURING YOUR MONTHLY CYCLES

Sorry,  this is a girl thing which might be some embarrassment to read for male out there.  I wrote this to share about the Asian stuff which some people out there might be curious to know.  Personally, I have terrible cramps during my monthly thing so there are some things that I do and don't do to make the pain bearable.  Else I will be on the floor and the pain is only temporary eased after I eat painkillers.  My mum is a traditional minded person and so she doesn't allow me to have painkillers.  Instead these are the few things that helps.

Traditional Chinese medicine talks about 'cold' and 'warm'.  It is not the water 'hot' or the ice 'cold' thing but a principal of every food has it 'aura'. Don't ask why the food is considered 'cold' or 'hot' because that is how it is.  The Chinese believes about the balance of Ying Yang.  So, when woman is having monthly thing, it is consider 'weak' and so should avoid some certain food.

TIPS:DO AND DON'T DURING YOUR MONTHLY CYCLES

Don't

1. Don't drink green tea
- green tea is 'cold' so it will makes the stomach area 'cold' and make the blood clot more which is really not good as it will cause you more pain.  It is good to drink green tea on other normal days but avoid this when you have your monthly thing.

2. Don't wash your hair on your first day
-the cold air can get into the pores of the head and make your body more prone to pain.  This is true if you do not want to have frequent headaches or migraines.  If you wash it on the second day, make sure to dry it as soon as possible.  Don't sleep with your hair wet.

3. Don't bath with cold water
-bath with warm water to encourage blood flow. cold warm makes the stomach area cold so if you are not in pain the first day, you will the next month.

4.  Don't eat something sour (no lemon or tamarind)
-In Malaysia, we have this Laksa which is spicy sour so this food is supposed to cause more 'bleeding' and pain.  Yeah, I accidentally drank this and almost die 'bleeding' a lot for 7days.

5. Don't eat anything 'iced' or from the fridge directly  or ice
-it is considered that anything from the fridge has a 'cold' air to it so cold stuff is not good for you.  Cooked food are different.  SO, say goodbye with your cold bubble tea or ice cream for few days

6. Don't sleep in air conditioner or on the floor
-sleeping in air conditioner means that you are putting your body along with all the 'cold' stuff and make your body even 'colder' when you are supposed to warm up your body.  it is the same as the floor because floor has 'water' that gets into the skin and hurts the body.  There is where the cramp comes.

Do
1. Drink warm ginger tea, eat dark chocolates and grapes
-ginger tea is 'warm' so it helps with the blood flow. You are not supposed to drink ginger tea if you are going for surgery.  I am not joking here. ginger is similar to ginseng.  It is not for one who is going for surgery (not matter what surgery it is).
You can drink plain water but make sure it is warm plain water and not those straight from the fridge.
Dark chocolates and grapes helps with the pain.  SO, get those food ready every month.  Fresh ginger is not as useful as the yellow powdered dry ones.  Good dry powdered warm ginger are warm the moment you drink. You can actually feel the warm fuzzy feeling going into the throat.

2. Wear socks
-the foot is the part which is 'cold' so wear socks to sleep. You can apply some 'warming' balm on your soles and your stomach.  The only warm balm that I like is the one from Thailand(Siang Pure Balm). The balm is in a 12g glass jar and aluminum cap.  If you are lazy to wear socks, then just make sure your blanket is thick enough to warm your leg.

3. Eat more warm food
-Of course with this, I don't mean heated food from the fridge. Try some sandwiches, meat, bacon or red meat.  We generally need more 'warm' food so it is meat.  Lesser vegetables since those are cold.

4. Wear clothes that covered the shoulder area and stomach
-Basically when we have the monthly thing, the body 'cold' and weak so don't exposed those 'weak' area to coldness which can disrupt the 'Qi' around the body.  Even if it is so warm and humid in Malaysia, I will wear long sleeves and thick clothes on the few days else I can become sick easily.

5. Eat nutritious food the day after your monthly cycles
-it is the best time to take some 'warm' herbal food the day after your monthly cycles to help replenish your body.  In Indonesia, they eat 'Jamu' while in here the Chinese will drink some sort of herbal soup.  It is also for young looking skin.  Most people will drink those red dates, ginseng, some herbs plus black chicken.  If you are rich, probably sea cucumber or ginseng. XP  Poor people like me will just have to make do with eggs, meat and ginger.  It isn't as fantastic as ginseng but it is still better than nothing.

I think that are the tips that I wanted to share with my dearest readers.  All the advices I talk about comes down to the same thing-keep your body warm with 'warm' food and avoid 'cold' stuff because those disrupt the blood flow and the thing that cause cramps.  Everyone has different 'Qi'. I have friends who don't fall sick or have cramps unlike me who is a sick fragile person.  Just like acne, I wish that I can just use plain water for my face or do not need to deal with all these monthly pain thing.

