I am sorry for this lateness in reviewing products from this Japanese's sake brewery, Kikumasamune.  All the products from Kiku masamune contains ferments so for those who are into affordable Japanese skincare products here is the review for the foam cleanser contains sake filtrate.  Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin Care Wash Foam.

Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin Care Wash Foam does foams a lot with a pea size products.  It has a PH of 8 which is high.  It sure cleanses the skin too well that I feel that my skin is tight.  The product come up from the tube in forms of emulsion so it is easy to squeeze too much if one is not careful.  It does remove all the other makeup including waterproof makeup which I guess is the reason for its high PH.  Higher PH cleanses better but also harsher on the skin.

Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin Care Wash Foam contains vitamin E, sake filtrate, horse placenta proteinm foaming agents and cleansing agents.  As with all the other Kikumasamune products, this smells like rice ferment smells but it can smell like banana or bubblegum to others.

Overall, Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin Care Wash Foam is more suitable for someone with lower skin PH (males), oily skin type,  too lazy for double cleansing at night, doesn't mind the horse placenta ingredient in it, love ferments and like foam cleanser.

I prefer the Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care cleansing gel.

Kiku masamune are famous for the which is Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care Lotion(high moist) for the hydrating properties, giant size and ferments.

If there is another product from the Kiku masamune that I like from the all the other 5 products that I have tried is this Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care cleansing gel.

Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care cleansing gel contains sake filtrate, arbutin, horse protein, parabens and some other cleansing agents.  The cleanser comes up as opaque pink gel which doesn't foam at all. I do need to use a little more compare to Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin Care Wash Foam to avoid tugging my skin. The gel is smooth and is like jelly which is nice.

Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care cleansing gel has PH of 5-6 which I had checked with my lousy PH paper XD .  I use it as my morning cleanser since it is gentle and does leave my skin hydrated.  It smells like a gentle bubblegum to me but some other may think differently of the scent.

It comes a huge tube, affordable price and gentle on the skin.  Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care cleansing gel doesn't removed makeup that well so use an oil cleanser or micellar water or makeup remover before this cleanser.

Overall, I think Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care cleansing gel is a great morning low PH cleanser for every skin type, loves ferment, no allergic to the ingredients listed and prefer gel cleanser.

I just wish that they will remove the animal ingredient from it.  I feel bad for using it each time T_T . I don't know how many of you out there share the same sentiment as I am.


I prefer this Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care cleansing gel over the Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin Care Wash Foam .  However, you might different opinion.

I am trying to put up all the reviews for Kiku masamune products individually instead in one giant posts so here is the review on the lesser known products of Kiku masamune.

Here is a review on the Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care Lotion which is a hydrating toner.  This  is the lesser known compare to the Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care Lotion(high moist) because there is no rave on it.

Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care Lotion comes in a giant bottle of 500ml for about USD12 which is really affordable considering that it has sake filtrate in it.  The ingredients are shorter compare to the high moist one and it does have alchohol denat and added another paraben in it. It doesn't have malititol, methyl gluceth-10, hydroxyethylcellulose, phenoxyethanol, hydrogenated castor oil and no ceramide in it. The reason for the less moisturising effect.


The lotion comes out watery and it has the same signature smells of sake.  It get absorbs into the skin or evaporated into the air really fast as well compare to the high moist one without leaving any traces.  I think this is good for someone that hates feeling anything on the face for more that a few seconds.  It isn't as hydrating as the high moist one but it does have the silky feeling when I touch my skin with my hands.

Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care Lotion also has the same irritating pump which just spray out in any direction it wants.  It is affordable cheap toner that works great as mist for setting makeup, spray into oily hair and cooling mist in the hot weather.  Personally it will works great for someone with oily skin type in high humidity places.

Overall, Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care Lotion is more for oily skin type, during summer, high humidity that cause problems for products to absorb, hates waiting for products to absorb into the skin, no problem with ferments and animal ingredient in it.

As for preference, Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care Lotion and Kiku masamune Japanese Sake Brewing Skin care Lotion(high moist) are both toners that I like to use depending on the weather and my skin condition.

This month is December meaning Cubecrate came to bring me a box of goodies.  Personally I am really happy with this month content. I was actually whining a little about last month November box but I am super happy with this month Cubecrate December 2016 box.

I was literary OMG when I opened the box!  It is the first hand poured candle in Malaysia that use palm wax.  The paraffin is not good for health and environment. We can also blend our own scent and create our own signature.

Once in a while, I came across a brand that doesn't have reviews in English and not much is known since it is not a popularize brand.  I have seen people from Hong Kong mentioned about the KYL广源良 toner but then not much is know because everything is written in Chinese.  They are really famous for their Luffa cooling toner in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

KYL produces skincare products based on a few ingredients and it is the same for this mask.  It is for someone looking for skincare products that is basically plants and has no animals products. Their other products also doesn't contain any animal ingredients.

