REVIEW ON RESTAURANT AH SO BAH KUT TEH, KLANG, SELANGOR (NON HALAL)

Hi,

Today is food adventure in Klang 😊 . This is a non Halal place meaning that it serves pork.  Bah Kut Teh is a Malaysian Chinese dish that is really popular and only available in Malaysia.  So, Klang which is a district in Selangor is the most popular place for Bah Kut Teh.

So, here is a restaurant that serves Bah Kut Teh but of course this place is not the popular one that appears in travel books and television.  It is just a restaurant that I happened to just stop because I was lost for breakfast before going somewhere.

Restaurant Ah So Bah Kut Teh, Klang, Selangor, Malaysia.

Chinese tea

Ah So Bah Kut Teh, Klang, Selangor, Malaysia has  a simple interior.  One can see the kitchen and all the others tables once you have seated there. The round tables are made for Chinese that tend to come with a big families.  You can either choose to have individual drinks or Chinese tea. I chose Chinese tea because you can refill the hot water later.  The tea 'Tie Guan Yin'(mandarin) is those really cheap loose tea which isn't that good.

Bah Kut Teh comes in either dry or wet one. I prefer soupy stuff.  Bah Kut Teh is actually pork cooked in Herbal soup.  Eating it is to give more vigor and provide more revitalizing effect to the body that needs a lot of energy to work. It used to be food for people working as labourers in the harbour since you need to carry all those heavy stuff and work really hard.

Now, we eat it as part of giving more nourishment to the body.  This Bah Kut Teh comes with pork, some tofu skin and salad.  One do need to mention the parts that you want or do not want. I obviously do not eat the small or big intestine so I usually mentioned that I do not want it else your Bah Kut Teh is going to come with it.  The soup is a little more watery and tone down with probably less herbs.  The pork isn't particular delicious, soft or seasoned.  It isn't tender but I think it could be better if given more cooking time.  The amount of the ingredients VS the price are just okay which is not cheap nor too expensive.

This restaurant serves their Bah Kut Teh with the Yau char kuey or You Tiao Char Koi. Char Koi is the flour stick which is like the Chinese Donut.  People from Hong Kong usually eat it with porridge.  In Malaysia, the Chinese like to eat it with the Bah Kut Teh.  It was okay. It is not particular soft or particular crunchy.

As for the rice, they use lower quality of rice since I don't think there is particular fragrant smell coming from it and the grains are not that pretty.  It would be better if one can provide better medium grade rice that could entice their patrons to eat more than a simple one just to fill in their stomach.

Customer service is okay since I could speak Chinese.  They are really fast at picking order but your orders come after 30 minutes of waiting which is kind of slow for me.

Overall, it is just an okay place to eat Bah Kut Teh. I am not hating or loving it.

The rice, chinese tea, Bah Kut Teh(for two person) and the char koi cost RM50.  I think the price must have surely increased now with things increasing already.

FOOD REVIEW ON FREEZE DRIED DURIAN MUSANG KING

Hi,
I know adventurous people like you are out there waiting to try this wonderful fruit of South East Asia aka the King of Fruit or more known by the name Durian.

I hope no one actually fainted seeing the word Durian here. Yes, I love Durian XD and it is not stinky at all.  This is a fruit that either gather hates or likes. You can't get someone say it is okay.

Musang King Durian is to one of the Top quality of Durian and it is really expensive for the exquisite taste for those that love it.  The price is also different for there is demand for Musang King durian.  So, a person like will just make do with this Freeze Dried Durian Musang King (50g) which travelled to me without the smell that can choke people out.

Freeze Dried Durian Musang King comes in a secure packet without leaking of any Durian smell.  One just snip off the top and there will be a zip kind so that one can seal it back. There is no need to keep inside the fridge.

Freeze Dried Durian Musang King comes in a dried fruit kind.  If you just bite it, it will come across as really crunchy crackers but to get the most of the taste, one has to let it melt on the tongue. Just put the dried fruit inside the mouth and wait for it to melt.  It will taste like a melted Durian ice cream which is so good. I know people who hate Durian will faint at this too-good-too-to-be-true tasty fruit but it is good.  The smell is not like those artificial durian ice cream or those durian sweets.  This is really nice and the smell is still strong even when it is in dried form.

Freeze Dried Durian Musang King is imported into Brunei and Singapore so it must be of highest quality to do so.  There is also certification from Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (Mesti) and pass GMP 1 from the Minister of Health of Malaysia.

Overall, I do highly recommend Freeze Dried Durian Musang King if you couldn't get the fresh Musang King or just wanted something to eat during travel but do not want to disturb people with the smell. It is great as gift too. I haven't tasted the fresh Musang King because it is too expensive for my wallet.

TRAVEL REVIEW ON MELANG INN HOTEL, KUALA PILAH, NEGERI SEMBILAN, MALAYSIA

Hi,

I stayed in Melang Inn, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia and I think that maybe I should write about it since I have realised that I have a lot of pictures for it.  Most of the time we have to stay somewhere especially travelling and this hotel does seems to be popular with visitors.

Breakfast

The price for Melang Inn Hotel is quite affordable since for three person, it only cost RM150 with breakfast for two.  You will need to pay deposit of Rm100 which will be returned upon checking out so no worries about it.  They are also free wifi available for usage.

Melang Inn Hotel does have a small area for people that like to take photos with fish pond and fishes.  The room is clean with open cupboard which most people prefers now.  The room is clean and comfortable with showering products provided in the shower room and towels.  There is also a built in hair dryer.