Do let me know if you have any question for me or any tips that you want to share here. Thank you.

BEAUTY FOOD:SEA CUCUMBER WITH HERBAL SOUP (NON HALAL)

Hi Foodies,

Behold today's menu, something that you will probably see on a friday Horror movie XP. I am just kidding  XP.  I am sharing with you this SEA Cucumber cooked the traditional.way. The look for sea cucumber might just shocked most of you but XP it is one of the beauty food for youthful skin.

It is one of the beauty food recommended to look beautiful and have smooth bouncy skin since sea cucumber contains a lot of collage and it has zero fats in them XP.  Please overlook their hideous looks.

This is one of the recipe used to cook the sea cucumber.  It is actually quite troublesome considering one need to soak and change the water for the sea cucumber and also take few hours to prepare the trotter. It is kind of difficult to cook actually.  Nevertheless, I still need to put this up because I don't know when I will get to eat sea cucumber again considering the price. > <

SEA CUCUMBER WITH HERBAL SOUP BAK KUT TEH
If you are wondering where it the sea cucumber, it is the lighter shades long glob far from the vegetables. your lower left of the picture.

Ingredients:

1 pig's trotter (you can use chicken instead)
10 red dates
2 shallot
5 mushroom
2 big sea cucumber (cut it in few pieces)
1 packet of bak kut teh
200ml water
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Steps;
1. Clean the pig trotter and boiled it with water for 15 minutes.  Take it out and wash it again with water. Remove all the fats.  Do not use back the water to boil the pork just now.
2.  Add in clean water, pork , red dates, mushroom, shallot, black pepper into a clean pot.
3. Boiled for 2 hours.  Then add in sea cucumber and cooked for another 30 minutes.
4. Then add in soya sauce, some vegetables.
5. Serve with rice.

You can use chicken to replace the trotter.

So are you still with me or some of you are already fainted looking into amount of  NSFW ?

The steps might look little and easy considering that I did not mention the amount of time to clean the sea cucumber as well as the time one need to clean the trotter properly.  Make sure to really clean the sea cucumber or it will taste really horrible.

My friend doesn't like sea cucumber because it is tasteless and most people feel like you are eating a blob of tasteless slob. However, beauty enthusiast loves it for the protein and collagen without adding extra pounds onto the body. Well, natural collagen inside the body to get the anti ageing effect which is better than sea cucumber cream?

TRADITIONAL FOOD LOST IN TIME- CHINESE CASSAVA CAKES / TRADITIONAL CHINESE TAPIOCA CAKES RECIPE

Cassava root is a staple food in many countries. It was the food eaten during the war to replace rice because it was easy to grow. If you have read or watch in many video, cassava is actually poisonous if you don’t know how to prepare it. Now it is no longer consider ‘cheap’ since not many people grow it.

Nowadays, cassava appears inside bubble teas as pearls.

I love the fried tapioca but well it is not really that healthy. Here is a recipe for a healthy traditional Chinese tapioca cakes.

Ingredients:

300g Tapioca /cassava

fried dried shrimps
cooked shallots
Chillies removed the seed
Pinch of salt
pinch of sugar
pepper
green onions
200ml water (or just enough to make sure it is not too soft)
100g flour

Steps:

1.  Grind the cassava with a grinder.  You can also smash it but it won't taste that good. Pour the extra water away.

2.  Add in all the other ingredients.

3.  Pour it into the pan.

4.  Steam it for about 20minutes.

5.  When it is cold, you can fried it if you like to make it more firm and crispy.

Enjoy them. It is nice to serve for tea =) .  This is a traditional Chinese cakes and only people during the olden days eat it.  I think this has now become extinct.  I don't see this anymore.  Besides, the younger generation doesn't like these kind of cakes anymore.  Ermm... I am not that old if it gives any impression that I sound ancient. XP

Tips: Do not reuse the water that you use to wash the cassava as they are poisonous.

REVIEW ON NADEJE MILLE CREPE THE ORIGINAL MILLE CREPE

People say “curiosity kills the cat”. It doesn’t kill anyone except killing my expectation. How curious? I was curious enough to think about the mille crepe for three days and two nights. I also keep on bugging my friend to no end for it. Partly also because someone asked me to try it out knowing that I am going there.  This is part of the food trip in Melaka I did in late December.

Yes, I have to queue up and I hate queuing up for anything at all. I have to keep on telling myself to be patient for this famous cake. We got seated first because there were only two of us. So, if you are going out there in a group, chance is you are going to wait longer. The bigger your group, the longer you might need to wait.

Let face it, bigger groups tend to hand out really long compare to two people who are just there for dessert and nothing else.

We ordered the orange chocolate and green tea. Both are non alcohol. There are alcoholic mille crepes if you want but well, I was more interested in trying the green tea mille crepe.