This mask is in form of sachets which is great.  Just add their toner, plain water or liquid of your choice into the light green powder and make it into a paste.  Then apply it to the face.  Application is easy.  The mask has those herbal or those woody smell that I do like since it is reminds me of herbal soup.  The mask is supposed to help cool down and clean the face.  It does help to reduce the amount of acne and brighten up my face after using the third packet. It is gentle as it doesn't irritate my skin or clogged my skin even when I accidentally slept with it.

KYL广源良 Chamomile & Green Beans Powder  doesn't dry or oil up my face which is great since I can use it everyday without any guilt.  Green beans has the effect of clay which is to clean up the skin and it is use in Chinese traditional beauty regime. Barley and Chamomile is to cool down the skin 'heat' which normally happened with acne prone skin.  I mean if you believe those 'cold' and 'heat' stuff in traditional Asian medicine.

I think KYL广源良 Chamomile & Green Beans Powder which is great for some lazy to get all the ingredients and mix it up our self.  Besides, it is already in sterile form you can just add in some liquid to make a paste.  I use mineral water, green tea water or my Primera Organience Water. It is really smooth and application is just a breeze.  You do have to wash it off or your face will feel crusty if it is left too long on the face.

What interest me about KYL广源良 Chamomile & Green Beans Powder is that the added Angelica Dahurica which helps with skin metabolism, lighten skin which is used by Empress Dowager Cixi as her secret beauty recipe of Yu Rong San.  Angelica Dahurica is use for treating acne, blackhead, and pimples.


Overall, KYL广源良 Chamomile & Green Beans Powder is a gentle cleansing wash off mask for any skin type especially acne prone, love plant based ingredients, like traditional medicinal mask and do not mind doing a little DIY fun. After all,  it is really very affordable and is able to reduce the inflammation on my 'heat up' skin.  Results really depends on how often you use this mask.

The bottle is made from heavy transparent glass so be careful when handling it. There is a seal on the opening to avoid tampering or leakage during shipping which is a good thought.

The opening of bottle is of medium size so be careful to not pour too much.  Don't shake it hard or else it will pour out too much.  Just gently tilt the bottle and the emulsion will gently flow out from the bottle.

The emulsion smell like the organience water with slight smell of soy.  It is faint as the smell doesn't linger long after application.  It has the very light brown colour which turns transparent upon application.  The emulsion is very smooth, absorb easily, no stickiness or a film on the skin. I feels that it hydrates my skin without being too thick which is nice to have in this hot weather.  It does cause piling under sunscreen or makeup if you use a lot.

The emulsion doesn't irritate my skin or cause clogged pores despite having some shea butter in it.  There are many moisturising ingredients in there such as Algae, Rice, Cocoa, Soybean Sprout, Shea Butter, Olive Fruit Oil, Lavender Oil, Rosemary Leaf Oil, Juniperus Virginiana Oil, Mandarin Orange Peel Oil, Orange Peel Oil, Cocoa Seed Butter and Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil.  There is also Dimethicone but is the 7th ingredients and all the moisturising ingredients starts from the 7th ingredients so I guess the percentage is not high enough to be clogging pores but still provide the moisturise and benefits that the skin needs.  After all, I don't mind if my moisturiser works slower on my skin but still hydrate and don't clog my pores.

However, do still check if there is any ingredients that you have to absolutely avoid because of allergy.

Soybean Sprouts helps in anti-aging and inhibit tyrosinase.
Dioscorea Japonica Root is a Japanese mountain yam that suppress allergic reaction for over sensitise skin.
Oryza Sativa(Rice) extract is for improving the texture of skin that has been damaged physically or chemically.
Houttuynia Cordata Extract is antifungal, anti bacterial, anti-viral and the plants that survives even after the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant in 2012.
Artemisia Vulgaris Extract is mugwort or wormwood relieves itchiness caused by burn or sensitivity.


Compare to the organience water, this contains more moisturising ingredients and lesser of the fantastic Houttuynia Cordata Extract and Artemisia Vulgaris Extract which my skin just seems to love.  This works great as a light moisturiser during summer and for oily skin type.  It didn't help to get rid of my acne but it doesn't make it worse.  The Organience series is not made to get rid of acne but made for skin that is already damaged by pollution or other external factors.

The organience line really does helps to reduce my redness, irritation and protect it from pollution since my skin only gets better when I was using it compare to when I stop using it for a few days.

Overall, I will recommend it for oily, barrier damaged skin, those living in polluted areas , sensitive red skin and love organic products with a lot of plants ingredients.  It does have any ingredients from animals so it should suit one's looking only for products made from plants.