The bathroom comes with hair dryers and shower that is safe since it comes from the main source.  It is just that the water is not warm enough. I think it is probably some people have kids scalded themselves since they turn to the left while showering.

There are ceramic cups, coffee, kettle and mineral water to have some coffee.  As for breakfast, the front desk will let you choose one out of the two menus. the menus depends on the day.  I chose a curry noodles and waffle.  Honestly, I prefer the waffle with chocolate sauce.  It is just that the waffle doesn't come with the choice of sauce.  The curry noodles is not warm enough and the portion is quite small.  Well, can't expect much when one only pay RM150.  Normally place with that price do not provide breakfast at all so no complain here.

Overall, I will come again to Melang Inn Hotel if I need to stay here again because of the great service and nice clean place.

FOOD ADVENTURE IN SEKINCHAN, SELANGOR, MALAYSIA

Hi,

Food adventure in Sekinchan, Sabak Bernam, Selangor, Malaysia is a small place which most people visit for the feeling of being in a peaceful small town out of the big city where everything is hectic.  They are famous for fresh seafood but what I am showing is not seafood since I was just passing by and had to stop for lunch.

The buildings and area are in the 1950s where most of it are still wooden shop houses.  No, we don't live in tree houses if that is what people think.  Most shop houses here still retain the feeling although there are bricks shop houses.  This is the place if one wanted the feeling of being in the past of another different era.

I didn't know much about the place and just decide to stop at Restoran ABC Corner, Jalan Malinja, Sekinchan, Selangor, Malaysia for lunch before heading down South.

Here is the paddy field that you can see. Rice comes from here and it will turns golden when it is time for harvest.

Hawaii
This is Hawaii. It is actually shaved ice with some colouring, pineapple and jellies. The top is lime.  Overall, average I guess.  I don't like artificial colouring.

Hawaii RM4

Dried Wantan Mee
Wantan Mee

The Wantan Mee is portion is of medium which is the average type that one will get in Chinese shop since everything is increasing now.  The char siew (salted portk) was quite fat and not really to my liking.  As usual, the soup that comes with it contain sodium glutamate as I feel very thirsty after eating it.  There is a fish ball and a pork ball in the soup.  The fish cakes and that comes with is it are okay.  The noodles are alright since it is not too soft or too hard.  The sauce is a bit watery to my liking but it taste fine.  Overall, average in taste but not too bad.

As for customer service, the owner does come to take order fast but the time waiting for the food is quite long since I waited for 30minutes for the food to come.  There are people keep coming in to the shop so I guess the locals here do like the food here.  Another is make sure you speak Mandarin and able to read the Chinese words as everything is written in that language itself.  I am not sure about English since patrons here use Mandarin or the Hokkien dialects.

Overall, experience wise is typical type of Chinese shop which is not that great and not that bad also. For the kind of price, that is the kind of service and food I guess?

Price of food:
Dried Wantan Mee Rm3.50 (if add extra it is RM5)
Hawaii RM4

CHINESE STREET FOOD TO TRY IN XIN QIAN SHUI WAN, TELUK INTAN, PERAK, MALAYSIA

Hi foodies,

Here is another place that I went for food hunt in Teluk Intan.  Restoran Xin Qian Shui Wan is a shop with many Chinese street food that only opens at night.  The price for the food is quite affordable but since it was in 2016 I just cannot remember the exact price for the food. Please excuse me since I can't remember much having too much to do and I am just not really an organised person.

There are many choices and everything is good in Restoran Xin Qian Shui Wan, Teluk Intan, Perak, Malaysia =).  So, here is the Chinese street food to try in Teluk Intan, Perak, Malaysia.  You can also something like this in Penang and other place since it is Chinese food XD.  I am recommending some of the food that I like.

Popiah Basah, Chinese street food to try in Teluk Intan, Perak, Malaysia
Popiah Basah

Popiah basah is literary translated to wet salad.  People here just called it popiah.  This is not the fruit salad but it contains bean sprout, crunchy crackers, red sauce, tofu and vegetables.  It might look small on the picture but eating one is going to make you full. I really like because the sauce is very well blended with all the vegetables and it taste good although it is just vegetable

Laksa

Laksa here is one of the best in Teluk Intan.  It has the sweet sour taste with a lot of ingredients in it.  There is fish in it which is hard to find now.  If you like spicy, then laksa should be something to try.

Prawn cracker and yam cakes,Chinese street food to try in Teluk Intan, Perak, Malaysia
Prawn cracker and yam cakes

Prawn cracker and yam cakes. The yellow one is the prawn cracker which is also one of my favourite Chinese street food.  This is particular delicious.  The yam cake is soft and nice. Chinese Yam cake is unlike western cakes which is sweet. Chinese cakes are not sweet. They are mostly either bland, a bit salty or very tone down.

Char keow teow which is stir-fried ricecake strips which is really good.  It is the only one that I will eat with beansprouts in it because I dislike bean sprouts cooked in other ways.  The portion is small but it is really good and comes on banana leaves.  Make sure to try it when you are in Malaysia.

Ham chien or cockles omelette.  It is a pretty common Chinese street food which I usually do not eat since I do not like cockles.  I usually eat the oyster omelette or the lala omelette.  They are pretty good and smell good.

Luo han guo
Luo han guo (罗汉果) or the scientific name is Siraitia grosvenorii which is a drink for cooling the body. It is use as medicinal to treat sore throat and cough.  It is naturally sweet which is why I like it.