I probably have Milky way High of an expectation for the mille crepes. I was not blown away to Pluto when I ate them. The green tea cake is not soft enough and it is too creamy. The red beans is too small for me to be able to feel the taste and texture of how red beans should be.

Orange chocolates taste better. There is mixture of chocolates and oranges. However, the chocolates could be more as I can taste more heavy creamy than the chocolates.

I think my experience was not really a good one partially because I was seated next to a family with a kid that is noisy enough for me to think twice of coming back. Parents just let the child run around and this disturb people next to them. I just can’t wait to get out of the shop because I like to enjoy my food in a peaceful manner, not with disturbance.

Overall, it is not exceptional enough for me to go again. It is a hip place for the young adult and youngster. I rather go back to the Jonker Street for the Melaka coffee or other state coffee.

You can get a stamp with every Rm15 spent in a single receipt. Collect 10 and you can get a slice of cake.

RM12.60 per slice (including 6% GST- RM0.725)

FOOD IN JONKER STREET, MELAKA , RESTORAN NYONYA SUAN TRADITIONAL CUISINE, FIRST&ONLY CALANTHE ART CAFE MALAYSIA 13 STATES COFFEE

Hi readers,

I think once in a while, you are interested to see something else than beauty and skincare.

The reason I don’t talk about my trip because most of the time, I forgot to take photos. XP

I told you before I am a glutton and when I remembered to take photos; I already gobbled them up. I can’t show you ugly looking half eaten food!

I figured that you might be interested in my recent trip to Malacca if you are coming to Malaysia somewhere in the future. What I am going to say is probably different from what others said so take it with bags of salt XP. After all, my taste buds are probably different from others because I am use to spices and flavorful food.

Malaysian’s food has stronger flavor compared to Taiwanese food and some people might not like it.

So what is good to eat in Malacca? That was my first question to her when I asked her what is good to eat there. I know because I am a glutton.

So I quote her answers “Her mum’s cooking is the best”. She was at lost for answers to my question because of course I expect something that will blow my mind away and she knew how high my expectation for food is. I do prefer home cook food actually.

You can actually find or Google up those common places for Top ten foods to eat in Malacca so I should not dwell into it.

I did not go for the famous satay celup because you need at least 3 people to eat them. It opens only at night. I did not go for ice cream cendol made with coconut water too. The main reason is because I hate waiting in line for food. Besides, there are tons of reviews for those so I don’t think I want to queue up outside the hot weather for 1 hour to just add into those review.

Better go somewhere else for food.

 RESTORAN NYONYA SUAN

This time I went to a friend’s place so she brought me to this Nyonya restaurant. There is no pork and they serve traditional cuisine. Nyonya cuisine is actually a blend of chinese and malays cuisine.  The speciality lies that is spicy so for those coming to Melaka, Nyonya cuisine is a must try. XP

This dish is for those can eat the traditional 'ulam'-raw herbal vegetables.  The toilet will stink so lucky we are outside that day. I love the fresh prawn.  It is not spicy in my opinion but to those who doesn't eat chillies this is going to burn your tongue.

My friend was actually very full as the portion was actually big.  Even if you eat a lot like me you will find it a lot.  Overall, not bad and I will patron this restaurant again =) .  This is actually near Mahkota parade.

It is 35 celsius room temperature and outside it is 45 celsius so bring something breathable and light! Just wear t-shirts and pants will do. You can wear sleeveless and short pants too. Just no bikini.

Here is the better tasting Chicken rice ball. If you want to try, this one is better. I can’t go because I already ate my lunch and dessert.

The Cendol stalls

Cendol, JONKER STREET, MELAKA
cendol
The cendol from the stall next to the river and opposite the red house. My friend said the river used to stink so badly in the past. Not sure how much those cendol cost because it was my friend's treat. XP
It is nice to have a bowl of cold cendol on a scorching hot day.  It is hard to find seat here and we had to share the table with others.  One tiny table with five adults so one might have to quickly finish your cendol since we might not be comfortable enough to talk with others.  People though we are Singaporeans because well, I look Chinese but speaks English.  Locals speak Mandarin.

 San Shu Gong,JONKER STREET
 San Shu Gong

Before you got out from Jonker Street, remember to stop at a corner shop named San Shu Gong for souvenir. Their coconut cookies and candies are great. I also bought some herbal 'Ba Kut teh' herbs which is very famous and only available in Malaysia. XP Sorry I really forgot to take a photo of the shop.  The thought went out of my mind because it was too hot and we just want to go somewhere cold.

I am thankful of my friend for being such a kind host for bringing me around.  She had to follow me eating the whole day too. Pity her because I hate to be outside under the scorching sun.  Ermm, no photo of me because I look like an idiot and my friend dislike her photos up here XP  .  Well, looking at food photos are way better than looking at me right?  I actually gained like 4.37 kg when I weight myself at my friend's place!  OMG!
